Sapphire Easterwood
Hi all,I am planning to get the above mentioned graphics card. Though I have read some issues on AMD cards with openGL on the forum, I am wondering if anyone is using it could tell me if it works well for SL, or any opinions on it is appreciated. Thank you. Nalates Urriah
AMD/ATI has been weak supporting OpenGL. The recent release of the new Firestorm Viewer ran into driver problems with ATI cards. The 7000 series cards SHOULD work pretty well. Have you searched Answers and the Forum for HD7850? Also search SLUniverse and see what you find. nVidia seems to do a better job of supporting OpenGL. But, they run into problems too. I don't have any hard data to say nVidia or ATI is better. I think the opinion in the SL user community is nVidia is better. JayR Cela
By Avatar JayR Cela Although ATI~AMD is a good buy for the buck $, for one reason or another they usually have major problem's running any version of the SecondLife viewer, I would reccomend that you buy a simularly priced Nvidia based card. They don't work with Second Life They do, but only sometimes it seems. Any update to either video card drivers or SL viewer will result in a "crossed fingers moment". If SL is the main reason for buying a specific video card, I'd go for NVidia. If you play games 95% of the time and occasionally open SL, AMD might be the best choice, simply because they are usually cheaper.
Jean Horten
You'll get a lot of trouble with dysfunctional drivers for the money you save on AMD/ATI graphics cards. J.

If you use it mainly for SL yes, if you don't no. I thought I made that pretty clear.
