  1. Especially age fluid and species fluid.
  2. Oh, okay...so, not an SL-related incident, but an old early-internet-days thing.
  3. LOL...that's a hilarious scenario. I imagine the kidnappers in your vignette to be these guys: No, what I think the legend implies is that they use SL to phish for information about you, figuring out who might be vulnerable or an easy mark, and then use that information to track you down and then kidnap you. Maybe they don't just kidnap women on the street with a van because they're shy.
  4. What incident in 2008? EDIT: *searches google* Ohhh...this one??? https://www.geek.com/games/second-life-relationship-leads-to-attempted-kidnapping-577890/ That b¡t¢h be crazy!
  5. Twice now in my mere three months on SL I have heard what I can only presume is an urban legend (err...cyberban legend?) about people who hack into your SL account and then show up in RL and kidnap you. The first time, it was someone at a newbie sim who, ostensibly in an attempt to be helpful and protective, warned me never to give out any personal information, email addresses, or anything else that might lead to my true identity being discovered because there are hackers out there who will use that information to gather more information about me in order to track me down and kidnap me. Recently, another person, who got angry at me because I rebuffed his solicitations, threatened informed me that I should "be careful who [ I ] cross" because "there are hackers out there who will find you and kidnap you." Am I correct in believing that this is nothing more than an overblown myth? Or is there really this dark cadre of SL hackers out there seeking to kidnap young women? (Note to dark cadre of hacker-kidnappers, if you do exist: my dad is Liam Neesons, and he has a very particular set of skills.)
  6. Hi, Akasha. Join our family. I have a mother and father, brother, and four sisters. (Oh! And a dog!) We'd love to have you. It is VERY drama-free...in fact, the siblings go out all the time together and have fun. Our Mother and Father stay home pretty much, and our Father is online a lot, and always super sweet. IM me in world. It has done wonders to cure my loneliness.
  7. Thank you all. I will check my driver first.
  8. @Claireschen Hesten: I tried disabling VBO. It helped, but only about 50%. I still see streaks. @Fionalein: I downloaded the newest Firestorm viewer, and still had the same problem. @Skell Dagger: I don't know how old my graphics card is...how do I find out. If it's too old, what do I do? Replace it?
  9. Nope. But do you have any useful information for me?
  10. I am using the Linden viewer, and even downloaded the Firestorm viewer, but in both viewers I see streaks emanating from all avatars...like...long lines touching all points of the avatars' silhouette and stretching into the distance....like the kind of cartoon lines you might see if a cartoon character were running fast. See the image I attached. I have been experiencing this since yesterday. Yesterday, it was on-and-off. Today it's non-stop. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? How can I fix it? I tried clearing my cache but that didn't work. I tried fiddling with the "Me / Preferences / Graphics tab / Quality & Speed" and "Avatar Maximum Capacity" settings but that didn't work either.

  12. I am Ruchi (RuchiVee) and am new to SL. I've been here about a month and a half, and like to dancing at salsa sims and relaxing on beach sims. I've tried RPing on SL -- started with a medieval sword & sorcery RP sim, and then a Star Wars RP sim, but neither of them really held my interest. Now I'm looking into having a family. I've got a brother so far.
