Your TV should have come with instructions, probably on a notecard.  It's best to follow those.  If you have lost them, contact the creator.  In general, though, what your TV will be doing is applying a URL for a streaming video service to a specific textured face in your parcel --- the screen of the TV itself.  If you knew the URL yourself, you could apply it in World >>> About Land >>> Media and identify the textured surface in the same place.  (If you are really curious, watch this video to see how it's done.)  As I said, though, the person who created your TV has automated the setup process and has also made it so that you can change channels easily.  Contact him/her.

BTW, the instructions will probably say this, but just in case..... In order to play Flash format videos (eg YouTube videos), you must have the generic Adobe Flash plugin installed. If you use IE as your web browser and already have Flash, you will need to get the generic Flash plugin; see here.

Geilis,

First make sure that you can SEE video in SL.  Go somewhere where there is a TV.  Can you see it?  if not, here are a couple of things to try.

Dumb but common mistake:  You forgot to click the Play icon for media, in the upper right corner of your viewer.  If media is playing, this will show a Pause icon.

Make sure you have the latest versions of both QuickTime and Flash installed on your computer.

Make sure your firewall isn't blocking a port that SL needs.  See here for details: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Using-Second-Life-with-a-firewall/ta-p/1304539

Make sure you have enough spare bandwidth.  Check your Preferences, Network tab.  The bandwidth should never be set haigher than 1500.  If it's at 1500 or higher, DECREASE it some.  This will leave more bandwidth for music and media streaming.

If you are using the Firestorm viewer, go to Preferences, Sound and Media.  Make sure all the volume sliders are active.  Also, make sure that the box "Media Filter" is NOT checked.  If checked, you will be asked for permission every time a new stream wants to access your viewer...in other words, every time you change the channel on your TV.

Linden Home parcels are not group owned, so your TV does not have to be "deeded" to a group.  However, it does have to be owned by the land owner...you.  Check this by right clicking the TV and choosing Edit.  Look in the General tab and make sure it shows you as the owner.
