I could well be mistaken but I thought that groups get rated as Adult the same way profiles do -- that is, the search filters have detected some word or words in the group's description that cause them to flag it as "Adult".   I don't think it's something you can set yourself, but I am open to correction here.

From the Knowledge Base ( http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Maturity-ratings/ta-p/700119 ):

The search system filters searches in the Groups tab the same way as in an Everything search. Groups can be marked as Moderate or left unchecked for non-Moderate groups. If a group's name or Group Charter uses adult keywords, the group appears only in Adult searches.
