This thread has got nothing to do with religion, at least not as far as I'm concerned, it also has nothing to do with the specifics of any celebration day anywhere in the world. The sole reason I began this topic was with reference to freebies, group gifts, hunt items and event items primarily being wasted on a theme (Halloween) that is very ugly to me.

I don't want bats wings on shoes, blood on a blouse, or even an american flag on a dress or a skirt when that time of year comes to pass.

The build-up and fallout from Halloween will seemingly take several weeks before it ends yet and until it's over I am missing out on otherwise potentially nice items which I enjoy collecting and sifting through, as most have been replaced with ugly stuff.

Oh god, what will you ever do ... So your post is in reference to "group gifts, hunt items, and freebies." If you care to crack open your wallet and spend some L, there are still a lot of stores and events selling non-Halloween themed merchandise.

  2. A bit salty OP?

Now I would accept these as individual personality trait, but not when 90% of SL acts this way. It's so fake and disgusting, people pretending to be something they are not only to be tagged as cool, popular, or because they feel the need to fit in.

Well, personally, I think he has just been away from the Forums for many hours.  His last post in any thread was 10 hours ago (last name thread); his latest post in this thread was 12 hours ago, but the first quote of that post was 4 hours after it was made, so 2 hours after his last post anywhere today.

Thanks for killing my hopes and dreams :) lol

  4. I can tell you from my own experience, that some creators do treat the term "exclusive" just as the OP suggests. So whether the intent to mislead the consumer is intentional or not, the usage of that term can be somewhat misleading.

if you're a regular event goer, you quickly learn that most items at major events are only made available first at that event. The same cannot be said about the use of the term "exclusive" to advertise the said product. There is just too much room for misinterpretation and IMO it is totally unnecessary to use it unless it does mean unavailable after the event.

  5. Even when TMP was at its peak, product support was lackluster at best. The body came out sometime in 2013 and remains in BETA to this day. I'd also suggest saving your money, and investing into another body which is more widely supported and has a proven track record.

  6. Having access to purchase history is nice, but you can't search by keyword. The only option is to search by date of purchase. If you've been around for years, it could be like trying to find a needle in a haystack for purchase information. A search function within purchase history could be extremely valuable. I'd also like to see the listing get flagged if you had previously purchased the item and a link to see supplemental details.

  7. I actually see a lot of positivity on these forums, and outside of the obvious trolls which are good for a laugh every now and then; most arguments I see are started as a result of a misunderstanding.

If only more people took the time to say "I'm sorry", this forum and the rest of the world would for that matter be a better place.

  8. I have definitely seen some of the toxicity, but there's also been some really interesting threads which kept me reading page after page. I really enjoyed seeing how a topic being discussed on both forums could garner very different perspectives. It was also at one time a great resource for creators to gain some insight into the DMCA process.

I think that the it was a good example of how less moderation can be both a blessing and a curse.

A year past the op, and I can announce with pride that it's the mesh-heads I still laugh at. They, to me, are just fish-lipped samey-clones. I've always found them coarse and ugly, made as they are by "creators" with no grasp of what constitutes human beauty. IMHO, a system head and traditional skin (very important) are the only ways to retain individuality in SL.

I am not sure how long you've been in SL, but the pouty lips trend started long before mesh heads hit the scene; so the look is indicative of the users preference. Back in the day people were sporting that look using legacy heads. True story!

Oh, I didn't know about that. Interesting. Are there any details you can give without breaking the "no names given" rule on this forum?

If you go to their blog, you can see the entry for yourself. As of today, it was still up.

You may have heard rumors and allegations about {redacted} recently and I would like to address these. This post will discuss what happened, why it happened, how we are going to rectify this, and finally how we plan to move on.

I am now a management consultant specializing in operations and logistics, and occasionally procurement. My work and study background combined with spending time as part of the {redacted} team qualifies me to take over the running of {redacted} in the interim. I am doing this because there has to be a review of processes, there has to be higher level of accountability, and {redacted} has to concentrate her efforts on content creation.

I thought it was clear that she understood that the source material was not to be used in SL, but did so under her own free will for the reasons cited in her apology letter. This just sounds so bad any way you slice it.

  11.  Her brand isn't the first to be outed, nor will it be the last. It was IMO a huge slap in the face to other creators who produce content with integrity.

I'd like to know what people thought of the subsequent letter posted from her spouse.

Definitely, there has to be a limit or people would use MP at super-high prices to show their stuff off and then one would have to come into the store to buy it for a price that wasn't outrageous; but 5% is fair for that.

That wouldn't work very well even if it was permissible. A lot of users will filter by price and if the list price is artificially inflated; then there is a good chance the listing might get overlooked entirely. It just wouldn't make any sense to do it that way.

    2) I think if I were a merchant I'd value in-store business more than MP business even if there were no MP commission, just given that someone in world is more likely to find something else to buy at my store.  That's a discount incentive.

Your MP store should have your entire collection. If it does, then why would you prefer I go to your mainstore? I can more quickly and efficiently scan the items you sell on the MP and I can just as easily make additional purchases from there as well.

I am not saying there isn't value in having an in world location, but it isn't a necessity for many business types. Having a presence on the MP is however almost mandatory IMO.

Did you ever use it? There is a difference between payment info on file and payment info used.

This exactly. If you haven't used payment then technically it will not be recognized. I read specifics on it in one of the technical docs on the SL Wiki.

So, were you an... Apt Pupil?

I have two family members who refuse to talk to me because i didn't vote for trump.

That would be because he had style, class and knew how to talk to people with respect. Trump came out swinging at the press in his first month. He has ZERO class and treats other world leaders like they are children and he is the nanny. He is in for a very rude awakening.

Obama did have charisma, and he was a great public speaker; I will give him that, but speeches alone don't get the job done. You'd think I was a die-hard republican, but I'm not. I am all for the person that is best able to get the ball rolling and its refreshing to have a President call it like it is. Whether you like him or not, he is trying to put our interests first. What was Obama's legacy? Oh that's right, style and class...and where did that get us?

I am sure he had worked hard, and did many of the things he thought he should do but what did he stand for? Universal healthcare? That's what his twitter page was loaded with ... As his system was failing, all he could do was try to rally around how great it was. We would have been better off leaving it as it was.

I don't remember hearing any complaints about the press when they were fawning over Obama for 8 years.

That's because the press was in love with Obama. Now I am not saying there weren't any naysayers, because there were; but by and large he was treated with kit gloves. Go back and watch some of his briefings, it isn't even remotely close.

  16. They won't stop. Look beyond the known brands that are infringed upon. Content theft is everywhere in SL. How many creators have used stolen artwork to put in a picture frame that is then sold in their store and probably hanging in your living room. I'd go as far as saying that a lot of the imagery & design elements in tattoos are not licensed or original artwork. Funny how one well known tattoo maker called out someone for copybotting his work, yet many of his designs have been linked to ripped content online. Hypocritical isn't it.

and the list goes on and on... Without accountability, there is only free will.

Gacha sets are hard to complete because of the rarity of some items. I don't think most of the people answered this topic are playing gachas. Nature of gachas don't seem like to be understood by non players.

But we are. The difficulty and cost associated with completing some sets can be very high. That's why having an option to buyout is so appealing. As a player, (and I am sure others would agree) I am a little leery about spending thousands of L from a random gacha reseller to purchase a set. Buying direct from the creator would give me piece of mind.

    12 hours ago, OxfordLennox said:

BTW after spending 8-10 hours to get in an event nobody will go out and check demos.

I wish more vendors would offer a demo for event releases at their mainstore, it would not only serve to be a convenience to customers, but also a means of generating traffic and sales as well. With that said, if there wasn't a demo available to view outside of the event; I'd wait to try it on before spending some serious money on it. Doing anything otherwise is on you.

  18. Linden Labs isn't responsible for the sale of any content or service between two parties. Section 1.4 of their Terms of Service makes that quite clear.

Saying again, gachas are game of chance. Some sets take (ex.) 8k to complete for a reseller but when the creator sell a copy version for 6k, this totally kills the fun of gacha.

In the scenario you described, a user has the opportunity to win that set, and at a price below cost. While odds will vary, it is quite possible.

    On 7/3/2018 at 1:09 PM, sailor36 said:

Trying to cut the income of resellers won't give the creator anything.

If I'm interested in a set, I either have to play for it, trade, or buy it through the secondary market. If I buy it from someone else, I am essentially cutting out any profit the creator would have received had I played. From a business perspective, offering the set with a buyout price (along with superior permissions) is a great way to recoup some of that loss. I'd also argue that it may also prompt more users to buy the entire set.

So you're wrong to assume that creators have nothing to gain from it.
