I realized the person I was with and some of my friends were all the same person. This was 1 month into SL.

Someone I knew for about ten years, turned out to be 5 avatars that I knew and I didn't find out until he died and they all went poof.  It gave me pause, but didn't really change SL for me that much.

i think this is the main reason for its dominance in the body space, Dominance founded on trust between Maitreya and their customers. Trust which leads to brand loyalty. Brand loyalty is a valuable thing. When a brand moves to make changes then loyalty leads customers to move with the brand

I agree.  I was already a Maitreya customer back when they only made shoes.  I followed them as they branched out to hair and jumped on board when they released the first Lara body.  Despite my initial grumbling about LaraX, I'm sure I'll be sticking with them.

I believe that was in one of the recent notices in the lara friends group I read last night. They may have a link or name in there for it.

I found it by asking in the Maitreya Lara friends group chat for the link.

  4. Peeved at how hard it was to find something to wear with my LaraX body so I could go shopping.  Finally managed to find some Legacy body versions of clothes that I never bothered to toss in one of my many "to be filed" folders. They don't fit perfectly but could alpha out the biggest glitches.  Now it's time to hit the stores and look for updated versions of things I've bought before.  I am not thrilled with having to go out and replace clothing just to have better shoulders but, "oh well".

I think this is an extremely unfair characterization. If you put on LaraX using a shape made for Lara 3.x, it's going to look different of course. If you take some time to see how the sliders react with this body, I think you'll be surprised at just how trim your avatar's appearance can be with LaraX.

Of course, I don't care which body you choose to use. I just think you might benefit from seeing what the body is actually capable of before coming to a conclusion.

You're right.  After looking at the pictures in that other thread, I think maybe my initial reaction was premature.  The improved shoulders alone might make it worthwhile to tweak the shape and see how it goes.

Fiddle a bit with the buttsize, saddle bags and hip lenght and you get a less pronounced butt

Too much trouble for me, I like the shape I have with the 5.3.image.thumb.png.eba7b44dd96e064d55303bf66b555331.png

  7. I just haven't been paying attention I guess.  The last update I have for Lara is the 5.0.  So I guess I missed 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 completely.  And now, of course when I go to redelivery I get the Lara X which I personally don't like very much.  Seems like the fat ass/big boob trend has hit Lara big time. I don't care for that style of body.  I guess it really doesn't matter as I just don't shop much anymore.  When I feel like wearing something new(which doesn't happen all that much) I just explore my inventory which has tons of things I've never worn before in it.

But I am curious, did Lara change much between 5.0 and 5.3?

I don't black Friday shop in RL or SL but I do grab the free head and the items from the stores they had listed as well.  That was it for me.

Is there a free head this year?  I made my annual pilgrimage to the Your Avatar forum just to see.  I don't shop a lot these days, but I do have some alts who could use a better head. After trying out last years head for a few months, I recently went back to my old Lelutka Simone that was my first mesh head and  looks more like "me" than anything released since.

Some people are more interested in maintaining a connection to their ancestors than others are. It only takes one generation for family history to disappear, so I imagine you could make a case that the answer to "So what?" is "So, maybe my grandchildren will want to know." Personally, I don't find myself bragging about what long-dead family members may have done (especially if they just managed to be in the right place at the right time). Still, it's interesting history. I don't want to be the last person in the family who knows. It's kind of like not being the one to mess up a chain letter, I guess.

I don't think I'm the only amurrican who is mostly ashamed of my ancestors who sailed across the sea and usurped the land from the folk who were already living here(And yeah, my ancestry traces back to 16th century white anglo-saxon protestants who did that). Not something I want to brag about, but, I get what you mean about not wanting to break the chain letter either.

Cant find the join group in the store.  Should be right there up front.

Finding the group join sign in shops has always been problematic.  Especially during crowded events.  The last time I had to join a bunch of groups I found that it was easier to click on the profiles around me and look for the group there.  Most people don't bother to hide shopping groups in their profiles and if they're at the store, chances are they've joined the group.

Peeve: having to keep secrets involving mutual friends :/ So now I obviously won't spread what Person A told me, but what it means, really, is I have to lie to Person B and pretend I haven't heard anything and don't know what's going on (and then worry that my eyes or body language might give me away :S)...and of course if it all comes out, Person B will be angry and ask why I didn't tell them...-_-

That's one of the positive features of in world communications; When you look into my avatar's eyes, she doesn't give away any secrets I may be keeping.

  12. If you want privacy at a sandbox, just rez a skybox on the ground, sit in it and then raise it up to a height that's out of sight. That's what I do when I'm between paying for premium which allows you a place to call your own in Belliserria.  Then you can tweak your appearance to your hearts content.

How did you manage to share a hotel room, but not a bed? Was is it like one of those romantic comedies, where you could not afford separate rooms, and the only rooms available had single beds?

I don't recall mentioning the sleeping arrangements. This might surprise you, but you can get a hotel room with more than one bed. Splitting costs with friends is a great way to make traveling affordable.

Yes, I sometimes do a reply also.  However, it does seem like over the past month or two, we've ended up with long conversations generated from a single peeve post.  It makes it harder to keep up with the thread, for some of us anyway.

I struggle to keep up with the thread too, but the reason why I want to try to keep up with the thread is because I find the conversation/chatter/banter entertaining.  If it was all peeves and only peeves without the chat, I probably wouldn't bother to read it.

  15. I've met several people from SL in RL and not had any bad experiences.  I've even shared hotel rooms with a couple of them.

The only problem I had was with one friend who was deaf.  I knew he was deaf in SL and that was not an issue in world because I don't use voice much anyway.  But I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to communicate in RL with no keyboards and I don't speak sign language.  We worked it out by getting a legal pad and pen and he'd write down his replies and read my lips.
