  1. My best friend in SL brought me out of myself. I am quite the hermit both in SL and RL. I enjoy my own company so much that I forget that I have people that really care about me. My friend and I spent hours and hours together. For a time we were seldom seen without the other one nearby. This friendship showed me that I can open myself up to people and let them care about me. It showed me how much I had that I could share with others. Emotions and I always hid away from the world. Now because of this one person, I am able to share a bit better. I nearly left my husband about 4 years ago to live by myself because neither of us were good with any type of open conversation. Now we can talk about what bothers us. We share the good time still but we now share the emotional ups and downs that life brings. We don't hide from each or keep things from each other.

    Therefore, because of 1 person, my marriage is stronger than it ever was. I don't spend as much time in SL but my husband still does. He enjoys it alot. I have found things in RL that I enjoy a lot too. I have finally allowed other family members to come into my life again. Now I go out to lunches and dinners with my son and grandkids. Surprisingly, I enjoy having them around now.

    Thank you, dear friend.

  2. I need 3 new logos. I have a texture that can be used as the example. I need not only the finished product but the different layers in case I wish to have it

    changed in the future. Please contact me in world Karlee Heartsong by message. No NC's. My IM's go to my email.

    The person I hire needs to have a good portfolio of logo's that I can see. I pay well for the product that meets my requirements.

  3. I said I would come back with what I finally came up with. I tried many different things and then terraformed the land and did not use any of the rivers or anything else from Skye, Fanatik or any other on the market item. Here is a pic of what I did do as promised.  Of course, I haven't finished the rest of the sim. Only this small part. Once again, I thank all of you for the ideas and suggestions. If you see anything that I could do different, please, let me know.

  4. All these replies helped. I have been trying to terraform it first and will keep at it. I really like terraforming. So, I will lay out some pieces that will help me layout exactly what I am wanting to do. Then do the terraforming. I will try all these suggestions. Thank you all, very much.

    When using mesh parts like rivers and canyons as you mention from skye and Fanatics,, i partly terraform the idea i have in mind, after that i put in the mesh landforms i want to use.
    After that the manual finetuning( can still also contain a lot of work and large parts) and also masking the transitions where the mesh ends and "land" begins for most natural effects.

    Sometimes, when it's really complicated, i lower the whole region under water level, put out the mesh main leading structures, and slowly work the land up where it needs to be. To keep a good view on what you do, dont texture the region upfront, or in a contrasting way.

    Thank you.

    I am not a professional region builder, but I do love terraforming and making landscapes.  I would start with the terraforming.  For me, it is much harder and more intricate work that takes quite a bit of time.  It is much easier to fit water in after the groundwork is complete.  (I love that literal pun!)

    Then the icing ion the cake is putting in the plants and animal decorations.

    No matter how you choose to do it, I hope you come back and share your progress and the final creation.

    Thanks. I will return to let you know.

  7. Hi,

    I have built a few sims during my time in SL, but I have always had trouble with getting a nice winding river running through a nice canyon, like this beautiful gorge in the Grand Canyon (see image below). I want the river lined and the water flowing over rocks etc. Now to my question:

    When building a sim with parts like I described above, do you put in the river and build everything around it? By putting in a river, I mean putting in a rive like Fanatik, Skye and probably

    other manufactures make then terraforming? How do the experts do it? I need to learn this!  Which way is better.

    Thanks,

  8. I am looking for someone to create a logo design for my sim. It would be like a military/biker patch (embroidered look).

    If there is anyone out there that can do that, please send me a PM here or in SL itself.

    Hi Karlee, nice to meet you. I'm a Hell on Heels MC sister.

    I will add to what you said regarding the MC and biker community in SL. It's full of awesome people. The drama hogs are few enough that one shouldn't worry about them. Those wanting to join an MC should try some ride outs and events with various clubs to get a sense of whether they want to be part of that group. Interested people can join MC supporter groups to get notices of events and rides.

    Hope to see you on the road some time, or at one of the rallies.

    Peace and respect

    Hi Elysienne,

    I have met one or two of your sisters. They were very nice. I agree fully with everything you say here and thank you for the further clarification. I always say to new people that it is not us choosing them it is them also choosing us... this goes for any MC not just Mavericks. Joining supporter groups is one of the best ways to discover what a club is all about. There are a lot of MC's out there folks and most are even willing to teach you everything you need to know about the MC world, including how to ride, how to adjust the bike to your specific riding style.

    Most of the people I have met have been great, a lot of fun. There is always something exciting happening. Most MC's are like out families and clans. I highly recommend joining more than one support group. I myself am a member of the support groups of our allies.

    If you do wish to do something new and exciting, check out the Motorcycle world. Of course, I would love it if you chose to start exploring with the club that I am the Vice President of but ... lol, that is not always the way to go.

  10. What are some of the ways you make friends in SL?

    For me it is riding motorcycles and being in a Motorcycle Club (MC).  It took a lot of research for me to find a group or MC that I felt "comfortable" in but I did find one. It is built on Respect, Community, and Honor.

    In SL, as in real life, there are Riding Clubs and MC's (Motorcycle Clubs) who enjoy cycle rideouts (going together on long rides on more than 90 tracks that can go up to 4k m). More important, like a social club, members feel connected, run events and charities, host dance parties, celebrate life just like anyone else does in SL. Like any group in SL, there are good ones and there are bad (filled with drama) clubs. Anyone wishing to understand and try an MC way of life has to do their due diligence and research, meet & greet, and get to know members before deciding if "rideouts" and "fellowship" mean what they hope it means. There are many clubs with retired RL bikers. However, there are many RL social riders who retired from business, universities, the military, and many other venerable professions who choose to connect with people who are like minded. For example: an MC Mission: Rideouts Together; Motto: Respect, Diversity, Inclusiveness, Fellowship, Freedom & Fun.

    Send me an IM if you would more about Mavericks MC.

    Karlee Heartsong

    RL Bikers who can no longer ride in RL have joined SL to continue riding and may SL clubs are filled with these wonderful people.

    Hope that clarifies what I meant. 🙂

    Seems pretty straight forward.

    gChannelAnnounce = -47;
    gChannelTeleport = -48;
    gChannelDialog   = -49;
    list gDestinations;
    list gDestinationNames;
    default
    {
        state_entry()
        {
            llListen(gChannelAnnounce,"",NULL_KEY,"");
            llListen(gChannelTeleport,"",NULL_KEY,"");
            llListen(gChannelDialog  ,"",NULL_KEY,"");
            llRegonSay(gChannelAnnounce,(string)llGetKey());
        }
        touch_start(integer n)
        {
            llDialog(llDetectedKey(0),"Select a teleport destination:",gDestinationNames,gChannelDialog);
        }
        listen(integer Channel,string Name,key ID,string Text)
        {
            if(Channel==gChannelAnnounce)
            {
                gDestinations+=[ID];
                gDestinationNames+=[Name];
                llRegionSayTo(ID,gChannelAnnounce,(string)llGetKey());
            }
            else if(Channel==gChannelTeleport)
            {
                llRequestExperiencePermissions(ID, "");
            }
            else if(Channel==gChannelDialog)
            {
                integer index = llListFindList(gDestinationNames,Text);
                if(index==-1)
                    llRegionSayTo(ID,0,"ERROR, destination not found!");
                else
                    llRegionSayTo(llList2Key(gDestinations,index),gChannelTeleport,(string)ID);
            }
        }
        experience_permissions(key av)
        {
            vector pos = llGetPos();
            llTeleportAgent(av, "", pos+<1,0,0>*llGetRot(), pos);
        }
    }

    It's a bit brittle, and I haven't tested it so it might have a few bugs. All of your teleporters with this script should be named something less than 12 letters long to fit into a dialog button, and it doesn't have any way of removing a teleport destination, unless you reset scripts in all of the teleporters. Also only supports up to 13 teleporters, again due to dialog limitations, and will throw an error (due to trying to give a dialog menu with empty button list) if there's only one teleporter.

    Thank you so much. I can't script at all.

  12. I am looking to hire someone to make me a custom script for a tp board.

    1. Multi-Location

    2. Same Sim

    3. Can add a location without redoing the entire tp system

    I need this to use a set position marker not coordinates, the map or anything that someone sits on. It should be an experience.

    Yes, yes, I know there are some on the MP like I am describing but every last one requires me to re-do the entire system when I make a new venue. I am looking to make my life easier not have to re-do something all the time.

  13. For our USO charity event for Wounded Warriors on May 29 2021, Beyond Vanilla Resort is seeking the following:

    Live Singers

    Bands

    Chorus Girl Dance Troupes

    Burlesque Dancers

    Comedians

    The show will center around the Vietnam Era. This will be along the lines of a Bob Hope USO show where he and his contemporaries performed for the troops in Vietnam. They also did WWII so that era music will be welcome too.

    Please send your bio, contact info and fees to Karlee Heartsong. IM's go to my email and NC's with an IM telling me what items you sent works great.

    Hope you are all having a wonderful Real and Second Life.

    Oh yes, if this is not the right forum, please, let me know where I should post this.

    Thanks Karlee
