  1. I don't know why it's so hard making friends in SL. Ironically it used to be much simpler back in the prim/sculpty days when everyone looked like a clown, 90% of my friends list came from those days, and almost all my "active" friends are from then as well, but as expected most of those old friends have already quit SL. I try to be very friendly, chatty, funny, and open to all interests as long as I'm not totally grossed out by it (e.g. amputation or something), sometimes going as far as pretending I'm really into something just to get the conversation going even though I'm kinda meh about it (e.g. dancing). I try going to different places, including a few 18+ places. I'm an introvert though I try my best IMing others, usually complimenting their looks even though sometimes I think their look is meh but their profile interests me.

I don't know what else I'm supposed to do. So far 99% of the "conversations" I get are either rude, boring (basically all I get are 1-2 word replies "hi" "ok" "thank u"), creepy (had a couple of people ask my RL address within a few sentences), completely ignored, or just bland dirty talk. I'm pretty sure my appearance is not a factor cause I spend a ridiculous amount of time perfecting it and almost everyone I talk with approve of it. I do have a distinctive Asian look though... I really hope it's not because most people only want to chat with people who look like they're from an English speaking country for a lack of a better word... Either most of the people in the places I go to are just not friend-worthy or I'm not trying hard enough? I literally think it's easier to make friends IRL than here...

Anyway mostly just venting... wondering if anyone else feels the same.

  2. Maybe you should consider creating some yourself or hiring someone for commission, because clearly high heels or flats is what sells. Most people want to look sexy in SL and wear something that would be too painful to wear in RL, that's kind of obvious. A small percentage of people want to look completely realistic and that's fine, but designers are not going to spend the effort to design something that caters to 1% of the market when the same effort can be invested in the other 99% of the market for a truckload more revenue. 90% of stores don't even bother rigging their clothes to fit boobs larger than size 80 and waist thinner than size 30 lol.

  3. What's your opinion of non-demo clothing with the store's logo plastered all over it and can't be hidden? I'm not talking about a tiny fabric tag with the store logo on the edges of a skirt, I'm talking about full-blown, font 24 letters plopped right in the middle of a top. Would you buy stuff like this? Personally I never buy things like this because:

    1. It just looks bad. I spent money on your stuff, I don't need to be an unpaid walking advertisement for your store, this is not RL where 90% of stores do this for marketing
    2. Easily mistaken for wearing a demo

  4. Going to use https://www.flickr.com/photos/54472912xxxn09/49806126441 as an example because I have this exact same skybox, and it looks nowhere near as good as that, at least with my windlight settings.

My graphics are always at max, at least the max allowed on Firestorm viewer. A few things I'm wondering about:

    • My contrast is nowhere near as high as the one in the photo. Is this some windlight setting or purely photoshop?
    • Edges look really smooth with little to no jaggedness, and image overall just looks sharp. Again is this just photoshop or some setting? My graphics are on absolute max yet still look very blurry/jaggy compared to this
    • How did they get the floor reflections? This skybox does not come with it

Rigging hair to the bust collision bones isn't reliable because different body makers make their bust react differently to the sliders. The same hair may clip through Belleza Freya breasts and float far over Tonic Fine breasts at the same setting. It might work if the hair makers specified a body or included different models, but even if they did they'd still have to deal with thickness of clothes over the breasts as well.

That's true but imo at least it'll look 10x better than long hair where the strands are completely static and clip right through. You'll have a tiny bit of a gap (so far I haven't experienced any clipping as long as your boobs aren't size 100) with most hair but it's virtually not noticeable unless you zoom in from the side.

  6. Long hair that are rigged with the outdated "rigged mesh" skeleton (or they could be using the updated skeleton but is simply ignoring the extra joints) is pretty much static, and either has a huge gap near your chest or clips right through them. When you walk if you have ANY kind of boob physics enabled it'll look absolutely terrible, like you're wearing a wig made of clay. So why would anyone prefer these over fitted ones? There are apparently still a lot of "mainstream" stores simply refusing to rig their hair with the updated fitted skeleton for some bizarre reason, which is a shame cause the actual hair doesn't look that bad. Is this just another case of people refusing to adapt (like IE users refusing to try Chrome/Firefox) or is there something that the outdated rigged mesh skeleton actually does better than the updated one?

  7. It's like they asked a group of 10-yr olds addicted to Fortnite or reddit's r/memes to generate these last names. Way lamer than the original last names back in 200x. 90% are joke names, you've got 2 somewhat Japanese names, and the rest are English names. No Korean, Chinese, Indian, [insert pretty much every other country except the US and Britain] names whatsoever. How inclusive, bravo, LL, you really showed your cultural skills right there.

Also, "resident"? Who in the world is going to spend $50+premium to buy that when it's the default last name for every new account? Do they think we're idiots or something?

  8. Whenever I tp, my body and/or head would get stuck invisible (aka phantom, ghosted, etc). It means it's rendered on client side, but not attached server side, so you see yourself perfectly fine until someone tells you that you look like a floating pile of innards, and as icing on the cake you can't even detach them (cause they're considered "detached" server side) until a relog. This is happening much more often than before, literally for 50% of all my tp's, sometimes even right after a relog (which always fixes the issue before). Anyone else getting this? It's getting really, really annoying. I literally can't tp anywhere unless I log an alt and make sure I look fine and SL didn't f* up my avatar.

  9. Ugly people who are delusional enough to think their look is amazing and should be praised. That and the people who wear those retarded "this many people like me" clicker attachments, where 90% of the count is probably from themselves or alts.

Just had the cringiest conversation. Random ugly person IM'd me in a club and spoke in a way that is so egotistical and delusional it's just baiting me to shower her with praises or something. /facepalm

    Bit gags options:

    1. Look up Marine Kelley (creator of RR) in-world and check one of her stores, alternatively just teleport here http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Pak/68/61/105 .Deluxe gag has optional ponyplay addon.

    2. KDC has a lot of bits and a bridle https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/235

    3. DHB has some bits (and some more ponyplay stuff), they are okay, but in my opinion worse than first two options. Check demos in world first. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/186381

With non flexi tails it's more difficult. Most use flexi "hair" so they move when pony walks. However there are a couple of without flexi that I know of.

    1. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/peachy-stuff-Ponytails/12183496 (braid option)

    2. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/ps-Ponytail-V2-folded-FATPACK/16343078

    Thanks!

Finally managed to get a bridle.

I agree tail is the hard part since most people are content with flexi. I'm mostly looking for Bento tails, possibly animesh, similar to the assortment of kitty/puppy/fox tails that are out there. There are tons of bento tails for actual horse avatars... there must be one for humans lol. As a fallback a generic, non-animated bushy tail similar to 9-tailed foxes might work too.

  11. Not sure if this is considered NSFW or not?

I'm looking for a quality ponygirl bit gag, as well as a tail plug. All I can find on marketplace so far are outdated prim stuff from a decade ago, or low quality faux-mesh stuff with no textures.

So far this one from Maru Kado is the only quality one I've found:

{-MK-}x[CX] - Pony Girl Headgear (Black)

It's perfect but lacks colour options (only comes in black and white), though I might just get this one if I can't find anything else.

So far I haven't found any quality tails yet, cause all I can find are outdated flexi stuff. If I search for "pony tail" then all I see are, of course, ponytail hairs. If I search "pony plug" then all I see are butt plugs, lol.

    Thank you.

  12. I didn't know it was cynical Monday. Asking a simple question and all I'm getting are snarky responses.

No privacy in SL? Hmm so what's why we have these trivial and non-trivial privacy QoL enhancements right?

    • Ability to hide groups from others
    • Ability to hide online status from others
    • Ability to remove friends discreetly
    • Ability to hide yourself completely from search
    • Probably a whole section in the ToS regarding privacy in IMs and whatnot
    • As was pointed out above by another, ability to set parcel privacy which actually answers my question
    • Probably bunch of others that I can't think of atm

So yes I do think there is some privacy in SL, at least more privacy than other online sims.

so you want to know where others are looking, but as soon it's you you freak out?

enable your privacy setting for your home. ( won't prevent people seeing you on the minimap, or radars)

Freak out? You need better English comprehension skills. Either that or you just lack basic understanding of privacy. Or you could just be a voyeur and expects everyone to enjoy that, who knows.

It allows it because there’s less nefarious purposes for radar-based zooming, such as locating others at ample ground-level areas. Skyboxes don’t guarantee privacy unless you own the parcel and it allows you to restrict both outside rendering of avatars, and access to the actual parcel.

Thanks for an actual non-snarky answer. I'm still not sure why people need to locate others at an instant, given LL's countless other measures on privacy, but w/e. I'll talk to the landlord on enabling parcel privacy.

  14. Why does LL even allow this? It completely defeats the purpose of having some privacy in a skybox if anyone 3000m away from you, at ground level, can simply click radar -> double click your name and they instantly get 360-degree access to your entire home, including yourself. I, like 99.99% of residents in SL, am not the sole resident of a sim. Many times I've caught other residents perving at me when I'm changing clothes, demoing stuff or even decorating my home (I know this because I have look-target enabled). I don't have a partner so I don't do any naughty stuff at home, but I doesn't anyone else feel kind of bothered that there's never any privacy even if you live in a skybox while making out with your partner, in your own home? A lot of people also hide their look-target so that's even more annoying.

  15. It's sad what non-Asians think Asians look like. I guess most people in this thread are still stuck in the pre-2000 days where Disney's Mulan is supposed to represent what Asians, especially East Asians, look like.

As an Asian myself I can say only one image in this entire thread even remotely resembles what regular, somewhat pretty, Asian females look like. Go google some pretty Asian women from the 21st century, it's not that hard, especially if you're after a C/K/J-pop or movie star kind of "artificial" look.

  16. Saw this in some really old thread, but I'm looking for the same thing to add to my lounge area!

Anyone happen to know where I can get a copy of this? It's a fully working, scripted bomberman game (not static image, not media prim that links to some flash site).

    image.png.e2124ab0219271f5801c5366a88a64d6.png

It was circulated full perm and free. Creator is no longer in SL and the listing's not there anymore. Anyone still have a copy?

    Thank you.

  17. The TVs that sell for like 3k on marketplace are obviously not some useless media prim which only displays a web browser client-side. Anyone know how exactly these work? There seems to be very little info on these from my various Google/LSL wiki searches. My guesses:

    1. The creator has their own website/server with a basic video selection layout and video player
    2. The creator integrated their website with some kind of Youtube/Hulu/etc API that allows them to retrieve videos
    3. The creator is displaying this website on a prim to all users, server-side, through some kind of script

Is it something like that? If it is, the 3rd step seems to be mostly a mystery as I can't find anything on LSL wiki that remotely relates to this.

  18. Got a ton of people on my list but since I rotated through about 4 computers in the last few years, most of the chat logs I have with these people are gone. I don't have the best memory so I don't recall what I talked about with these people. Any way to retrieve chat logs? Doesn't hurt to ask but these are probably not stored server-side eh?

  19. Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't even bother responding to single word greetings like "hi" or "/waves", especially if their avatar looks like someone created in 2007 and never updated again. If the person can't even come up with a way to get my attention in the beginning why should I waste time carrying a conversation? If you want to make friends, actually spend some effort at making the other person interested in you and write more than one frickin word. You're the person who's wanting to make friends, not the other way around. As an added bonus it's also nice if your avatar's appearance doesn't make the other person have a gag reflex.

I've made some good friends on here by doing stuff to stand out as opposed to sound boring.

silly things like "scuse me, bot inspector, if you're a bot you need to jump into that river"

or "/me sneaks up and yells "happy birthday".

I'd always suggest break the mold, make yourself stand out from the crowd.  Of course it doesn't always work, yesterday some grumpy person suggested I (cleaning up the language) "move along".

Highly agree. Being funny, cute, or just complimenting the other person's looks or profile is an easy way to start a conversation and break the ice, and works 95%+ of the time unless the other person is simply an aloof jerk.

  20. Wow blender is dumb, yeah I did unwrap it, but I selected all faces and clicked "unwrap", instead of selecting each individual face and unwrap one at a time, and apparently that didn't work... For the cube it's not an issue, but I have a sphere with like 1000+ faces, separated into 4 materials. If I select all the faces for one material, how do I make this quarter-sphere fill one UV map? Cause if I just reset UV for all faces of a material it'll end up looking like this:

    image.png.9920e1885b13d3970f9820ca19648c4e.png

  21. I uploaded some simple shapes from Blender but for some reason the faces are all stretched like this, making them unusable unless I manually unstretch them by increasing x/y and playing with offsets:

    image.png.3fe5c466cc26770d0a96d42245a4fde6.png

Each face is still separate if I select it:

    image.png.68ecd82a1532d4218b1a064412861b6b.png

Anyone know what in the world is going on here? Why are the faces not centered on each side and stretched like this? I assigned each face to a different material in Blender, then unwrapped it with basic UV unwrap. is there something else I'm supposed to do?
