If you have tried everything at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bake_fail and still have a chronic bake fail problem, you need to improve your Internet connection.  Bandwidth is rarely an issue, but stability can be.  SL depends on passing data between LL servers and your viewer continuously, so an irregular or unreliable connection can mess things up royally.  Persistent bake fail is commonly a sign that you have never fully logged in, because some data are being lost.  So first, get off wireless.  It works well for many residents but is not supported by LL ( see https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Wifi-and-satellite-connections/ta-p/1296823 ) .  Then reboot both your router and your modem by unplugging them from the power for a few minutes, plugging them back in, and restarting your computer.  If even those steps don't solve the problem, add Google's free public DNS servers to whatever your ISP assigns you as a default. Here's how >>> https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using .  Further suggestions for improving your connection are at http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/

It's either a connection problem or a corrupt item you're wearing.  Since your inventory isn't fetching either, I vote for a connection problem.  Try these first:

  • If you use a wifi connection, don't.  Hook up an ethernet cable instead.
  • If you are using wireless internet (3G, 4G), don't.  Switch to a DSL, cable, or FIOS internet service provider.
  • Switch to the free Google public DNS servers.  Instructions here: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using?hl=en
  • Turn off your internet modem and router...in fact, turn your computer off too.  Let everything sit for five minutes.  Turn your system back on and let it reboot.  Try logging in to a quiet, empty region like Heckendorf or Pooley.

If none of those work, see here for more things to investigate: http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/

EDIT:  Dammit, beaten again by Rolig, the World's Fastest Typist!
