how to stop messages on my e mail from Second Life

That depends on the messages.  If you look at Preferences >> Chat, you'll find a check box for "E-mail me IMs when I am off line", so you can UNcheck that.  You can also check in the group profiles of various groups that you belong to, unchecking the option to receive group messages.  The way a lot of experienced SL residents handle it, though, is to use a separate e-mail account exclusively for Second Life.  Record that account in your dashboard at secondlife.com >>> Account >>> Contact Information.  Then all e-mail, including the ones from Linden Lab that you can never shut off, are sent to that account and never get mixed in with your business and family e-mails.
