has anyone else noticed sorting through things brings up to high of a mix?

#1: Searching demos is also bringing up freebies and lower priced items, and vice versa

#2 adds filled with demos skewing real products

where does one do to petition a "Demo Only" Tab option and listing method?

L.L. wants the demo's 'IN YOUR FACE' obviously knowing that the the full priced demo version is on average quite a bit higher priced than the average similar thing that has no demo version. (They think they will make more money that way instead of peeps just leaving the game and taking their marbles with them due to the annoyance of it all).

A way to remedy the demo/freebie/near freebie mixed up problem to a large extent would be to group all the demos together at the top of the most important relevance search. That way the most popular demos will still be on top for greatest exposure, and it wouldn't be anywhere near as difficult and time consuming to find the page that the non demos start at.

You give too much credit.  LL didn't do a single thing about demo's to either put them in your face or alleviate them, same with colours.  They were supposed to be a sub feature of the main listing only but we didn't get what we wanted.

THE SIMPLEST and most logical way to deal with demo's is to NEVER SHOW THEM in search results.

Simple enough to do too since a demo already has a related product so if it's a listing that is referrenced FROM another listing via the "demo" record, then... IT'S A DEMO so exclude it from the MP search results.

It's so simple, it's so elegant, it does exactly what we were promised but we never get the simple stuff that just works.  It's easier to go off doing stuff that a tiny minority of mechants have expressed interest in from which the results of that work impacts far more in a negative way.

e.g. The recent change to the transactions (implemented and reversed), the master plan for changing listings to document the type of mesh yet these database attributes are not even used in search by customers.

I'm past even trying to understand why doing the sensible things aren't done.

When will Direct Delivery be finished I wonder... is it 2 years since that started yet?

Not at all.  It really really is very simple.

Demo's should not be a listing that exists to be viewed outside of  a main product listing.  It's easy to do, they don't do it, they didn't implement it properly.

Because demo's ARE a listing, a lot of people try demos and as a result, the number of transactions of demos is much higher and thus they bubble up to the front of search.

That's how search has worked for a long time, the effect is because the demo thing wasn't done as was intended.

No double speak, LL didn't think ahead that they wanted demo's in your face, i'm not even sure that mesh existed when this was originally done and search was definitely skewed that way.

Have to agree LL doest care or didn't correctly implement demos - or for that matter "almost free" items.

."Sort by popular first" and yes - you will get demos and low priced items as they are sold more often than those items that cost 500 or 2000L.

It really makes for either at best a  ridicoulous sort, or at worst, a gamed and useless sorting tool.

Nte on the Jiras to get demos out of the lists - or provide for true boolean searches where I can use -demo in my search!
