I can't access the viewer or locate my avatar

Logged in, repeatedly downloaded SL viewer, why can't I access the viewer, find my avater, use teleport--all these worked for me the first couple days I started with Second Life and paid for Premium status?

and am thinking that it is your graphics card that is preventing you from being able to access Second Life. 

You only have to download the Second Life viewer the one time, whereupon there should be a Second Life viewer icon placed onto your desktop for easy access.  I take it that when you click on this icon, you might get the beginnings of a viewer come up on your screen, but then it vanishes?  Is this the case, or can you get further than that?  All things seem to point to a problem with your graphics card, unfortunately being incompatible with Second Life.
