Depending on the State in the USA and/or what country you are in, a convicted Sex Offender may be required to Register as such and/or may be prohibited from accessing the internet by his sentencing and probation restrictions. This is enforced by the local jurisdiction the person is residing in. In the US, moving out of state many times allows someone to avoid these restrictions as it is harder for a parole officer to check up on their charge.

Now if you are accusing someone of being a Sex Offender or of violating the Linden Lab TOS in regards to Age Play, you need to submit your claims to LL in an AR with details and just let them handle it.

Children are not suppose to be here in SL. Child Sex Age Play is prohibited by the LL TOS.

Engaging in Age Play with consenting adults is not illegal per se.} It is specifically prohibited here in SecondLife. ~ Emphasis from iCade's reminder{

It may be disgusting, but that's life. Sigh.

First: Having a child avatar is NOT a crime. Everyone can have any avatar they want. Only sexual actions with childavatars around are forbidden by the TOS and could be a reason to report that person to LL. Just assuming someone with a child avatar is a sex offender or pedopile isn't enough for LL or the police. You basically need to catch them while breaking the TOS/Law and make screenshots chatlogs to prove it later.

SL in general has nothing to do with kids. Second Life is an virtual world mainly for adults enjoying their free time. Its not even allowed to have an account under the age of 16, and those are forced to stay on G rated sims.

Karen, it might not be illegal but it's a sure fire way to get your account permanently banned as it IS against the TOS.

Policy

Under our Community Standards policy, real-life images, avatar portrayals, and other depictions of sexual or lewd acts involving or appearing to involve children or minors are not allowed within Second Life. When detected, individuals and groups promoting or providing such content and activities will be subject to sanctions, which may include termination of accounts, closure of groups, removal of content, and loss of land or access to land.

There are three key aspects involved in these materials or acts that are in breach of the Community Standards:

  • Participation by Residents in lewd or sexual acts in which one or more of the avatars appears to represent minors (or the depiction of such acts in images, video, textures, or text) is a violation of the Community Standards.
  • Promoting or catering to such behavior or representations violates our Community Standards. For instance, the placement of avatars appearing to represent minors in proximity to "sex beds" or other sexualized graphics, objects, or scripts would violate our Community Standards, as would the placement of sexualized "pose balls" or other content in areas depicting playgrounds or children's spaces.
  • The graphic depiction of children in a sexual or lewd manner violates our Community Standards.

Linden Lab reserves the right to immediately terminate the accounts of Residents who violate these standards.

Current Second Life Terms of Service states:

11.4 We may suspend or terminate your Account(s) to protect the best interests of Second Life and the Second Life community or if we believe you pose an unacceptable risk to the Second Life community.

We may suspend or terminate your Account if we determine in our discretion that such action is necessary or advisable to comply with legal requirements or protect the rights or interests of Linden Lab, the Second Life community or any third party.

We may suspend or terminate your Account(s) if we learn, or in good faith believe, that you are a Registered Sex Offender, that accessing Second Life may violate a condition of parole or probation, that you have engaged in or attempted to engage in conduct with minors on the Service that violates this Agreement, or that you for any other reason may pose what we deem to be an unacceptable risk to the Second Life community.
