Question

My sl viewer recently upgraded to the lastest sl version (v. 3.8.6) and now my enviroment settings keep changing each time I log in/tp. Once it was set, it USED to remain the same & now it's quite annoying to have to reset it every time. Is there a way to keep the setting I prefer vs. reverting to Region Settings at every loging/tp?

I'm on a Win 7 64-bit SP1 computer, using the Standard SL Viewer (**not** Phoenix, or any other)

Hi Shandarra,

The default viewer behavior changed a few months ago. To go back to the sticky environment settings you want, you must set the debug setting EnvironmentPersistAcrossLogin to TRUE.

If you've never twiddled with debug settings before, here's how...

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Debug_Settings

That page is a bit dated, so it doesn't show the EnvironmentPersistAcrossLogin setting, but it's there.

Hmm, I just changed that setting in both the official SL viewer and in Firestorm. Both settings survived a reboot. Perhaps your viewer has been corrupted? Before you do a clean install, try downloading an alternate viewer, like Firestorm. If the setting stays in one viewer, but not the other, it's time to re-install the misbehaving viewer. You'll find a list of alternate viewers here...

And you'll find instructions for a clean install here...
