after update ... it won't run ...

my second life was running fine .. went to start it and it said to update   ... it hasn't run since  I tried many different things  

what would the problem be

This is happening to a number of people.  Please uninstall and do a clean reinstall of the previous version.  Instructions here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231

If you did not save the previous version's installation file in your Downloads folder, try one of the many third party viewers.

The main viewer creates a problem for some users. The work-around is to get a different version. Learn how to use RC and Project viewers to fix the problem here: http://blog.nalates.net/2014/11/11/second-life-main-viewer-failing/

My bet advice is to give up on on the SLviewer....every update of late has caused problems....I finally got a third party viewer as my addiction to getting on SL was jonesing LOL....Any way Firestorm seems to be closet to the old SLviewer....I hate learning new things but sometimes you are just forced to. Hope you get a viewer that will let you continue to enjoy inworld....take care.......
