It may be an inconveneince to you. At least not any tom, Dick, Or Hary can just flat claim any account. If they didnt take these security measures, you would be in here complaining that they just gave your account away because of lack of security

I don't think it is wise to feed human food to dogs. It is abuse to your animal because he/she doesn't know what is good or bad for it. I know a Lady that always fed her dog steak and dinner scraps. All of her dogs died early and suffered. Still to this day, she doesn't beleive she is killing her own dogs. Even though the vet says so as well.

Ive been in Sl for about 7 years and ran 2 popular clubs/ mentored etc. with many tip jars or donation boxes. I Never been blocked from logging in because of receiving bad funds. I can see how it would be a concern. But seems there is more to that story if you ask me. But thats just  my oppinion. If it was so easy to wreak havoc on someone this way then it would going on a lot.

It used to make me cringe sometimes when I would get $L10,000 donations, wondering if it was legit money, but never once was an issue concerning lindens in my 6 years running popular clubs

All security blocks can be circumvented basically. Its not hard to get a new IP. If their hardware is banned then get a new hard drive or hack the drive info and change the numbers. If their Mac address is banned then they change Mac address. VPN can also be used to circumvent.

Blocks and rules keep the honest people out. It would take legal action to their ISP and local law enforcement.

If someone send you money that you don't know, then return it, then you wont get in trouble..

I had a person tell me once that they got lindens from someone else's account and asked if I wanted it. I said no. I want no part of it. He sent me the money anyway. I sent it back and filed an abuse report because the activity was suspicious. And that's how you stay out of trouble.

 

More investigation goes into it than just slamming anyone who received stolen money.

I dont see how blocking payments while off line will solve anything. When you log in and see extra cash then its not too hard to look up transaction history and return the money. I doubt LL bans anyone for unsolicited payments

Sad really. And the reality of it is, that this is just not in Mumbai. Human trafficing is a bad problem world wide. Maybe the spam bots should be tracked and arrested in connection with human trafficing. I doub't anyone on SL is attracted to the spam

Yes, I fully agree. There is always room for improvement and I hope they continue to do so with it. And yes I can not see wasting time on a mesh floor that is flat when 1 prim in world can do the job lol. I really havent been in a place that is overly done in mesh yet. I must get out sometime lol

Yes I fully understand where you are coming from . far from perfect that's for sure. Better than nothing lol. Materials took a nice leap in to the sceen while everyone still twiddles their thumbs waiting for a viable solution for a deformer, but my thumbs are getting raw, twiddlin away as no news or progress with it.

Hopefuly things advance in that direction. One can only hope it gets better. :smileyhappy:

Yep . Bad creators cause the bad feelings. . Not too long ago a resident posted in the Mesh forum asking why many of the faces of their dress are missing. I simply said the dress had 65,000k too many polys. She came back and said that It was not too many. She stated that everyone is using that many polys for their clothes. Claiming the top designers do. I pretty much laughed. Not only will this designer lose a lot of customers because they will crash all the time. But Sl may lose one as well because they can't log in anymore LOL.

Releasing mesh without a proper deformer system wasn't the best way to go, but having that many polys is way out of line for a small dress LOL .

I made this skirt with 1560 faces and it is rigged like liquid mesh. There is no sense in using millions of polys for an object unless it is the size of a region LOL

BTW I am no expert for sure but modeling low poly should always be in the mind of the creator.I am sure the average player doesn't have a bad azz PC like I do and can not handle the high poly mesh

 

If Sl had a better physics system maybe things would be different...

I recently learned rigging to the volume bones  (Liquid Mesh). Which allows my clothing to be resized while the user changes his or her shape from the sliders. Dont think deformer will ever be finished

Some try to say this will break our content in the future. I doubt it

 

Even if deformer is released. I doubt we will never get away from having to make an alpha for mesh clothing without making major changes in the physics engine

I doubt it. I havent heard any news. Perhaps he/she just had a banned IP and the VPN allowd access. When My IP was banned because I obtained an IP that was already banned in SL. I used my VPN to get in. I live in the USA

I would imagine bad mesh creators can cause this kind of feeling of hate towards it. Mesh is no different than a regular prim. The prims are basicly mesh/obj type content. The default avatar is mesh. The land is mesh.. Its all mesh if you think about it

You might be able to take the region over if the resident doesnt pay the tier. So submit a ticket and ask if that can be done

 

They may be able to do that and remove the persons objects but it is a long shot

 

Look in about land on general tab . there should be a date the land was claimed. The Claimed date should be the tier date

there is a program called CPUz and GPUz. they are tools to monitor your CPU load and temperatures as well as memory use etc, use it while running SL and see which one is taking the biggest hit on performance

[Lights]

Yeah having attached lights are good for users who have crappy video cards. But it ruins it for those who have a good card. I disabled attached lights several years ago because I got tired of my view/sceen being bleached out from face and body lights. It is pretty overwhelming when you actually turn it back on after having them disabled for a long time lol
