Hello all *waves* Hope this is the right place. I'm confused about rigged mesh versus fitted mesh. Are they the same thing ? Last question, is rigged or fitted mesh the latest innovation in clothes ? Thanks for your time and have a wonderful SL day ! :matte-motes-big-grin:

All mesh that bends with the avatar body is "rigged mesh." It can follow certain invisible objects called "bones" in the avatar's body so it can follow animations and some shape settings - however, many shape settings can't be sent to the mesh this way.

"Fitted mesh" is similar but it uses more "bones" so it's ability to adjust to your avatar shape is improved. Because of the way the default avatar is put together this adjusting will never be perfect using the traditiona skin/shape avatar. However, it will allow new mesh avatars to be mutch more adjustable than they currently are.

Just to expand on Theresa's explanation, you can think of "Fitted Mesh" as corresponding to balloons at certain parts of the avatar, thighs, calves, belly, breasts, butt, arms, head and so on.

These balloons inflate or deflate and that's what fitted mesh does.  It sort of vaguely changes shape with the sliders but while the sliders have varying degrees of influence, they don't correspond directly and some have absolutely no influence at all.

The head is a perfect example.  A head "balloon" just inflates or deflates but none of the head morphing sliders work in any manner of sense and the facial morphs have no effect.

Fitted Mesh is the new "shiny" but it's not always a great solution and in some cases, standard rigged mesh is better in the sense that it can be created for a known size and rigged and optimised better for that set size than trying to be a universal thing that accomodates all variations.

In short, it doesn't matter which mesh you buy, get the demo and see if it fits.

And once again, LL has increased the burden on merchants by requiring them to specify in the listing, whether the item is classic mesh our fitted mesh. This is great except for one thing...

LL HAS NOT EXPOSED THIS SEARCH FLAG TO THE CUSTOMER.

This stuff really isn't hard to do or get right without risk, I simply cannot understand the lack of coherent work that never gets finished.
