I think one place is mentioned on here that does (might be you that mentioned it lol), but I find using a skin with cleavage is a pushed up enough look so wouldn't ever use it now

Its a substitute, but IMO the pushup option looks superior. There are hardly any vendors making options for it.

  2. I didn't get the update yet, but is there a possibility that the hands are not considered a target zone? I really love the idea of being able to use only a portion of the tattoo. I am really looking forward to playing with this tomorrow.

Now if we can only get more vendors to do more clothing for pushup. :D

If it is this one... then it the same point and solution as the very heated "Why are Kid avatars [allowed|not allowed]" threads.

Which makes me think the most discrimination - more than Kids, more than Furrys - likely gets piled on the babyfurs.

Maybe its just me, but I don't consider a sign that says "human avatars only" as discrimination. I guess technically it could be, but at the same time I can understand the position of a club/venue owner. We could debate whether that policy is, or isn't appropriate, but I'd like to think that the decision is in most cases based upon creating an atmosphere around a specific theme, and not necessarily out of hatred towards one group.

Our needs of inclusion as a society, at least here in the US, has reached reached a level of ridiculousness I never thought possible.

Furry hate is pretty legendary in SL and I've always assumed that furries were probably the most hated and discriminated against group in SL. But recently I have wondered if that is true. Thoughts on who it might be and why?

One thing I will never understand is the hate based on avatar type in SL. Every avatar is a personal expression of the person behind the screen. But at the same time, it's only an avatar and we are all people behind the screen.

What do you consider discrimination? Is it for example, a sign at a club that says "no furries". Does that offend you?

What experiences have you had that have made you feel discriminated? Will some people judge you? I am certain of that, but it doesn't matter what people think of you, it just matters what the right people think of you. Lead the life you want to live and let the haters do what they do. Immaturity, insecurity, and stupidity have no boundaries. Karma is a b@#! and someday it just might come back to haunt them. I am a firm believer of that.

Its easy to be the one cracking the whip, but surely not easy to be on the receiving end of it. That is what is often forgotten. Hope your experiences are better this time around. :x

  5. This was good news that I was not aware of.

"Currently, the Lab’s Infringement Notification Policy requires that DCMA notices are filed with Linden Lab via mail or fax.In December 2017, it was indicated that this would be revised so that DMCA’s can be filed via an on-line form. The provisional date for implementing this change had been around January / February 2018, however, it has been subject to delay."

I understand there might be some kind of technical limitation (or complication) with allowing more then one user to have the same last name, but I am not a fan of that AT ALL. Outside of any limitations, I'd rather see people have the name THEY want to choose and not miss out because someone beat them to the punch.

  6. Some thieves go to greater lengths to mask their theft, but many do very little and it is in those cases very obvious. Here are some of my suggestions for spotting the latter.

    1. Generally, (not always) it is quite common to find these products sold at discounted rates. If the price looks too good to be true ... you know how the rest goes.
    2. Look at their product photos, are there similarities in the style and theme? A lot of these copybot vendors use the original artwork with little to no modification.
    3. Always look at seller feedback. Does the vendor have 1-star ratings? What do the comments say?
    4. Is there a lot of variation in the quality of the items this vendor sells, do they sell a lot of random things (non gacha)?
    5. Demos! If they're selling skins, there are generally no demos.
    6. The more you shop and become familiar with brands, it becomes easier to spot some of these fakes with little effort.

  7. I used to have a great time going to shopping centers as a form of exploration. Sometimes you'd find that hidden gem, a new brand, or maybe meet a new friend. Sure there were plenty of days you'd come up empty, but it was an experience. Going to events today is anything but a social activity for me. It's get in, get out, cya next month (rinse and repeat). Over the last few years, I have moved away from gacha for the most part, and lately I have little desire to get out to most events.

African - because not all people of African ancestry are Americans. Quite a few live in Africa, curiously enough.

Yes, I am quite aware of that.

I hear from some comments that it is a LOT of work to make all the multiple body stuff, and then I go to a store of another brand and see them putting out for a half dozen or more... and I wonder how they pull that off.

There are a lot of factors that go into it. Do they outsource their rigging, do they have multiple people on their team, or is it possibly a collaboration. Event schedules, time available, and the list goes on and on.

  10. I didn't pickup any form of racism in the watermelon comment. I assumed she meant overtly large breasts.

Some people make an avatar that is well proportioned, while others choose to do something less lifelike, more extreme or even something in between. While we can choose to like or dislike one form over another, we should be celebrating the diversity we now have across the grid. With the advent of mesh bodies and rigged clothing, we can now make the shape we want and wear the clothing we want without compromise.

We should also celebrate the fact that we can have debates like this because we have choices.

  11. Drew, send a message to the creator. In the past I've reached out to him with questions and he was always both responsive and helpful. It is also a good idea to keep a backup copy of your AO. Every time I insert new animations into mine, I create a backup. It just means less hassle should anything go awry.

I also love the fact that his HUD doesn't use notecards. Most 3rd party animations I have used were immediately recognized by my HUD, but for those that weren't, the process was very straightforward and after a few clicks I was back in business.

  12. So please do tell; what are we so willfully ignorant about?

If you say something is bad without first outlining it in enough detail, why be believed?

This is true, having detail is a great basis for adding texture to a statement. Although I think it is also equally plausible to say that some things go without saying (without further need of explanation). Although not a good idea for the reasons you pointed out; you still believed it would provide "solid data" which is debatable, but the reason you made the suggestion. If we did this, we could get the data we needed for a more accurate assessment, but its bad because of xyz. I am saying its bad on bad, so why bother to begin with. It goes without saying.

You're right, creators only need to know what does the market penetration look like for the products available on the market. They can then decide if they want to create for the masses or focus on a niche. I think it would be reasonable to assume that given a larger pool that Maitreya would still be the leader. However, I think it would be beneficial to see how some of these other bodies do in comparison given that some of them are within close margin of each other.

It’s not that Belleza is for people that want a curvy avi. It does curvy better than Maitreya though. It also does slim equally well too though.

Agreed! I have some clothing that was made for Freya and not Isis, so I adjusted my Freya shape and it is quite comparable to the shape I had with my Isis body. So Belleza does slim and it is quite possible to go slim even with Freya. ❤

LL wont make rule changes as it creates a barrier to entry for a possible merchant and would cost LL money.

Being judge, jury and executioner would cost them more money. That point hasn't been disputed and has in fact been agreed upon.

Having payment info on file would not stop the issue; the questionable content would still need to be authenticated. As proof positive of this, there have been brands that were have found to have used external third party content without consent. All of them had payment info on file.

While LL may be doing what is required by law

That's right; they are doing what is expected of them by law. There is a process in place for content owners to dispute theft just as much as there is a process for LL to follow should a claim be filed. As the host, they take action. For those not taking action, don't blame LL.

What they could do that would be more practical is to offer more resources on the subject so that more vendors are informed as to the process and understand what their rights are. Why not do a video, or have a sticky here in the merchants section.

An alternative approach would be to get the top 3 fashion sellers to go 3 months selling products ONLY by the single body...

So you'd walk into shop A and have to choose at purchase which body to buy it for...

    - This would cause outrage among the people who use multiple different mesh bodies... but it would get you SOLID data for usage among the 'active shopper' community... and lets face it, that is the only community merchants should care about anyway... people who buy a body once and then run around naked with it for the rest of their SL... don't matter for the merchant community.

    That's a terrible idea ...

The Script idea as I pointed out has flaws. The data would only reflect the body in which I was wearing at the time the scan occurred; which may not be the body I use full time. This of course is the purpose behind the survey. People do have multiple bodies, and regardless of their preference; they are sometimes compelled to wear Maitreya due to product availability. Some even wear Maitreya to events since it loads quicker. There are a number of situations in which that data collected could be wrong.

Every poll has anomalies to some extent, and we don't need to reinvent the wheel; we just need more respondents. When the notice of the next survey comes out, we should be encouraging people to fill out the survey so we can continue to grow the sample size.
