I'm curious, is anyone watching the likely region, or listening to Belli chat, to see if Whitney is actually doing these 1-region releases?  Or are they just ... happening without visible Linden intervention?

At work and not inworld, but  I would be curious from some of our experienced users:  Does a release usually happen South to North and West to East? or?  I'm thinking there might be a pattern?

Even with derendering, if it is a violation such that LL "would" act on it, it should be AR'd - for the benefit of everyone in Bellisseria.  Multiple Moles and Patch have stated that we should submit ARs for those things.

Not everyone has an option to simply De-Render, either.  I agree with Loretta that some good will & conversation can be a good start (in some situations) however no matter the polite way of discussing it, you can encounter the replies (& excuses) LittleMe experienced.

I too am a landlord, and a neighbor on Linden Land will respond in a totally different way from a Renter that is  directly beholden to the land owner or it's representative.

While there are some that will AR every little thing (or tell a neighbor every time they breach a covenant word),  I tend to just take the Mole direction to either AR-Ignore-or Leave.  It's their job to decide what's acceptable, not mine to tell a neighbor of their over-the-top infraction and deal with the fall out.   At this Rez age, I've only AR'd twice, and once was for rental box fraud.  The other was a Linden Covenant Infraction and after 2 1/2 months was time to report and ask it to be reviewed.

Whereas, there are few, that figure "if nobody around me says anything to me about it, then it is okay".

I actually had 2 people tell me this when I sent them a notecard and IM about their parcel being fully covered in snow with a blizzard going on.  One even said that if I didn't live in the region, I had no business saying anything about it.

Agree,.  I"m close to an area where 1 person set out a dock blocking part of a narrow river, a week later their neighbor in that region set out an even larger one in the ocean with an anchor prim. (hit 1 with a boat and 1 with the pontoon of my plane, lol).  Looked like the classic "they did it I, it's still there, I can too", rofl.    I figured it was close enough to Moles working, it would be seen eventually and gone; and it was gone a day or two later.

I do have a neighbor where a full lot covered in a white avalanche of snow is still in place & visible from space, rofl, although most of the obvious Christmas is gone.  Sent an AR maybe a week after the "should be removed by" date as we're instructed.  Figured they'd get to it and decide if ok,  and I just don't look much in that direction.

The Belli convenant is, again, a set of rules dropped on residents, but after short time hardly able to be maintained. In a year time some regions of Belli will be worse than mainland.

I'm hopeful it wont be equal to or worse than some Mainland locations. Linden Homes were\are geared towards newer\less experienced users to quickly get set up with a home while walking the line not to be competitive with all the freedoms offered in a Private Region.

Understandably, not everyone has (or can afford) the luxury of setting up alts to have multiple Linden Homes.  while AR - Ignore - Move was the directive to be used, once I've spent time and passion getting a home set up in a neighborhood I love (additionally if it was my only home), I'd be less inclined to move due to a neighbor's disregard-not readying the covenant infraction.  Depending on the offence, AR-Ignore sounds reasonable.

Covenants evolve, and learning what works and what could work better can take time.

  5. I'm guessing this blog wasn't created to make fun of people & make them feel bad.  I hope it stays Light & Funny, with a dash of curious oddities found. Adding some  "maybe that's a problem?" throw in;  avoiding the Fashion Police & perceived Décor Violation finger pointing.  I suspect most poster's here get that.

I  agree with Mz. CatNap:  constructive conversation can help us all grow.  Some posts have enlightened me about what is subjective, along with what is ok and isn't ( anchor prim conversation comes to mind).

And some things are just funny.  When you look at an open door or a back yard, sometimes  it can be an OMG followed by a big belly laugh.

Caption this?   Noticed it during a drive by.  Remodeling?  Maybe a new frat house moving in.

Leon came by a couple days ago and vacuumed while I (well, Litta) was furnishing our house!  He is a charmer.

Laughing, he said he had a new Vacuum & chainsaw!  When he finished, he asked if he could go inside and wash his hands, rofl.  It really made for a fun evening.

  7. Can you believe I just recently planted those flowers!

Well, I had to share with you a few more 'show and tell photos' around my yard, and introduce you to Leon Lewis, working in my yard!  Leon Lewis Hunter is a very polite young man, happy to (RP) cut the grass, water flowers/bushes, etc.

He's not running a business in Bellisseria (it's not allowed there), it's just his Roll Play.  If you see him around, be sure and say hello, I'll bet he'd love to meet you and clean up your yard or trim some branches!  I had some friends stop by to watch Leon work, and we loved it!

Disclosure:  He doesn't ask for $L or use a tip jar, understands you can't have a biz in Bellisseria (it's his RP fun),  and (currently) understands not to walk into houses without an invitation. he may see your dot on the map and say hello; he's a friendly kid.

Maybe give him a treat for stopping by like a cookie or a snack!   I need snacks in the house, so I did give Leon a few $L as a little tip (but that's how I roll). He wrote me the sweetest note card he will use my tip just to buy more tools for his Role Play.  I think Leon's mother would be very proud of him, and his visit made the day extra special.  I hope you get to experience his joy, too.

Hello neighbors.  This is my LH Traditional Continental, Overlooking the beautiful bridges in Oldridge.  Another amazing region by the Moles.  Lovely porch by Blush Bravin, and Continental Exterior paint shell by the very talented Christhiana. The texture is the LH - Traditional - Siding - Spring Moss + some tint towards brown.  I love the provided L exterior colors, but a little tint helped to stop my house being the same color as others close by while still using the same baseline texture.

…..Abnor already explained why automobiles are not allowed to be put onto the street and why there should not be any exceptions...

I've been curious about Auto's on the Street.  Do you know what was said or have a source link?  I suspect it's  because it would have to be linked to an anchor prim ends up on public land?   Does look cool, but rules are rules.  I keep one on my own driveway, but I am curious if that's the reason, thanks.

Sorry, confusion - my comment about the wood deck and the computer backlight was not referring to the picture that I posted.  The picture was just a repost of one that I posted a few days ago when I found the Radiation Monitoring Facility.

For the glow and computer backlight comment, I really was talking about the huge wood deck a few houses away.

I should put more space between comments when I put multiple comments into the same reply post.

got it, we're on the same page.   A previous poster remarked they kept getting the same lot over and over, I just suggested that deck a few houses away might be the cause. A house different than the construction house too :)

f you are talking about the large wooden deck, it isn't actually glow, but there is a computer "backlight" close to the house wall that is bleeding out and making part of the wood seem to glow.  Derender that one item and the glowing is gone.

Thanks!  this wasn't it,  this one is awesome!  About 2 houses away was a property sized deck around a house, and across from it was a house that doesn't stay owned very long.   No complaints about this, it's creative and awesome.

I am laughing... hopefully WITH YOU... on that one... but it's a desperate laugh...

lol, yes, with me.  The region name and the green waterfall says it all.  I love that the owner ran with the theme.  Had I landed on a nearby lot, I'd join in the fun, at least in the back yard .  It was done well (granted, a subjective opinion), and true it could get out of hand by a few who may not get coloring within the lines, but I don't think that's a reason to stop.  Never the less, it's fun, it's creative, unique and unexpected,  & it's sweet to visit something different,  and I hope we see subtle growth/change of their project over time.

Maybe eventually folks will join in region looks too, like everyone on a block hang a flag by their front door or use a common yard item in their neighborhood.  Right now, it's all about the big B, but it can be drilled down into unique blocks, too.

So I just grabbed the Citizen's Group notecard of resident builds to go see...

And the Permaglow place is in there. That construction look is intentional. It's meant to be a 'radiation monitoring facility'.

I guess that one is just a question of preferences. Given the region name and the waterfall that glows and the 3-eyed fish in the lake, they're probably in the right region for that build.

Oh I think the Construction look is Amazing!  another neighbor's bright textured deck over most of their lot is odd.

I remember when each of these 2 regions went live. They were hotly desired both here on the forum and with people in the Citizens group. Looks like that's changed I guess. Amazing locations, ruined by the neighbors.

That said, sitting in Hammond right now, I couldn't find the neighbor who's Inner Bubba got the best of them - perhaps they moved on or got the dogs and went hunt'n with that truck... O.o

They had it out for weeks, it was big & tall as the house.   I just stopped by too, it's all cleaned up.   It wasn't a bad thing, just a different look for Hammond Park.

You Could be right, Maybe they're on a hunt'n trip!  I sat in Maggie's house (previously Rocky Heights now in Hammond Park - Ocean side )  for weeks waiting for Hammond to release and not get one, then 4 days later I did.  Such an amazing location and Mole work.  Moved my Brown Continental to Oldridge, a very lovely equally unique area.

Considering the volumn of homes they've pumped out, the Moles have really done some amazing creative areas.

The elevators are definitely not the original ones. The original elevators were glass and beautiful.  The originals were not as reliable as the new ones seem to be. I remember when I first visited the Galaxy, it was the first time I had seen working elevators in SL and I was as amazed.

My 1st memory of the Galaxy was real working elevators, too.  Even with the original owners, it was a working ship with updates along the way.   RL cruse ships that are "saved" as museums (I'm thinking the Queen Mary) end up with some retrofitting to start with and then transition with additional updates as their role expands over time, keeping more of a "sampling" of what  previously was.   Perhaps that is what will happen with the Galaxy.

Thanks Mitch, I was hoping it wasn't just me. I have actually sat this morning and watched multiple people 'try' to enter the Delby Depths sim, only to drift out into space, vessels vanish and avis stuck in drivers poses. I have stripped my avi down to invisible wearing just 1 hud (9 scripts+11 in the jetskii), same results. Maybe safe to assume that region is borked .. guess i will try to go around behind the lighthouse and see what happens.

Yes, when I Crashed, was also locked up in the driver's pose.  Logging back on last night, could not go to "previous location" and had to log on back to Home location. It was late so only TP'd back to look for the plane and didn't try again.  Mind you, I TP'd from the world map onto the sandy Houseboat area nearby.

They have now moved the Bermuda Triangle to Bellisseria?  😂

Now that would be really fun, having a region close by with odd clouds/lights and a graveyard in the sky and sea of planes and ships to explore.  Of course it would need a Bermuda region name, lol.  Maybe the ship is emitting some supernatural force-field of spirits long past

I have been crashing hard with sailboats & Jetskiis on this adjacent sim since the day they relocated the galaxy to this new location. Basically, I cannot sail thru the open waters between the galaxy and that lighthouse ...

Curious, perhaps a glitch to look into?  I flew my plane (01/16 PM)  from Alewife around the Island of new Victorians under construction, and then followed water south towards the front of the SS Galaxy.  I made it to the Galaxy's region edge (over water and adjacent houseboats) before I experienced a hard crash - locked up, had to close my default SL browser & Log back in.   Thankfully the plane is copy/mod as it wasn't returned and wasn't flying over someone's property when it happened.  I TP'd back but noticed no plane hanging in the sky.

It’s unfortunate that the neighbors can ruin an area. Everyone building mega add-ons and covering their plots with terrain prims are destroying Bellisseria aesthetically.

Neighborhoods evolve, just like RL, just quicker in SL.  A larger add-on can be nice, but large and forever empty = sad.  A terrain prim over a whole lot does tend to stick out.

OMG Permaglow is haunting me........ I'm  still getting that same home every now and then ...... seems to be the home that no one likes :)

I wouldn't mind that Permaglow spot and could be fun with decor based on the region theme.  A close neighbor's large (bright?) deck maybe affecting decisions to keep it.

Hammond Park is a beautiful jewel,  some next generation owners may not treat it so.  One lot has a tall monster truck in the front yard.  Tons of green dots every day (in the sky?) over 1 lot, empty mega add-on's sprouting up around the lake.

With the bots,  lag, and growing number of wondering street griefers,  my  lot was returned.  Wasn't the "best in the region", but I loved it.   Made my heart sad to see how quickly it was picked up and tossed back over and over.   I'd still cherish marianne Little's lot in Hammond Park if ever available but she does have a lovely home & hope she stays.

My Traditional is now on a corner in OldRidge, facing the bridges.  The movers have left but the landscapers still have flowers to plant within the property.

    Because "channel conflict".  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_conflict

LL is not "required" to restore any Blake Sea waterway that they may have impacted.  But LL makes money from the regions that private estates lease, which is one land sales model/channel.  They also make money from mainland leased directly by residents, another channel.  And of course they make money from LHs, a third land sales channel.  When LL sets up LH regions that provide the same sort of estate experience that a private estate was created to provide, they are competing with themselves.  When LL moves unique attractions such as the Galaxy or unimpeded waterways from the Blake Sea to enhance their own competing estates, they are projecting disdain for the income that estate owners (as well as mainland renters) who enjoyed those attractions provide to LL.

As for 'regions cost money to run', I've never observed that LL cares much about the overhead of new regions.  Think about it; once you have the grid set up, your contracts with Amazon and other providers in place, an extra 25 regions would be no big deal, from an expense point of view.  They haven't flinched at SSP, have they?

So.  Is VictoriBelle beautiful?  Yes, but it's a slap in the face of Victorian estate managers.  Which LL has not acknowledged in any way; they appear to have the same disdain for estate managers that some here have.

If LL provides a tropical/beachy theme for Linden Homes, they will be competing directly with Fruitlands/Eden.  Will they chat it over with Elbag?  I haz my doubts.

The term 'land baron' is laughable now.  Times have changed, and the profit model that Ansche Chung made her fortune with no longer exists.  Private estates are smaller and they scrape by; if they require too much maintenance, they simply fold, because their owners are generally also working for a living and cannot afford to devote a lot of time to their SL business.  So perhaps LL has decided they don't need private estates now, they will simply copy the estate's value proposition, and very likely execute the builds better.  Perhaps a large tropical island could have Mt. Gal erupting regularly, with lava flows that can actually destroy a few resident homes, which would be a lot of fun.

Embracing Channel Conflict is declaring to anyone watching that you are not interested in being a good partner to your customers.  It is an unhealthy business model.  It leads to groups of customers getting fed up and storming off.  But LL may not care.  I love Belli, but I am saddened by LL (once again) turning its back on estate managers and other customers who have stuck with them through thick and thin.

Thank you Nika, I always appreciate your perspective.  Although off topic, I remember the National news coverage of Ansche Chung & Second LIfe.  I'm curious how the profit model has changed for Private Estates over time.

The SS Galaxy:  Bellisseria vs Blake Sea.  I believe the SS Galaxy had moved a few times while in private ownership before it became a Linden historical property; was there an issue when it was moved each time in the past?  I'd be curious to hear the original ship creator's thoughts about this recent move.

Perhaps there might be something new in it's future?  Let it transition into more of a community event center?

Why not have your cake and eat it too?  Using today's technology, building options & Construction,  LL could match up the original ship builder with current skilled content providers (boat moles?)  to design &  Build a modern SS Galaxy II for Bellisseria (or a new retrofitted SS Galaxy) as a community center with retail shops, education and events, and return the Historical Preservation SS Galaxy back to the Blake Sea untouched.  RL has the Queen Mary and QM-II, SL could do that as well.

I get the impression LL is making an effort not to directly compete with private estates while providing an update to their own offerings to premium members .  Promoted as starter homes with very limited rights and privileges.  They respond consistently to requests for "I want more...xyz"  with messages such as "perhaps you have outgrown the Linden Homes product" or  "this product may not be right for you" or 'perhaps it's time to look for another offering such as Mainland or Private Estates'.

Making New Linden Homes for premium membership no doubt will generate additional income for the company,  but will this impact Private Estates in the long term?  I'd suggest it's more of a gateway drug  introduction for less experienced users regarding covenants and more structured communities while at the same time a great opportunity for some who may not have the means to afford Private Estate pricing or not familiar with Private Estates yet.   This was a concern when the original Linden homes came out, and Private Estates rose to the challenge and offered an even better experience.  I've no doubt those Estates can continue to do so.
