It seems quarterly is still there for regular premium,

    IMG_20220623_210041.png

it makes some sense that their is no quarterly Premium Plus plan

back when Linden raised the price of Premium they also planned to drop quaterly at that time

it was pointed out to Linden that there are people on low fixed incomes (pensions, disabilities, etc) actual poor people, who do not have an immediately available $100 to spend. That they have to save up to get this amount

and one of the example given, was that for some people the time needed to save up this amount was between now and next pay day. While with others (actual poor people) on low fixed income the save up time can run to 6 months or more. Like if can only save up $5 a week then will have to go without for 20 weeks to be able to have the $100. And in this case the overwhelming number of people in these financial situations go with the monthly plan. Spend $10 a month

that when so (as it is so) then the subscription plan is regressive. Only those who can put together $100 in a lump sum will get a discount. The poorest RL residents do not, not unless they go without a Linden Home for the duration of the initial save up period

so the need for a quarterly discount to reduce the saveup time to get a discount

Linden took this onboard and put the quarterly Premium discount subscription back in. For actual RL poor people to be able to get some discount, while also keeping the saveup period shorter than 20 weeks or more had there only been a annual plan discount

this said. given the then argument for actual poor people, it makes sense to not have a quarterly Premium Plus account,.  Objectively, we are not RL poor when we opt to go for a Premium Plus account, which is 150% more than Premium

I'm working on a project where a prim would hold several notecards that would be editable, and are Full Perm.  Of course as the owner, this is no problem.  But I am unable to find a way to allow someone else to share the option to view/edit the notecards within the prim.

I tried setting the object to a GROUP, and using a GROUP tag, which did not work.

And I even tried sharing edit permissions with someone, and that did not work either.

when the object is owned/deeded to group and the contents (notecards) are set to modify permission then group members with edit rights on group objects can edit the notecards in the object

in the case of you being the owner of the object then anyone you give edit rights on your stuff too, can edit the notecards when the notecards are set to modify permission

That's a great way to get the message to the old LH residents!  Empty lots among some half knocked down condemned (unoccupied) homes with a bulldozer here and there. Some signage  pointing to Belli and what they could have with double prims or even with their regular 512 Li.

could get some residents doing protest builds on their old Linden Homes in response, like We Shall Not, We Shall Not Be Moved. Banners and barricades round their homes, chucking water balloons and marshmallows at Demolition Linden what dares to approach with their bulldozer. Be quite fun that 😸

Looks to me like in some areas some houses have already been removed, but maybe it was like that.

it makes some sense for home removal to have begun already if this is what is happening

helps to reduce the number of new people moving in, while also signalling to the existing home owners that the bulldozers are at work, and might be a good idea for the remaining residents to start thinking about moving to a new Linden Homes neighbourhood

If they really want to make me fall in love with them again, they could offer the option to buy the first year (prorated) and an offer the option for an additional 1 or 2 years for the $199 price.. providing you pay for it all up front.

i like this. I be tempted to pay a 4 year subscription in one go if there was a way to do this. Just so I don't have to think about it again for a long time (Linden might go bust in that time but would be oh! well for me if that happened)

I'm curious, is it dying down to where it's not that bad now with lag and things?

i first went on the weekend. Got lagged to death, too many people for my computer

i since did the rest in my evenings Monday Tueseday, which is the time of least numbers of people on the grid. Was pretty good for me at that time. Not so many people

some of the things on display I was quite impressed with.  Some not so much. But is more my preferences influencing this than anything else

    1. The "choose your Linden Home" thing might have an unintended consequence: It could make "Game of Homes"  futile for non-Plus subscribers because only the dregs will be left after the Plussers have snarfed up anything good. Even for regular Premiums like me who don't play "GoH", if Plus turns out to be popular for some reason, it could make Bellisseria a marginally less appealing place with the only available plots being those pre-rejected by Plussers

    yes that

only way I can see this working is if those who want to pre-select homes have to pay some fairly substantial fee for the privilege, on top of their Plus subscription. A non-refundable fee should the home be subsequently abandoned

I noticed that at least one store offers a gift card that won't pay for a SINGLE item available in their store

i often wonder what motivates merchants to do this.  The Shop 'n Hop is the biggest foot traffic event on the annual calendar and the rent is a gift item of L$300

it baffles me that a merchant would extrapolate this to lost sales: To the sum of L$300 times gifts taken. I don't understand how anyone thinks like this

  9. i have 2 impressions so far

    1) a thing I am noticing at Shop 'n Hop from more than one vendor. Which goes like: pay 250L to join our shop group and we will give you a Shop n' Hop gift of 300 store credits. Is getting pretty close to (if not over)  the edge of what gifting is about

    2) I notice that this year the regions appear to be more organised by content. Quite a few regions seemed to be grouped by content type (not every store, just quite a few). So Shop n Hop feels more like a department store this year, and less like a jumble sale as it has been in the past. Which is a good thing I think

I suspect the point is, SL is an unusual beast and nvidia doesn't test against, so, if you have no absolute need to run the newest video drivers, stick with what is working.  Rest assured that when nvidia touts "performance improvements" in new driver release they are not talking about the old parts of the driver that SL uses.

    this is me

i have a GTX 1050Ti graphics card. I am still on the NVidia 456.71 driver. For a while I was updating regularly then the driver after 456.71 caused some issues for my SL. So I never bothered updating since. It still goes as it always has

If that's the case, I'm surprised it wasn't called something like Creator Premium or Business Premium in that case, to, you know, identify that.  Like "Event Regions" are aimed at "Events" for example.

your point about the naming is pretty valid. tbh I am just guessing. Is just that other than people who want lots of groups I don't see who else other than business-oriented people would see any benefit in this package

this said, seems like the contents of this package has been going round and round within Linden for ages, and amongst themselves have probably had as many discussions on the permutations as we have had on these forums. And in the end Linden had to do something given how long ago it was announced, and went with this

is kind of a lesson in some ways. Don't announce a new product coming soon, when don't know what that new product is

I just went to SLB Exhilarate which is using over 50k of the 60k max prims.

Portal Park is another example, but with 36k prims used out of the 45k max.

I think the Moles should have to work with the same limits as the rest of us. 😤

i thought these were the new event regions, which we can get for our own events

I'm trying to learn the flow of it as when I started land sales were quick and easy and recently just stopped to a crawl and curious if that is just how it is when summers hit the northern hemisphere.

a thing to factor in when we are new to trading in land

long-time land traders will buy land at a reasonable markup price from residents they know to not be land traders. The traders know that these residents will, by and large, spend what they might get in a markup to buy other land on which to settle/live

when the long time traders recognise that the new resident has become a land trader also, then they stop buying that land at markup prices

.. His point, writing as an English professor, is that "correct" written English can sound pretentious and stuffy when it's spoken.  The spoken language allows for comfortable relaxation of the rules

i experience the same with māori language. There is formal māori (grammatical form) language and there is what we call kitchen māori. Formal māori for when we have to stand and speak/orate formally to a formal gathering. Be respectful of the language and to the people present yes

can be shame funny sometimes tho. Like one time this person stood and lectured the previous speakers on using kitchen māori to address what was a formal gathering. Then they switched to english language to explain to the non-māori speakers what was being said. And the lecturing person did this in kitchen english

left themselves wide open, too funny! shame!

was a rush to be the next speaker. To lecture the lecturer on how disrespectful it is to lecture the gathering in kitchen english, on the need to be respectful of language when speaking forrmally

kaumātua quelled the rush, stood and did it a kind way with plenty of humour, while also acknowledging the point the lecturer had been wanting/trying to make, which everybody present took onboard. And to their credit that person stood up again and apologised to the previous speakers and to the gathering. So was all good

I think that's more or less what I'm questioning -- was it official or not.

it depends on which island your friend was on.  Were they on Welcome Island or at the next step Social Island, or did they spawn at a Community Gateway

depending on which island they did spawn then the official or not can be better answered

Community Gateways are resident-run and do have official-to that-community helpers

New entrant Welcome Island and Social Island  also have a helpy resident group recognised by Linden

this said tho, your friend could have encountered what is sometimes referred to as a rogue mentor. Which on the Welcome Island happens as Lucia mentions. Somebody makes an alt account, signs in to Welcome Island and never leaves, which allows them to always be present on Welcome Island

some of the Social Islands are open to the public, so if your friend encountered this person there then this can happen to anyone and your friend got unlucky

hopefully tho you have encouraged your friend to move on from the not-helping department person and are helping them to realise the potential that SL offers
