yeah sweety perhaps, but the right for any American to own a gun, even if licensed, still gives an uncomfortable feeling to many here. You can only legally get a licence in UK to own a gun, if your a registered pest controller, maybe a farmer protecting livestock, or a very controlled member of a sporting club etc. There are no normal life instances, where you are allowed to own a firearm. Hi, unfortunetly I can't as it was a long time ago now, What I can tell you, that it was a big story back then, not once, but twice, It wasnt' only UK residents that may have been banned from accessing SL. I remember some other european countries were considering it too. What lead to us, still being in SL today, was down to some innacurate reporting at a later date, some reporters were making avatars and looking around for evidence, well the playground had already gone, But one of them, met a normal Child Avatar, and he tried to make out to this person he was interested. As we know now, Chlld Avatars are adults like ourselves, met many over my time in SL, took them sailing, shopping, and they were all 20-40 something. You can still find stores that you can buy pretty girls frocks and things, for child avatars. These discussions about child Avatars etc, is a complex and sometimes still a grey area. But The Child Avatar that was approached by this reporter in guise made a complaint, to LL, when ARs and other matters were looked into within 24 hours. The result, was that, it was proved, that the child in question, was in fact an adult, NOT an underaged child, which lots of news stories, wrongly said they were. That satisfied the countries that were uncomfortable allowing its citizens to perhaps interact with 7 year olds, when in FACT that wasn't the case.

This poster brings up a valid thread, I actually remember how I heard about second life, not from the web or a friend, It was actually a Sky news breaking story of a childrens abuse playground. This business reared it ugly head again in 2007 as said, And The UK govenment at that time, nearly decided to ban United Kingdom players from using Second life. Our LEGAL rules in this country are very strict, its an offence, even to depict or draw porn like cartoon child images or videos in this country, even to have such images on your computor can be an offence here. A lot of people in uk, stopped visiting a lot of the adult parts of SL at the time. because reporters were going in and looking for content or, maybe some home office snoopers, would be looking for offenders. Anime cartoons, have always been a favourite art form for me, but any under age content, which in Anime, there is a fine line to what is and what isnt, I delete or put on a CD, just to be on safe side. Differant countries have differing regulations, But I know germany and many other EU states have outlawed looking/ or engaging in acts, even in a virtual world such as second life, which has any connection to kiddy pixel sex or abuse. The OP, is very right to be concerned. I well remember the Long threads in here, of that time, and I supported the Child Avatar groups, when I was invited to visit some of them at the sims they lived in. Sadly this sim owner is, going to attract press attention soon, if he is not careful, and any bad publicity for the genuine Children players is always going to be a bad thing for them again. LL will only act, if A news story breaks and someone from LL will have to answer some questions. sadly, ARs and other complaints rarely seem to get addressed these days!!

As one poster was saying, Its your activities that you enjoy that make your experiance worth staying For me, The lack of what I did spend time and money is all but gone. 1 Dancing / making a few Lindens in tips, being a dancer manager or owing my own club, is not financially viable any longer. Dancers have to be paid too, that used to come from club owners or the tips being split by the tip boxes. 2 Many hours of my time were spent in urban Combat sims, employing a huge array of melle or Gun weapons/ being in factions, making a lot of friends and also being an officer in some factions, allowed a lot of interaction with many people. As I pointed out earlier , since LL let in the teens in, The combat sims that were being succesful, were unable to control teens, that had no courtesy, no respect for other players, indeed. not even Admins, who have to rule the combat. there are very few Urban combat sims left. The once great NOR is a tiny shadow of its former glory, which used to have, 100 players in its sims at times. 3 Flying Aircraft has been my main calling in second life, I have/ or did have , 15 differant types, from WW2 hurricanes to Huey Helicopters, to a DC10 jetliner. But all these vehicles fail to cross a long line of oceans to the next airport, even though we were promised that this would be addressed. I installed the Dolphin Viewer, as on the web page, it says, it was developed for enhanced vehcicle crossings, but, sadly , in any 2 hours of flying, you just crash off world up to 20 times. I would always come back to SL, if some of the Activities above, were there, or improved to enjoy.

Sy, I would like to quickly comment on your post. Going backwards, I'm afraid your wrong about LL Not advertizing, "make Money fast in Second life". many folk were lead into sl, with the false notion it was going to be a second or third income, this is a well known fact, that was the slogan in 2006-7. Mind you, before the hike in land prices, it was possible to make some money at that time, and I did do for a short time, never needing to buy Lindens, I was able to work for my objects and clothes at that time. The confusion over the the 3D programs, I understand, but this was because the ones I already had including photoshop elements, were no longer supported by Win7, being 64 bit. hence I had to invest £200 in all new software that was 32 bit XP, even the sound card, was no longer supported by win7 leaving me, with either keeping the onboard tinny sound or spending £60 on a soundblaster top end one, that is win7 compliant. Im afraid Sy, you can not build complex items or unique items without securing them from people too ready to clone your items..... my last building platform was 600 high, with 3 security orbs. Unfortuently because i use a lot of mega prim platforms, together with large mock ups of Airbus 320s, and some editing programs like AC3D need a lot of room to attempt rezzing without causing off world parts to go into parts of another part of an estate sim on top of that, to be able to add , like control tower or sim wide sounds, plus your objects assigned to your working group, you have to have estate rights..! I bought the win7 PCI computor, because Snowglobe stopped working, and my old xp computor couldnt use any of the new viewers without crashing before i even stepped out of a sim. I like to use differant programs, than just one, so I use Google sketch up, which allows uploadable objects, along with AC3D, I use sometimes, photoshop elements I use for all my texture making and photo editing, as I say was no longer compatable, and I had to purchase one of the later Elements that was supported.. Hope that makes things clearer My point of actually purchasing a win7 comp, was to improve rezzing and crossing sims, as most of my activity is flying or sailing

Thank you carole:) before I can't Post any longer, I hope someone from LL does take some notice of my ramblings:P Of course I have 60 days to reconsider, But don't think much will change in that time. Tbh LL has done absolutely nothing to restructure any of the main infrustucture within sl since I joined, apart from the wonder of viewer2!! One of biggest boosts, to kick start SL and get people back, is to make Homesteads available to Anyone to buy them. Why On earth do you have to own an out of reach priced full sim, to be able to purchase a Homstead is beyond me. I know at the momment tier rates to lease an estate homstead /Island whatever, have had to come down in price, or sim estate owners would never rent them. Thats good news, but the amount you pay, is still linked to the US$ currency rate, and that could go sky high at anytime. Luckily the GBP is strong against the $, so we are getting a very good rate of lindens at the present time. But I much rather pay, say 300US$ for a homestead sim, that I have control of, and can rename or do what i like with it, instead of paying 7.5K a week constantly, which is never mine. In fact, if, you were having some success with that homestead, it would be even better that you might be able to afford a second one, and join it to the one you have. Observations for a long time, now show, that 2-3 sims connected, offering a variety of interests, including some sailing room, attract more Folk, than a single sim, perched in a blue void on its own. Me and my sl Partner Sue, who was an estate manager when I met her, have made quite a few glorious sims, with many many hours amd L$ put into them. But even paying the advertizing of 1000L a week, plus the full Sim tier rent, almost no one visited or stayed in any of the hotels or took a parcel. perhaps If we could have bought 2 homesteads between us, and made both sims, with both ocean, and land, plus the off world backgrounds now, are truly one of the more exciting items , that make sims seem twice as big as they are. We had an Avatar Sim, with the Floating mountains high above the sim, standing on one of these, looking out onto green mountains, that looked like part of the sim, was one of our favourite themes. sadly, we have so many Avatar items, especially The plants, grass and animals, There was no way, we could cover a homestead sim with only 3750 prims. The RDA buildings and compound, even though I modified it, was still taking 250 prims alone. Me and Susan Don't want to leave SL., we being forced to, because Susans no longer able to afford the tiers we used to pay , circa 2008-9. I retired now, but although me and my wife arent short now, basic commoditys are going up so quick, we could easily be in trouble quickly. I believe this must be one of the most expensive games going.... Don't forget,the new TOS of last year, consistantly maintained in its TOS that this is a "Game", not a living, Linden $ are not real money, play money thay call it. That statement lead me into a row with LL over that sentence, because Linden $ is a real currency as its floated on the Financial markets, linked to the US$, the rate of lindens you get for your US$ depends on the currency rate on the day, which means L$ is real currency and I still maintain that. I play many other games, I purchase coins, and other units of things, but these never change because the £ is lower than the $ or the euro is stronger then the yen lol. Actually I made an error on the amount I gave to LL since 2007, that should have read £2000. many will think in relation to some spends, thats not a lot, but for playing a game, with hardly any support or ARs dealt with, the constant errors, loss of items. none returned and sim crossings which still are a joke, do you think its value for money? Also another Fix thats needs doing, is to scrap the punitive L$ charged to upload sounds and images. I dont pay to upload picture to many sites, neither do many have old fashioned Quicktime mp4 as its video base. After reading all the posts in this thread, I come across many creators, saying they have put prices down in line with the world recession and other problems, But in Aviation , Creators have actually INCREASED there prices, when once a I could by a certain plane for 3,500L$, 12 months ago, that same aircaft has shot up to 4,500L$. I wanted to buy a certain new jetliner today, before I realised, if i can't fly it, because of the Sim crossings being so , so bad, why should I invest the 6000L$ the creator wants for it? If second life worked properly, then I would still be here tommorow, and would have bought the plane, but there is so much more going on here that is, not just about profits, sim prices and the rest, its also about the constant failings of the platform to actually work like its supposed to, So , again, this is not just about not affording sims. i migrated to WOW some time ago, and was astounded by the lack of lag, the rich rendering and lots of great things to do, and a vast world, which I havent hardly touched even though im level 36. For £8.99 a month, I know im getting value for money, which I'm not here any longer. If i went and opened another airport, in Blakes seas, if people can't fly to it, because their plane keeps going offworld, then how am i supposed to rent out several hangers and parking spaces, and cover my costs? So, its not just about prices, its also the poor reliabilty of second life, that is contributing to it downfall. Pheonix and dolphin viewers are almost unusable to players on XP computors now, especially with old AGP graphic cards. I upgraded my old xp computor last year to a 1gig one, which cost me nearly £100, and all I got all over the screen, was sharp pieces of colour, huge blank textures, that you couldnt see anything through. I had to return to Snowglobe. (see my previous post) This is another point LL fails to grasp. Many people are having to hold on to there old computors, cos they just can't afford new ones, I used to get a new one every 2 years, but thats out of the question now... it needs electricity to run them, which the price tarrifs by some electric companys in the UK its nothing short of scandelous. The win7 one I have now, although, as I have said, does not stop the crashes, or boats and planes ending up on the sea floor when crossing sims anyway, will have to last at least 5 years, before im in another position to buy another one.

After being in , which was a wondeful universe in 2007, its with musch sadness that I close my account today. The reasons are, that, when I joined sl in 2007, It was a very differant place to what it is today. Main problems why I leave: The Clubs I used to dance and make Lindens,have all but gone, finding people to tip you 500L like they used to do, is like gold dust. The Teen grid being merged, was one of the most idiotic things LL ever did, over night, many of the urban combat sims were not able to control the teens, who not abide by the rules, that we, as adults respected and took our punisment on the nose itf it was warrented. Most of the urban combat sims, including new ones like nasturtuim, closed in weeks, because it was impossible for the owners to control. So the shemale clubs, the urban sims have declined so much, so in 2008 began learning Aviation, flying and making things. I owned 3 airports, flew Blakes seas, when it was possible, and became an ATC for a time. In 2010 I was having serious trouble with my snowglobe viewer, and my old xp computor, could not run the laden phoenix or dolphin viewer, I started losing items, crashing, not rezzing at around christmas of 2011. But I wanted to build properly, so I invested in an expensive win7 computor and upgraded it with a higher end supported nvidea graphic card. Im already on cable internet. I purchased 3 new 3D programs costing a lot of money to create , and mainly learn how to build Aircraft. I also needed a homestead another 65k sim to work in. To my disapointment, the new computor made ZERO differance to how The viewer worked, which was dolphin, as it was made with vehicle improvements with better crossings in mind. however, Even when I was told that sim crossings had improved since LL did some work only a few weeks ago, I flew 4 aircaft 1 helipcopter and one Cigar cruiser through 3 sims near Acknefar oceans, in Blakes seas, ALL 6 vehicles failed to cross just 3 sims out within 40 mins. then we have the Millionare land owners, asking 175,000L$ for a tiny piece of land near by, boasting "sail and Fly 160 sims". What a joke!! I don't think Linden labs, are living in the real world for a long time. Do they know the Eurozone crisis, the middle east problems is getting deeper every day, did they know, the United kingdom where I live has austerity measures and cuts in benefits pensions, plus an 11% rise in our heating bills? Not to mention paying about 16US$ A GALLON for diesal fuel, for our cars? Is LL aware there teen audience in the UK of 18-24 year olds without jobs, is now 1Million 120thousand!!! In 2011 I expect lesser crashes and a stable platform, which is now the norm in many new and even older MMORG games, who have continued to evolve harware and servers , to satisfy the discerning player, who for a reasonable price, requires a stable game play, what ever it is. If LL canot support Such a platform, which continually fails every day, year out year in, it should go completely. As one poster says, Second life is now a out of date lumbering dinosaur, and for me, the activities I used to enjoyed are being whittled away at an alarming rate. I would love my own sim to own out right, but How can LL possibly justify the price of 1000US$, in a time, where basic items to be able to live, in most countries, especially in the EEC are almost trebling every 3 months. Friends, of whom I used to have many, have already deserted the sinking ship last year, im annoyed I bought a brand new computor to get better performance out of second life, and I wasted my money, because Linden labs know there sinking fast, and, wont invest in new techonolgy. My usual market place item purchases and land tiers spend per annum, in 2009 was around 100,000L$. In 2010 that had fallen to 65,000L$. This year, because I need to pay a lease on my mobilty scooter, from jan 2011 to today 24th Nov 2011 has been a mere 30,000L$. After I leave, I will have left behind 36000 items, 15000 of them, I have no use for them, as the activities I used a lot for, has long gone. In a way,i feel ripped off by LL, by giving them £1000 since 2007, with little chance of making, what was advertized at the time, BIG MONEY. I hardly made any money, even when I had some stores in shemale clubs, i just covered the rent. One reason Im also leaving, but is pertinent, is the tragic loss , due to a car accident. of my dear Aviation friend Toni Silverweb. She also, spent huge amounts of money within the Aviaion community, also she had quite a few sims that were joined up, and had many aircraft and combat items, the loss of her in second life was very profound to me, and LL has lost a very long term user/ paying customer, so with me leaving as well, the combined loss to LL of income in the year 2012 will be at least 300,000L$ alone, because, Second life, is now the domain of mutilple sim owners, and, is now only a playground for the rich, NOT the poor or the low paid working class, who want to do more than walk empty sims.... I close now and wish all my friends god speed, and I say RIP Toni, and RIP SL, because its nearing its useful end.

Well , no help at all for Airline Bussiness's, trying to fly through the sims in Blakes Seas, Avatar crossing may be improved, ((dont know yet, my snowglobe suddenly became so unstable I couldnt use it any more, but this new Phoenix, is too much strain on my old computor and wont even rez land, only the water, until 5 mins has past, then land and buildings may appear)) so cant use SL anyway at momment. NO mention was made of civil aviation jetliners passengers, or ships carrying passengers, If falling out, or attachments keep going offworld , I stay away from sl, because im not putting 16K into a 65k Airport Complex each week, if flights dont get to their defined destinations, a real airline would be broke within a week. Unlike people Who come here for fun, a lot of us, run an airport, marina, sublet terminals etc to make a profit, or at least cover land tiers. Shame about Blue Mars, but their land pricing structure was strange to say the least?

Hi ,I have a real problem, I cant find the answer too:( Since my account was reactivated after 3 months, Im unable to log in to any viewer, be it snow globe, tried phoenix and Emergance, all I get each day, "The System is logging you out, your account wont be ready until so and so time, but each time I try and log in, the time gets longer by 5 minutes, When I do manage to get logged in, I instantly crash, and cant even cross one sim boundary, without the whole lot freezing, then Im back to . "Log in failed, I have to wait 2 hours or more, as being logged out. I dont see a ticket submit form for this problem, could someone point me in the direction I need please, so I can found out why Its still logging me out. after 12 hours still? many thanks Mich
