I was more responding to the question regarding whether an item of clothing made using a ctemplate is a derivative of the original. No, you can't sell the templates, but you can sell the items you make using the templates.
You have to change more than just a pixel if you want to avoid copyright infringement.

using a template that was obtained legally and created for the purpose of creating clothing in SL is neither derivative nor a gray area. Templates are a legal, copyright-free resource, like for instance royalty-free stock photography.

That's seriously a shame considering how misinformed you seem to be regarding copyright law. Chosen is probably the most knowledgeable poster this forum has, and I for one am really grateful that Chosen chooses to share that knowledge with us here. To have access to Chosen's level of expertise usually requires tuition at the very least.

I've noticed a lot of inconsistencies in SL lately, from day to day it seems. For the most part I've not had many problems with SL lately but I did go through some bumpy transitions trying to find a V2 I could deal with. After trying several different viewers without correctly uninstalling previous viewers, I had tons of problems - couldn't stay in-world, crashed constantly, everything was gray, blah blah blah... But since I've settled on Firestorm and uninstalled everything else, it's working very well performance-wise.
I've been in SL since 2006 so I've seen good and bad times in here. I don't have a smoking great gaming rig, but my computer isn't ancient either and I keep it maintained, i.e. updates installed, update drivers when necessary, keep it virus free, the usual. I do have a good FIOS internet connection tho, and I think that probably helps more than anything else, but having said that, just earlier this week my avi wouldn't rez at all for several days in a row. I was thinking SL for me was over for good. After messing around with things I was wearing I think I have come to the conclusion that even tho we can wear many more layers than we used to, trying to log in while wearing the maximum layers or attachments or even several layered on one level (more than one shirt or pants tattoo or something) causes me problems. Its like SL can't remember where things are supposed to be on my av, it gets confused so it does nothing. I don't know but if I have avi rezzing problems I just take off layers until it's fixed, and it seems to work. At least it worked for me. Earlier this week. Not to say it will work again today or ever again... which is the basis of so many problems in SL -- different viewers, different issues, fixes that sometimes work and sometimes don't....
I'm sorry you're having so much trouble and I hope things improve for you. I feel your pain, but thankfully from a distance.

Grab a few of the LAQ skin demo packs - most all of them have a version of the skin with little to no makeup at all, so don't go by just the photos you see displayed in the store; most skins have several to many, many variations they don't always display photos of.

As an in-world merchant I resent your implication that the merchants have anything to do with LL policies or attitude. Personally I've never treated my customers with anything other than respect and dignity. I started SL in 2006 and I don't think I've ever been treated badly by a merchant, either. By all means, boycott SL altogether if it makes you feel better tho, this forum too, it certainly can benefit from one less troll.
On a side note ~ you do realize how futile it is to try to keep women in SL from buying shoes and / or hair, right? Fuh-GETaboutit.

Truth has put out some, and they are FREE, yay! Amacci has some and Lelutka also.

another easy way to force SL to update your financial info is to rez a cube, set it for sale for 1L and buy it from yourself.

omg, maya, you can't be serious, if sl made you cry you really need to take a break from it. you invited people to do exactly what they did, then you freak out when they do it? perhaps next time you will believe what they tell you wihout you demanding proof. even if you were to rent a parcel and limit acess to only those on a list, people will still be able to cam into your home. and no offense intended, there are much more interesting places in sl to cam into than your home.

In my experience whenever there has been a delay in my being added to a group by a landlord the landlord has always credited me for the lost days - usually by giving me more than I had lost to begin with. Your new landlord will likely do the same.

sometimes all you need is patience. if the folders are still there, but are empty, your stuff probably isn't lost, the asset server may just be having issues. i hope this is the case for you.

you could try asking about sponsoring an event at the club.

it doesn't get much more official than the TOS, right?

the offset filter in photoshop can help make a seamless texture, but you will have to manually repair the areas that "touch" when the image is offset. I can walk you through it if you want, either PM me or message me in-world, or you can just search (google, youtube) for 'seamless texture making' or 'offset filter' and watch or read one of the tutorials.

the problem is, there aren't necessarily 'tricks' of the trade.
getting good at skin creating is hard, and requires a pretty high level of drawing skills, familiarity with the human body, musculature, how light and shadow work and throw in a good amount of skill with the software, as well as a huge amount of trial and error. learning the software alone is a big undertaking and can't be taught on a forum, but Chosen Few certainly did educate many people here. I'd search for Chosen's posts and read them all, definitely worth the effort.
there isn't just one easy answer, everyone has their own work flow and level of skill and experience with digital software; and also how much time and dedication they are willing to put into learning it. being good at doing something doesn't mean you are naturally good at teaching it, either. the ones who are making good money in SL in the skin trade are not spending much, if any, time here in these forums either.

What do the mesh dresses look like when an avatar sits? Would someone mind posting a pic of that?

if you've saved the pic to your inventory, you can always open it and "save as" to your hard drive. It's free. same with full perm textures.
