Avatar Explosions!!!!

Hi guys can anyone help.

I got my new Dell laptop this morning and on trying SL i seem to be having a little bit of a problem.

when i logged into SL almost instantly my view was blurred by huge spikes of colour bursting from my avatar, filling the screen. zooming in or out didnt make this any better...infact zooming in made it ten times worse. it seems to be coming from avatars...colours spike out from the avatar like some mad colour explosion following the avatar around. i cant for the life of me fathom why, i have reduced the duel core processor
to just the one, i have switched off the hardware skining in preferences.

the video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4570 Graphics Card and runs on Windows 7 and 512MB dedicated graphics.
any one got any advice?

Oh, the ATI weird graphics standard solution.

Try  disabling OpenGL Vertex Buffer   objects:

1. Open preferences  (CTRL-P)
2. Open the   "Graphics" tab
3. Click on the "Hardware  options" button in the   bottom right corner
4. Uncheck "Activate  OpenGL Vertex Buffer   objects

LOL The Login Screen should have a warning for users of ATI about disable VBO

Tooooooooooooorley... Can you do something about this in terms of documentation, big info sign or anything else?

every ATI i ever had has had that issue in OpenGL or Direct* either one.  Nvidia isnt immune but its happened a lot less, tho i still now get faster frame rates with VBO off with my current Nvidia 7300 GS
