Why do I have multiple calling cards for people?

An old SL friend and I were trying to remember when first we met, and I checked my calling card for her.   Rather to my surprise, I have several,  which I seem to have acquired at the rate of two or three a year since we met in 2008,

We haven't been unfriending and then friending each other over the years, so how come I've collected all those duplicates?

ETA  I've checked, and I have a similar number of duplicates for other old friends, including -- and this is the really odd part  -- some for people who left SL ages ago that I acquired since their departure.

I've never made copies of Calling Cards that I recall.   Presumably it's something I'm doing, but heavens knows what.

That's odd.  Is she the only person for whom you have duplicates?  Have you ever made copies of calling cards for some reason (I can't imagine why)?

there was an old bug that appeared since 2.0, when viewers started syncing calling cards to the friends list. it could create duplicate cards if the friends list was loaded but inventory was not completely loaded to cache yet.

That bug should be fixed now, but duplicates left behind did not get any kind of automatic cleanup.

Interesting. I never ran across that bug before, but it sounds like what happened. Nice catch.
