New to SecondLife and completely Lost

Hi Guys,

So I'm new to second life and I need some major help. Right now I'm working on my avatar. I bought a complete avatar from the marketplace today and tried loading it into second life and when I try to change my avatar into the one I bought it doesn't change the only thing that changes is my avatar looks like it's holding something in it's hand. Does anybody know how to help me with this problem. Also if my purchase of the complete avatar came with a style card where can I look at that?

Your avatar came in a box.

You will need to open the box and take out the contents.

Your stylecard will be in there.

I suspect the complete avatar you bought is packed in a box and so when click on it to wear, it's attached to your right hand. To use it you have to unpack it first.

Welcome to SL Ashleigh !!

You need to drag the ltl yellow box outuv your inv .. drag it to the ground .. then rite click on it & you should get a pie menu .. click open .. you should get a grey box & it should load the contents of the box to you inv .. then be sure to remember to 'take' the box .. your stuff should be in your inv

If all this seems unnecessarily complicated .. its because it is .. its just a quirk of SL that you hav2 go thru this .. & all newbies are confused about it .. but you soon get use2 it & it becomes second nature

But why did you need to buy a complete avatar? Its fun using the sliders to modify the newbie avvies & make them how you want .. & its free that way

I see you got some good answers about what to do to solve your immediate problem (find a place to rez and open the box and copy it to your inventory).  What I'm wondering is if you have found the other (aside from the Second Life forum) resources for new people in Second Life?
