if you manage to load your gift/prepaid card to paypal it will still not be enough. You have to verify the paypal account, and that's only possible with a bankaccount or Credit Card.

No.

Well, almost no.  If your PayPal account is backed up by a bank account and has a cash balance that is at least large enough to cover your SL purchases, then Linden Lab doesn't really care how that PayPal cash balance is maintained.   So, if you really want to use a prepaid gift card, set up your PayPal account to be tied to your bank account and then send the PayPal account a deposit from your prepaid card.

In the end, the important thing is that your PayPal account must be backed up by some source of funds and it must be capable of sending and receiving $ instantly.  Your bank can't transfer funds fast enough to meet the demands of on-line sales, and prepaid cards can't receive refunds (and their owners can't be verified, to prevent fraud).
