I am truly not "a techie."  I've been in SL for 3.5 years and had nothing but enjoyment, until the release of the new viewer, which I consider to be a nightmare in too many ways to list right here.  A lot of my friends in SL are in agreement.  I don't know of anyone who uses it.

I've been forced, by some of the new skins, and some of the new clothing,  to use the viewer 2.1.  It says that the SL version must be upgraded to use the product.

I checked the 3rd party viewers, which seem to all be 1.2, so I believe that I'd run into the same problem.  Also, I don't begin to know how to go about establishing my SL with a 3rd party.

Actually, even though viewers like Phoenix are based on the 1.xx code, that really just means they have kept the 1.xx interface.  Phoenix does have the additional clothing layers and the alpha layer so your clothes/shoes/etc... will be correct.  If you want to try it, simply download, install, and log in -- it will not impact your viewer 2 install at all and you can always go back to the viewer 2.  Here is the download link:

For the feet/floor issues, sometimes changing the floor to phantom and back will fix it.  Also, sitting on something and then standing back up usually works.  Sorry I don't have a better solution.

The advice on how to download the Phoenix viewer was very helpful.  I was able to do it very easily, as described.

I didn't like the picture that this viewer provided, so I've returned to our Linden Labs 2.1 Viewer.

I seem to have corrected my no feet issue by stripping down to nothing, placing myself in an elevated float and redressing and

attaching all.

The issue you're describing is a known bug and *can* happen in all viewers. Usually just taking off and putting on a foot shaper from a pair of shoes will solve the problem.

Kirsten's viewer is a V2 based third party viewer you might want to try. I've been using it for months now and have been very happy. The changes she's made to the user interface are preferrable to some over the standard LL V2 interface. You can download it here if you're interested.

I'm new at "talking" in this forum...but I'd like to close this question now because  have more....

I've downloaded both Phoenix and Kirsten viewers, but have found that I'm better to struggle through the SL viewer 2.1, than to

attempt adjustments to these new viewers.  That's just the sort of person I am.

I'm going to attempt to close down this discussion because I have more worries with viewer 2.1
