Question

I have literally spent my WHOLE day trying to fix my problem with the SL viewer....

Login failed.
Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong.
Please check status.secondlifegrid.net to see if there is a known problem with the service.
If you continue to experience problems, please check your network and firewall setup.

I tried changing my antivirus and it didn`t work. I treied turning off my antivirus and then it didn`t work again. Right now I am on avast and it still isn`t working.

I was told to go here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Using-Second-Life-with-a-firewall/ta-p/1304539 I went there and since I don`t use any of the antivirus programs mentioned there it didn`t really help. And it`s not the DNS problem because that was cleared out yesterday. If someone has a solution and will give me proper instructions I`ll be glad to hear them. :matte-motes-smile:

Actually, it could still be the DNS problem, just not yesterday's problem.  DNS issues are quite common.  We see them here all the time.  Here's the set of rcommendations I usually offer:

Unless there's a problem with the Linden Lab servers (Always check http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ first), it's probably something on your end. So....

(1) Try shutting off your computer, unplugging the router and modem for a couple of minutes, and then plugging them back in and restarting. That simple step may clear up everything

(2) Add Google's free public DNS servers to whatever your ISP assigns you as a default. Here's how >>> http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ .  Should using Google as a DNS not work for you then see here for alternate servers, or grab DNS Bench to help you locate one.

(3) If things are STILL messed up, contact your ISP. Maybe they are working on their Internet connections. Mine go down for about 20 minutes once a month or so while they are vacuuming dust out of their servers, or whatever they do.
