mysteriousdots Posted April 24, 2012 Share Posted April 24, 2012 i got issues with my avatar. Everyone can see me but i can't see myself. Image shows itself. People said its because of lagg and that i need to relog a few times. already did that like 3 hours every 5 min and nothing happend. Conora Posted April 25, 2012 Share Posted April 25, 2012 You can try to clear the sl history here: computer/username/appdata/roaming/second life (delite the compleate sl file) Here all the old chat data etc. is saved. it couses lag when there is to much info saved in it this can couse your avatar not to load or your vieuwer to fail compleatly. You can adjust the size of your cache in preferences. That setting can have an effect but actually and generally speaking it speeds things up. Problems can arise if data in your cache get's corrupted but the 'clear your cache' bandwagon when someone has problems is ofttimes a knee jerk reaction. It appears to me that this is an older lap top from the info, or at least not a high specked one. At what setting are you running SL. Set your graphics to low in preferences and see what that does. Try logging in to a quieter SIM like Smith or Aqua. You can also try going into 'edit appearance' or try rebaking, (ctrl/shift/R) to 'force' your Avatar to load. Not the amount of data. That is a static number that get's filled to the capacity you set it in the Viewer. There is a constant swapping out of the old data for new data. But some data doesn't get swapped if you keep logging into the same place for instance. I agree it doesn't hurt to clean your cache occasionally. It was just the reason that I questioned. Thanks.
