5. Search needs to be fixed and needs it now. Do a PG search for adult keywords and you'll see what I mean. Make sure you uncheck mature and adult. I did just that and was surprised at what I had found. There was one sim called Dark City OC, This sim was advertising Sex, torture, Murder and so forth. A sim such as this at the least should have an adult rating. The sick you-tube video posted above discussed the police investigating the pediphile, rape and torture clubs. That is a good thing as the idea that people find this enjoyable is rather disturbing. Linden Labs does need to enforce their adult content policies and quite possibly change the mature/moderate ratings to not allow adult content. There is an Adult Continet for this and without some clever trickery, the teens should not be able to enter. Ok look its good you did the search so now you know why we are saying search is borked. Also stripping adult content off of mature is a no go for people like me who stick to our private homes. I'm on secondlife with my legal real life husband. We don't belong in Zindra and we are no longer on the mainland. Maybe it would work if adult content was stripped from mainland and those with islands or landlords leave it to the landlords to decide (did i spell that right decide?) Also You will find there will be Major content issues as this effects everything from skins, to cloths, poses and animations, furniture etc. What was acceptable before may not even be legal according to Laws. Other virtual sites were forced to put into place a perma bathingsuit over private parts of minors where adults then had to pay for access in order to be nude on their own spaces etc.

other sites that allowed both minors and adults on them minors wasn't allowed any nudity at all. PG areas don't allow these things per the rules. Please Ishy take a look at other virtual sites compaire the rules and terms on sites that allow minors and adults to mix. The minors get the short end of the stick but the adults become so restricted that we actually do pay for it with legal complications as well as loose most things we actually buy and pay for. Same thing is gonna happen here. It really is a disneyfication.

Rated content or a way to rate content was suggested a long time ago and Yes overly detailed skins would probably be set to adult. SL is following the course of other sites that allowed Minors in. If you study any of the sites rules and regs you'll pretty much see what Will be required in the end.

Adult and Mature sims will be for adults. If people are doing non-PG things in PG sims, that should be adressed anyway. As for the "Sample Sally sees humping when she cams across the sim and her mom calls the police" scenario, I seriously doubt that LL will have no policies regarding such scenarios. This right here is what I've been saying. Even with written rules there is nothing no programs or filters to keep content of an adult nature from entering pg sims or being rezzed there. That is what I'm fighting for. We need a way to rate our content so as to put filters to keep certain content from being rezzed in PG sims.

It could be quite possible with the changes that we have been seeing, that Second Life is being packed into a nice neat package ready for sale. I agree with you there. I second this agreement On another note On other VR's When I went into a public area that did have teens in it these sites had my age displayed on them everyones age was displayed. Even in my own public area I had Teens come in insult me for being my age and being in a game. Can you assure me I wont meet with that same form of hostility here. No you can't. Also I really have nothing against Teens, kids etc I have my own. If I wanted to be in a world with Teens, kids etc I would of stayed in the worlds I was in with them. How do I know you ask well quite simply I laugh them off annoyed that I am and ask them politly not to do it again. At least not around me. Gestures in a club are ok Do I really care for them Not when a place is packed with people I don't. Do I have some yes I do. Pre set statements and facts. I often get asked the same questions over and over again so instead of typing the same thing in over and over again I'll hit on the corrisponding gesture. Most of what I make would be considered very PG or G rated art wise that I make in outside programs. Landscapes etc. I make those for those photo studios that are out. They would be appropiate for teens. I no longer sell in world as Web based content is easier to set ratings on. My main issue is there are no programs or filters to keep adult items out of pg areas except for a set of written rules which you got to admit looking over pg lands yesterday hardly anyone follows. Search is borked. Speaking as a parent My teen will not join till he is 18 and even after that I'll make sure hes well behaved on the main grid. I don't want to parent anyone elses kids, No one else should either.

One since they highered a marketer to market SL which comes from WOW I'm willing to bet they are going for a game site for all ages. You watch once this place is disneyfied LL will have another problem that the other sites have that is the black market. Which is a pain in the butt.

How would you know? You know how many forms of dyslexia there is? Do you know how hard it is to have to memorize the keyboard and words. I do not have a photographic memory. Firefox does not catch everything. Back onto the subject. Has anyone ever done a search in just the general tab for adult keywords of an adult nature? Why don't you do that and see if your horrified by the results as I was. This grid is no where near ready for minors. Get the grid ready for minors then add them IDC I'll be content to hide out to stay away from them. I have serious doubts as to these adults that wants these minors here as they either have thier heads in the clouds or are not thinking of the best intrest of minors. Do the search find the results or just keep speaking with your head in your arses attacking people who are putting forth ideas of how to maximize safety for all.

Also it is more of a legal matter with kids being on the grid now at least till they add a way for creators to rate their content so as to provide filters and programs to keep adult content out of pg areas and to prevent them from being rezzed in pg areas. I did a search on some of the adult key words in the viewer today all pg serches for adult search terms and visited the places. They were all in pg sims and filled to the brim with adult sexual content. Landing in any pg area for an adult is going to get iffy and these were shops as well as hang outs that I visited.

Just common sense, take your head out of the clouds. You're thinking quite highly of yourself and all the other so-called "adults," yet the way you think and behave is typical of the way you say the teenagers, or "kids" as you like to incorrectly call them, always behave. One Not all of us have our heads in the clouds. 2 you are kids to me I'm going to be 40 this month so yeah I look at anyone who is around the age of my kids as kids. Its a different mindset that a lot of us was rasied with. Call us the older generation as you will but your still kids to most of us. Not all kids behave not all adults behave. I've seen some of the most vicious attacks on kids here and adults too for that matter in the past 2 months. I've been called a perv, I've been called a child hater when in fact I've been trying to put forth ideas to make the grid safer and minor ready. I have down right begged for proper filters and content ratings to keep you guys safe. I'm a parent and a mother and wouldn't want any kids in the kind of situations that I know from past experiance in other worlds that is going to happen here. I just want safety for kids and adults and if you get offended by being called a kid so be it, to me at my age you are a kid.

You seem to be forgetting that it was advertised as 18+ for quite some time. Since the start as a matter of fact. In the USA 18 is considered an adult. Your world, your imagination plus the fact it was advertised as 18+ means it was advertised as an adult world and an adult service. No not sex but seemly some have a problem with people that like to hang around with adults only. I personally would have no problem with minors being on the grid if the grid was minor friendly but it is not! I would just avoid areas that are PG and I'm going to avoid areas that are PG. No I'm not one of the Zindra folks Been there once not my thing left at once. I'm an artist point blank.

In the very first post when the grid merger was announced I was talking about the K-12'th educators especially one that I got in an arguement with over why it is a bad move to bring minors into a grid that is not minor friendly. As a parent I didn't agree with that however There does and will be upped cost somewhere along the lines if they are working on new filters for the main grid. Programming and scripting is not cheep by any means, takes a lot of hours and is ususaly underpaid. I however don't really agree with this move either as I see a pattern here looks like they are following other VR's. First zindra followed by other things then the merger then they higher a marketer from WOW now this. Follow my line of thinking you'll see its logical. (sorry about the spelling I'm dyslexic)

This is far from an accurate representation of the majority of residents in Second Life. If it was they would have to change the name to Haters Life. These are the same people who come out and complain in the blogs about every decision that the Lindens make. Next week they will be complaining about the price of tea in china. This is why the Lindens do not interact with the blogs as much as they used to do. Do you blame them? Now the cyberbullies want to scare the teens from the main grid with all of these hatful and intolerant comments towards the teens. Just ignore them. You will more than likely never even see any of them If these people are so afraid of being arrested by undercover police posing as teens in the PG areas, here is an easy way to avoid this, keep the weird stuff in the adult sims and out of the PG ones. That is not to hard to do. Not really an apt description and not all of us are bad however I'm more worried about content getting into pg areas and the safety of minors in general. There is nothing to keep such content from being rezzed in pg sims there really isn't a good filter in place to keep minors from getting to mature regions with that notecard that is passed around either as has already been proven however not gonna go searching for that again so don't ask. Once the switch over or merge is done I don't ever intend to enter a PG sim ever again which means there are a lot of businesses that is going to Loose my buisness and some clubs and classes I will never see again. I have no problem with this. I am a parent first IE a mother and well when it comes to minors I tend to treat them as if they were my own regardless of whos they are. I was rasied by a teacher so I have that teaching instinct that I was raised with unfortinitly. I came to SL because it was 18+ at the time if it wasn't I would of never came here. There are many more like me I'm afraid to say. So once this merge is done I will never EVER set foot in a PG sim again.

Most of the educational places that was to house the 13 - 15 yr olds are now going to leave to other places because they don't want to pay a non discounted price for land. That also means that these minors wont be here because their educational places wont exist anymore.

If you have any real content in SL... for goodness sake, back it up now. Either make sure you have the "originals" on your RL hard-drive or export your stuff to another grid or two immediately. I've seen this pattern before. It's not a good sign. Me too I've seen this pattern several times and I have all my stuff on 3 tb drives

@ Ayla Well at least some educators have some common sense It's not common sense making them leave its the fact that LL took away their educational and non profit discount on land.

Kudos I second this And as far as this announcment post goes Let us remember a lot of the educational people as well as the non profit people are headed out due to the latest LL announcment.

Trust me, once it's known that your business is owned by a kid, no one on the MG will shop there. Actually to me it doesn't matter if its a kids buisness or adults if its in a PG area I just wont go there. I'm not the only one that feels this way either.

true storming off to cool down is one thing storming off is a form of pouting. At least I can say my son will be joining SL in Jan after he turns 18. He shut down his teen SL account disabled it himself. That was his objection I really think he should of kept the account then log in on his B-day but he said nah.

Yes I agree that it all smells however attacking each other does nothing trying to provide samples of solutions might. I also as an adult realize that this move to merge the grids isn't anyones fault but one and that it is a LL buisness move that affects everyone. The minors didn't cause this really, We didn't ask for this but its gonna happen. Arguing and complaining isn't going to do anything. I would agree to having all the mainland set as PG it's that way in other virtual worlds and should of been from the get go here.

Number 2 isn't really a fail as to the TOS there are pg areas that is only supposed to allow pg content so its not really a fail.

lol Yeah I am the fact is the Main grid is not minor friendly in any case. Which poses a real threat to teens and adults. Does LL care probably not they are only interested in their bottom line after all. Business is buisness no matter where it comes from. I've already resigned myself to stay out of pg areas.
