  2. By Avatar JayR Cela Although ATI~AMD is a good buy for the buck $, for one reason or another they usually have major problem's running any version of the SecondLife viewer, I would reccomend that you buy a simularly priced Nvidia based card. JayR Cela :_)

  5. Yep I agree with several other posts hear, it sounds like a over heating problem. And that does not nesc.. mean it a current dilemma, something in the recent past may have overheated one of your box's components, 2 years ago I had a similar thing happen to a homebrew I had built. Upon removal an inspection of the motherboard, I noticed on its underside a slight scorching along some circuit traces. I'm not saying that is what your problem is, but with 15 years experience under my belt, working with, repairing, building computers. I have to think current or recent past overheating is the culprit. I would get a can of DustOff compressed air. Or some other source of compressed air, and a vacuum cleaner with external attachments. Place your computer on a work bench ( low static ) ( unfinished wood is best ) remove the cover and get rid of any accumulated dust. While it is apart I would also re-seat any connections, power supply, addin cards, memory modules etc.... Sometimes these connectors can get a bit of corrosion or dust or simply may have not been properly seated to begin with. Removal from the connection point and reconnection will solve that problem. Once you've done that, restart the computer, and just let it run for a while, say about 1 hour, if it is still working, fire up a web browser and start off with some general web surfing. If it's still working, great then try running SL again, if it then crashes, your problem is more than likely a corrupted SL installation. Remove of all traces of SL ( some files are hidden, so you'll need to remove those as well ) then download a fresh copy of a SL client and do a complete clean install. Anyway that is how I would approach this. If you dont know what your doing, get some help from someone who does. If its a laptop all bets are off, most are generaly not repairable except by a laptop repair professional. Hope this helps you. JayR Cela :_)
