  1. No, it wasn't negative. It was Frank. Darrius, meet Frank. Praise will show in the numbers. Surely they have some numbers to watch. They are not children. They are in charge of large numbers and future numbers.

When I clicked that, got the warning - adjusted - and nothing - no product - sent to a main page. This will be a dilemma for those who do major promotions, and rely on that product link going directly to product.
  3. No email, and always get an email. Not sure that it matters, though...that email should have been sent much earlier, so that people could adjust their finances and prepare. Couple days doesn't get it. Others are impressed with communication. I'm not, and not going to suck up in that manner. Have joked around about the LL Bombs always being dropped on Thursdays. Some times it's not all that funny. It's the last weekend of the month. SL Tier fees are due on the first, and for some RL tier fees due on the first, as well. Some rely on that last weekend rather heavily. Not affected personally on that with this round, but understand that with many other rounds in the past. Looking at some of the keywords tossed out. Major marketing tools. Since people are scrambling to get in gear on short notice...doubt that the concerns about the loss on that level is kicking in just yet.

Checking up on that will be an interesting experiment. Back later. probably not a bad tactic to toss a rather large preserver (8 paragraphs?) to the captain first, though! (particularly if captain has email notify set). sly...unfortunately a bit too obvious. amazing how people's senses and reflexes are on heightened alert during a disaster
  5. Curious....does this affect any of your listings?

I replied to it and it no longer shows in my Recent Activity. Go figure. As I said in that thread shortly before it got removed, It might be an idea for someone to start such a list on their own external blog if they have the time and inclination. Such a list is always going to get removed from here due to the content which is by very nature going to breech the PG / General content requirement of these forums. Having said that, it would be handy if LL could somehow find a way to publish the list in a location that can only be accessed by age verified accounts or something. I guess its a bit of a Catch 22 for them - they probably don't want to publish it to give the cheaters a way to figure out how to still get their clearly adult content as PG by cleverly avoiding the keywords, but then again unless we know the keywords its hard for the sensible majority to use keywords correctly. Suella....you've been to the general discussion area. That list does not even come close to what rolls through the content there. Not even close.

Discussions that themselves push the limit of General will most likely get put here, assuming more adult conversation is allowed in the Merchants Roundtable. Something like the keywords list would most likely get deleted because it is in itself, not General by mentioning adult words and thus violates the rating to the forums themselves. I'd expect post content to at some point also come under the Maturity Ratings. If that were the case, then there would be ZERO threads running in the General Discussion area
  8. This is unacceptable. Going down to the store to have a couple shots of censored fake whiskey before I come back.
  9. Looks like all Censorship topics were moved in one sweep. There is going to be a ton of merchants who need help over the weekend with this - who do not have access to this forum. Not sure if they will be able to get access by the weekend. Can't find the keyword list that people were working on at all. Would like to know where that went - was helping some people out there. Not particularly pleased with this method and message. eta: Mook Maruti started the keyword list to help, and it's completely gone - checked his profile, and not listed anymore. Checked your profile too, Tatianna, and not listed on yours either.
  10. oh, you can most definitely remove a good portion of your search phrases from your item descriptions so that you can get yourself to that sweet goal for the boost metric. In fact....please keep promoting that....it will open up some opportunities for some of us....if everyone removes all those phrases, and tidies up their descriptions to practically nothing. But FYI .....you can still hit 20 or 30 or more good phrases or keywords on page one or two.....with a -2 score. These would be keywords a shopper types in.....not necessarily a main keyword that 30 other business owners type in, and set as their goal. Do the math.
  11. I would have to go inworld to pull an actual example....but it's similar to this. using an Antique Chest as an example. To make sense - - I would title it ETC. Antique Chest Mahogany Chest w/ Antique Bronze Accents Large Chest second line: EtCetera Low Prim Furniture ETC. (name of store - you would be an idiot not to use it in full) - Low Prim Antiques Low Prim Antique Furniture Antique Chests Mahogany Chests Low Prim Chests Antique Bronze Accessories First line - for a shopper - you want to catch someone looking for an antique chest or a mahogany chest - and you want to clarify that it is the Large Chest - because you have it in three sizes. You also want to hit someone looking for antique bronze items. Repeating words like that is no longer cool. second line - the general phrase is in your store name - and that should remain consistent on every single product - both for you and for the shopper in locating your store again. But now it could possibly interfere with other phrasing, and be penalized. you want to state the general category that the chest falls in - low prim antiques - - you miss that category, and you blew it. But that will count against you, if part of that phrase is in your store title on same line. you want to use two different versions of a phrase that are popular - low prim antiques - and low prim antique furniture - - - that makes sense - - people type in different phrases. This is for your shopper - and you want to catch as many as you can. Not cool now. you want to catch Antique Chests or Mahogany Chests - - makes sense for the shopper. Not cool now. you also have 20 different styles of antique mahogany chests - - all very unique - - and you titled them accordingly - in detail. You will now be penalized for having the largest selection. Now - doing the above, will make you take a nose dive in search.....if you do this on all your products. Granted, they can now type in Low Prim Accessories.....a phrase you don't even have above.....and it will score.....but that also means that someone can type in Mahogany Chests and come back with this...... Deep tan mahogany skin tone - another He-Man Big Buff Stud Chests product. ......so you're not exactly scoring....not exactly helping shoppers......you're piled in a heap of......stuff.
  12. Dartagan Shepherd wrote: Have to agree, if the mission is ultimately accomplished the best long term strategy is to title and describe everything as if you were actually doing it for a human and not a search engine. That strategy worked fine for two years. It doesn't work this week. If you do that.....you'll fall off the board.
  13. Amiryu Hosoi wrote: So, for optimal search results we should devide our islands into little parcels with specific names? Ami Ami - I asked the are they finished tweaking search question for a reason - - and that's because the things you are asking could change next week. I would be really careful about spending too much time on it. I spent two full weeks tweaking to the max, right before they started adjusting, and had the results I wanted - - - and almost everything I did, is now almost the opposite of what works. It wouldn't be a bad idea to make a test parcel - - just to watch - - but as far as tweaking an entire sim - - might get very frustrating time wise. Some examples of what you're asking - - on the carpet and carpets - - doesn't look like you need to distinguish the plural form any more. In the past, if you used Ami's Rug store Oriental rugs Japanese rugs Asian rugs Gold and Red Rug - - an effective way to label - - but now, you're going to take a hit for that. I lost one whole parcel out of the mix for that type of labeling. Where someone using rugs, rugs, rugs, rugs, rugs, rugs in prims is not penalized, and will take top positions. It appears that phrases are no longer as effective - - if you title it Oriental Carpet Japanese Floor Mats Gold Rugs - - it appears now that someone typing in Oriental Rugs - - will probably get a hit on yours - - the words don't have to be in sequence - - which can be very helpful - - but because of that - - it also opens up all kinds of possibilities that cloud a phrase search to the point of being ineffective. And I keep saying "it appears"....not trusting that it will "appear" to be the same next week.
  14. Mobile Intel 945 GM Express Chipset Family A friend helped me find that, and he's telling me this isn't good.
  15. I'll try to get the sequence organized. And toss it out. I've still got some more things to do, and I think that the true test will be when I log in tonight - night time is when it's bad - - but for right now, after doing these things: cleaning out calling cards and LMs and adding a cooling pad (helped) adjusting the bandwidth slider and clearing cache (even after it had been cleared a few days ago) - helped a lot. I'm at maximum performance now - 4.5 fps! laugh your asses off. But makes a huge difference when you were dealing with half that. I can walk and type! Thanks for all the input, and I marked this as answered, concerning the Inventory question. Doris, I looked back up at your computer specs, and they are way better than mine - - but I'm functioning - - so please do not give up. Let's find an answer.
  16. Thanks for your explanations, Yichard. Yes, from running two different avs and tweaking a few things....doesn't look like inventory count is making much of a difference. And sorry I ran out of gold stars - I need a dozen more.
  17. Faubio - I followed your instructions on the bandwidth thing, and when tping to a new sim, it was generally around 330 at highest, so adjusted bandwidth slider to 300. While I was in that box, I cleared cache again.....logged back in, and pretty good performance right now. The bandwidth was generally about 13 or 14, and now at 20 to 24. (this is while standing still - when moving, up to 140) and I have no idea what any of that means - lol. fps is up to 4.5, which is much better than it usually is. and loaded pretty fast (for me) - the rest of you would have a fit. On the clearing cache, usually do that once a week, and had done it several days ago....but I use 5 avs and run them all about. Do they all contribute to one cache? It was mentioned that tp-ing around a lot adds to your cache....so if you do it with several avs.....you need to clear it out like every other day?
  18. May I make a suggestion? Would you volunteer to be another guinea pig, Doris? I think that the original topic - on Inventory and performance has been answered - that perhaps the performance issues are not related much to Inventory. There's some valuable information being tossed about here....that maybe some people trying to tweak performance need to read, and they would most likely be in the Technology section. I could organize it from the beginning, and title it the Ultimate Performance Tweaking Process for the Technologically Clueless on POS Computers, and drop it in the Technology section. I spent some time in the Wiki last night, and finally have a grip on some of the terms being tossed about. And thinking that if I can be a guinea pig with a substandard laptop (which I thought was average)....and make a few things work better....and if Doris joins in with a legitimate computer....it might give an example of a step-by-step process from start to finish. ETA: looks like it needs to go in Technical, Technology section is for the Lindens....but the Technical section looks strictly QandA, and this would be a running tweak session....so might drop it into the General Discussion area. Dang, I miss the old forums.
  19. Thanks for the info, Faubio....working my way through all this info, so bear with me. I checked my own computer specs, based on your instructions, and I'm operating on a 502mb laptop....and minimum requirements are 512.....that's probably the whole problem there. Not sure if it is worth going through a tweaking process, but hope that some others are using these links to help performance. I discarded 200 calling cards and 100 LMs last night....and I had been alternating between me, and my 20k inventory, and my alt with a 2k inventory, and I do believe that the 2k inventory alt gets around a wee bit better - but I don't think it's really significant. I'm not sure if fps is what you ultimately use to guage performance....but last night around 7:30 pm SL time....I was at .7 in a location that was at 2.5 around 3pm ...and in the past have noticed that it operates better at certain times of the day than others. Not sure if that is my own connection, or if it has to do with number of people inworld. After removing all the calling cards and Lms....and then adding a cooling pad....was at 1.0 for the next few hours....and this morning, am approaching 3.5 at times. And walking around and typing is much easier this morning, but it generally is easier in the mornings anway. Again - not sure if any of this makes a difference, and not sure if the inventory clean-up was a factor. Just tossing it out there. I'll try some other things, today.
  20. Well, the only thing I've made up my mind about is that I need to tweak something, or pop 1200 bucks before I go nuts. But I will still crusade for the average computer user that wants to enjoy SL! I don't mind recording all that statistical stuff for a few days, to see what works. I'll record for a few days as is - then do the tweaking, as suggested above. I've got 20k in my inventory and I'll use an alt that has 2k - but sounds like it's not an inventory problem - might make a difference if I trash all calling cards and landmarks. What's important on that Statistical report? Today I recorded FPS - Bandwidth - sim fps - what else on that chart is important? What is the bandwidth reading? In one spot that was jumping from 9 to 330.
  21. Thanks for the Alt-9 tip, Julya - was not aware of that. I don't need to see anyone's hair...just want to hear the music at a live event. The fps is generally lower than 2. Typing at a party or club or live event is just as you said....almost impossible. Obviously it doesn't have much to do with Inventory....but got sidetracked to another point. I'm not the only one with an average computer trying to use SL. As you said, the high power computer is not an option at the moment. Also, didn't want to invest again, before figuring it all out. Two other perfectly fine laptops got fried using SL, and don't want to fry a brand new one, either....or get only a one year life expectancy from it. It's not just me. The times when I was on a good laptop....If I tp a newbie to a live event....they crash within minutes. The event is an hour long. Ten minutes into it, they arrive and crash. Takes them a few minutes to get back. Maybe they last for another ten....then crash again. By the time they get back a second time, the event is half over....and they will probably crash a third time....then give up....then they may never go to a live event again. That sucks! On this computer - I understand their dilemma, now. There was someone in a forum the other day asking if they could use SL on a $500 or $600 computer. I just don't see that happening. In that case....the complete experience has been reduced for a huge portion of the population. Maybe that can't be adjusted or tweaked....maybe not possible....but that's a bummer.
  22. Well, geez - the computer geniuses were supposed to have "optimized" it - had it at two different shops - is it just the inability of the computer itself? We have to bust out 1200 bucks for the ASUS to get around in SL?
  23. Thank you for the info, Faubio. Pretty sure my connection is fine. It's wireless. But I can plug in the ether cable, and see if that helps. All other programs work fine. Not as wonderful as the two good laptops that SL fried....but average. I'm only trying to get to an average SL usage experience - not expecting miracles....but do believe it is far below average, at the moment. I used that test, and the speed is average. download = 1.32 mb/s upload = .26 mb/s ping = 177ms on the packet loss test - packet loss = 0 I tried to find an explanation of the above, but can't seem to find one. Again - you sort of need a computer whiz in your pocket to figure it out. Is there a computer whiz standing at the Welcome Centers, to get people with average set-ups, lined up and on board....before they log off and uninstall the program for good?
  24. Kokoro.Fasching wrote: I have a very large inventory, and have very little problems. But to make sure, I used my combat alt that has almost no inventory. Me: Inventory count 78k Combat Alt: Inventory count 1k Sim Crossings, both sims healthy. Same time to cross border, which is less than a second. Teleports - under 10 seconds. Now, some issues come into play with both those when I am wearing an item with Mono scripts, a large number of scripts, or scripted Sculpty items. In those cases, both sim crossings and teleprots are heavily affected. Busy sim, or teleporting to a busy sim. Make sure your Landmark folder and Calling Card folders are trim - best thing is to move them to over folders. The standard SL client will constantly check those folders when teleporting, opening maps, or crossing borders to see if they need to update your map based on if a item finds a match in the new sim/map display. I have my graphics set to Ultra, and draw distance normally set to 128 meters, and still get very high frame rates (usualy over 25 FPS even with 40 av's near by). When I am shopping, I tend to set my draw distance to 320 meters so I can just cam around the shopping area. Kokoro - on the LMs and Calling Cards - that's another thing I forgot to ask about - had heard that those would slow you down. Will empty those, to see if it helps. Thank you.
