  1. I did a terraforming class once at Builders Brewery... after an introductory lecture, she had us practice. When we first started, we got that same ""You are not allowed to terraform parcel Builders Brewery Terraforming Help Practice Area".. then she adjusted the land settings and we could all practice.

That lead me to suspect that edit terrain is not always turned on at the builders brewery practice areas, but just enabled in conjunction with their classes.

I have 2 adjacent horizons parcels. For the longest time I had a house on one and a horse pasture on the other. But about 6 or 7 months ago I decided to redo and landscape for nature with a tiny shack for a home... it is about 5x8 but I manged to get just about everything I need in it.

There is an upper loft with the bedroom, and the rest of the house is crammed into the lower level. Since there wasn't room for a bathroom, I added an outhouse and outdoor shower.

It is surprisingly comfortable and the outside has a lovely stream with a tiny waterfall and small lake. I have been enjoying this new landscaping much more that the usual run-of-the-mill house I had before.

I just sold that parcel so the house and landscaping are not there anymore. But I have a new place I am just finishing up landscaping and hope to show off soon.

If you can afford 14 LI for a bed, there's a very nice one on sale at Bricolage this weekend - several texture change options for all the various bits. As there's no info to the contrary, I assume the folk art and the rug are included. PG or A $75. The 3 LI bedside table is sold separately for $75. It has texture change options that match those for the bed. (The decor items on top are nothing special, and I don't know if they're included.)

    bric.jpg

I bought the bed(PG version) and nightstand and yes, the decor items are available with the nightstand but are extra LI.

The color selection is rather limited on texture change, but I found I could tint the wood to a shade I liked. I am not in love with the nightstand tbh, but the Bed is darling cute. Also I like the poses on the PG bed.

Thanks for telling us about this one!

  5. I have been jumping through hoops with many  premium alts to keep mainland land tier at $22.00 per month. Now with the price reduction spending $31.00 per month doesnt feel as bad as speding $35.00 .. I am not sure why that feels so much better, but it does... I mean it is only $4.00 USD per month difference (1/2 of 1 annual premium monthly fee equivalent) but .. well it feel like such a good deal. I can pay $31.00 per month for 8192 and get a Premium plus allowance for the other 2048 I need.... and start letting my extra annual premiums expire.

If nothing else, it will make my bookkeeping and keeping track of things easier.

I am happy with the price reduction.

Note the Minimap is your friend sailing rivers. Bring it up with Ctrl Shift M and R-Click to show property lines.

thanks for the hint on showing property lines!

I dont know how I managed to do it.. but I ran into banlines of parcels bordering the protected ocean 3 times in a row at three different locations. As I said, I am not the most skilled sailor... and probably something experts can easily avoid.

Your alt logging in while you are logged in is not the "same avi".  Each are different accounts.  You can run as many copies of the viewer as your computer can support, with each viewer logging in a different account/avatar

What you cannot do is log the exact same account/avatar in to multiple viewers at the same time.

In theory that is how it is supposed to work. However a couple of times I have run into a bug where I log out  (my main) then log back in to a different location.

A couple of times I the log out did not complete and even 5 or 10 minutes later it was still there. I could so limited functions (turn in place and see local chat and continued chat in any already opened group chat window) but I could not walk/move, use my inventory folders, talk in local or open chat windows.

My other login session was on a different region. When I brought her to the region where my original session still lingered, both sessions were kicked offline.

This happened to me on three separate occasions but it has not happened in a very long time.

  8. In a way, I share your frustration about ban lines along water routes... I bought a lovely parcel on Wakely (which is a very nicely maintained/decorated region). The parcel had a bit of water access and I parked a boat off a small pier and set off to go sailing. To my dismay I ran into ban lines .. did not see them until it was too late.. and my boat "broke" in that the scripts stopped working and I couldnt move it after editing it away from the ban lines. I went back to my parcel, rezzed another boat and start sailing again, careful to avoid that area -- and hit another set of ban lines.. even though I did not think I was sailing particularly close to the shore. So I went back and tried it again... same problem.

Now I am not a particularly skilled sailor and it may be that experienced boat operator have the skills to avoid the problems I ran into. But for my humble skills, I decided this area is not sail-able.

Am  I upset with the property owners who had ban lines up? No, of course not. It is their private property and it is not their fault that LL decided to make that area not a protected region. But yea, it was frustrating to try and sail there because I am not a very skilled sailor and I kept running into ban lines and breaking my boat.

However, I found a solution ... one that may not be available to everyone but worked for me. I just had a birthday and used birthday gift money to buy another parcel on the other side of the dam with direct access to sea of Fables. The area is not nearly as pretty as Wakely, but I can sail from there to my hearts content.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many cuz I get attached and can't let go and thennnnnnnnnnn LL releases another new theme and I haaaaaaaaaaave to try one of those homes too, right?  Right????  Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh...........

yea I have a similar problem. I get a nice location (not necessarily an epic location), decorate it and fall in in love with it after having decorated. This makes it very had to give it up.

For that reason I now have 6 linden homes that I consider keepers. I almost never roll for a home when I have a free premium alt, cuz I am afraid I will land something I love and my number will go up again. I also have a couple of premium accounts I use to pay for a mainland tier.

My goal is to eventually get down to three linden homes.

But all my premiums are annuals who dont expire for half a year or more, so I dont feel a great rush to reduce homes just yet.

  10. Tossing a NICE trad.. front view has park across from most of it, back view overlooks houseboats and ocean.  House is set back far from road with pretty front lawn area, flowers and fencing. There are close neighbors on both sides, but separated by tall hedge fencing.

I plan to release about 6 AM SLT today unless someone contacts me first to say they want to try for it before then.

  12. I dont think anyone has ever done this before .... Mt Campion is an extremely scenic place to take pictures, but the park is huge, spanning 6 mainland regions. It has almost 157,000 square meters of forest land, including scenic trails and pathways, streams, lakes and waterfalls. This makes it hard for people who are not familiar with the park to find some of the nicest places to take pictures.

So we are offering a photography tour on Sunday Oct 30, starting at 8:00 AM SLT. We will begin with a short talk about how to take nice pictures. The talk is by WrenNoir Cerise, who is the co-founder of Visionaire School of Photography. She will speak in SL voice only, so if you dont hear SL voice, you may perfer to come at 8:30 when the tour of the park begins.

At 8:30 AM SLT, we will hike from the Mount Campion Art Gallery to five scenic locations in the park, giving you 10 to 15 minutes to take a picture there. (If that isn't enough time to get the shot, you can make a LM to come back later or you can stay there and rejoin us when you finish). The picture taking hike is expected to last about 90 minutes.

The tour will start at the Mount Campion Art Gallery, with the talk on the upper level. We will leave the gallery area around 8:30 AM SLT to hike to the photography sites. Please join us:  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Highflyer/113/116/148
