  1. Mindy Spiritor steps in really quick just to say this: We added a wanring for people to receive that not a Phoenix build in case they ended up with a build that was compiled by someone else. Unfortunately, we've encountered a bug with it and people are receiving that message in error. There is no reason to be concerned that you do not have a Phoenix build if you downloaded from our site Jessica Lyon: also, this is an issue we can fix server side. Jessica Lyon: Ok folks, the problem was server side on our end and it has been resolved. Those who recieved that message please relog at your convenience.

I sugest you check the new TOS. There is a specific mention on data collection without consent. So it is against TOS to collect and store peoples IP addresses. The relivant section is 8.3 8.3 You agree that you will not post or transmit Content or code that may be harmful, impede other users' functionality, invade other users' privacy, or surreptitiously or negatively impact any system or network. Some don't really care about your RL gender, but the majority will feel deeply hurt or raped if they realize that you are not the gender they expected. It's strange, but in my experience, the vast majority of sexual roleplayers in SL either don't care much about the RL gender of their partner, or they simply prefer to leave the question open, out of fear to destroy the illusion. I've only met a handful of people, all of them male (although most of them had a female avatar themselves), who were homophobic enough to feel bothered. But then again, I've always had a "Yes, I do have one" bit in my profile in order to scare them off, so my experience might be skewed. Anyway... here is a bit of advice for people who seek an RL date / relationship instead of cybersex only: Don't have cybersex! Almost all SL women who engage in pixel humping are male in RL. If that bothers you, stick to those who only seek a flirt / friendship, they are more likely to be what you're looking for. But I also know from recent experience that there are a few exceptions to that rule of thumb. this. if they don't care i don't care, and i have avatars of both genders, each preferring their in world opposite. i do my best to find out if they do care, and when they do, i respect it. thats all i know how to do and i hope it's enough.

Found a great skybox that is "about" 30 x 40 per vendor (it's not a rectangle, more like several linked spheres so harder to measure). I am wondering how close to the edge of parcel I can place the box if it's way up there above 500m, I know from reading these forums it is a violation to cross the line . This is my first real land and big rez so any advice would be appreciated! when i need to know the exact footprint of a parcel, i build a platform that exactly fits it then edit the platform to the height i want the bottom of my build to be. if my build or something i bought etc has odd angles or parts sticking out i can raise and lower the platform and see if anything extends past the edges of it.

Ophira.Quillitch wrote: So any facial adjustments, like eyes, lips, etc. are modifications made to the shape? if you mean thin or thick lips, wide or narrow mouth, high or low, arched or not, pointed or not eyebrows yes. some of that is how the skin is drawn/painted but it can be affected by the sliders too. the eyebrows are a special case as they are actually a part of the 'system hair' which is usually made with all the sliders for head hair set to make it disappear and wear prim hair, and sliders to set for controlling eyebrow shape. that saves and is worn as a separate item from the body shape, so you can have different eyebrow shapes with the same body/face shape.
  8. ugh i never post looking for stuff so i dont really think that much about where to post. i didnt even remember there is a 'looking for something' category till this minute.
  9. im pretty good at finding nice freebies for grownups but apparently i suck at shopping for kids, at least in world.  any suggestions or recommendations?
  10. Ansariel.Hiller wrote: You forgot to mention the skin. what i get foor answering before i've had my coffee. lol skin too and skin is tricky because of the difference between system skin and painted skins. system skin without textures applied to it can be slider adjusted to colors and dark or light. some painted skins have some transparency which allows those sliders to also affect how they look but most don't. but the basic truth is the same, you are always wearing a skin, and it can only be replaced with another one, not removed.
  11. a little extra information there are certain things which go together that make up your base avatar, and you are always 'wearing' those basic things no matter what, they can not be removed, only replaced by wearing a different one of the same component. these are system hair, eyes, and shape. most people usually wear hair created from prims and wear a system hair that has been adjusted using the sliders to be unseen, in effect bald. that system hair can also have a texture applied and sometimes a transparent one is applied to further make it invisible. by the way the system hair is also how the eyebrow shape is adjusted.
  12. i dont think it'd be that bad if it wasnt so loud, and if there was a way to detect the surface for being a surface that should click or not. the real life ones are loud and annoying, the sl ones shouldn't have to be too.
  13. hmm i dont either now i've tried it, it pretty much has to be an attachment if Emerald is the only place it shows up. even if it was a Windows something it wouldn't be stuck to being inside the Emerald interface because Windows uses DirectX rendering and Emerald uses OpenGL.
  14. this is not a way to tell for certain but it can help you make some fairly appropriate guesses. if you enable Show LookAt, especially if you have Emerald or one of its siblings that puts names on the crosshairs, and if the people you are observing don't have Emerald and disabled their LookAt broadcasting, the crosshairs change color when they type even if it's in an IM, but i dont know how it is affected by voice. the Emerald radar also has icons for a whole heap of activities. radar: http://modularsystems.sl/index.php/plugins/templates/jsn_epic_pro/images/components/com_agora/style/Olympus_Green/media/system/css/index.php?option=com_agora&task=topic&id=835&Itemid=2 LookAt: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Show_Look_At

  16. i cant say if this is typical of stalkers in general, but a couple of guys i have encountered in my time here don't wait until a friendship or other relationship goes south and then suddenly turn into creepy stalker guy. they already have a few alts they run routinely, and every friend they make becomes the center of a little web of lies and trickery by two or more of those alts, either directly or indirectly. the unsuspecting future victim is then all but surrounded in a sense by the future stalker, so when things finally do start falling apart he already knows way more than the victim has any way to realize.
  17. i can try, but first what was your average download speed?
  18. try this: go to a speed test website, i recommend http://speedtest.net change the settings of the site so that the test server is in San Francisco, where as of my latest knowledge the LL authentication servers are change the settings so that the units it measures are in kilobits per second run the test a few times to get an average of your download speed go into your Preferences > Network and set the bandwidth slider to between 50% and 80% of the test reported average download speed see if that helps
  19. clear your caches, for both viewers, and also force each viewer to use a different cache folder than the other one. if you set new locations for both caches that will itself clear the caches. post again if the problem persists. i am also having some issues with graphics in the beta but only on attachments and huds.
  20. on the Object tab of the Edit dialog, set Path Cut values. you will see what they need to be when you start playing with it. you may need to reshape the prim to fit the rotation after you get Path Cut right.

  22. no problem with that. there's no difference between manually copying windlight xml files into that folder and deleting existing ones, than using the sky editor to do the same thing. whats more nothing in the policy either (a) requires a viewer to be registered, to access the grid, or (b) forbids any modifications other than those which specifically violate things spelled out in the ToS or the policy. and to my knowledge no one's ever claimed copyright infringement or any similar thing on any sky settings.
  23. Mickey what video card do you have? i looked through there but didn't see it anywhere.
  24. please i didnt say anything before but i feel a moral obligation now please not redgrave at the very least, if you must, get demos and compare to others first
  25. hi Zyna there is also a setting in the Preferences of your Second Life program that lets you choose what kind of content you want to be able to access when you are logged in. It is in the General tab of the Preferences, near the bottom. also when you are using the Search features look closely at the search, there are checkboxes for PG, Mature, and Adult.
