It's not hard to implement in software, but it takes an extra rendering pass, like shadows, so it slows down the frame rate. It's rarely seen in video games.

"Sims 2" had working mirrors more than 12 years ago.

    11 hours ago, animats said:

When games do have mirrors, they're usually not too big, and the number of objects they reflect is kept low

One of the expansion packs added "ballet school" full height wall mirrors, so you could build an entire wall covered in reflective glass. Custom content makers added mirrored floor and ceiling tiles too.

Sims 2 Mirrors ran on standard nvidia cards that cost $60-$100, 12 years ago...

There was a fashion show in SL within the last year where the entire build was repeated, upside down, underneath a transparent prim, to get a reflecting pool effect.

Actually, that "trend" is more than 7 years old, there was one merchant who made a mirrored version of their entire store.

Unfortunately, she also made her own mirrored vendor boards, complete with scripts, so her place lagged like a swine...

Ah good old "Madlander Max, the Prim Warrior", screaming along the roads in the last of the V8 Primterceptors, with its trunk filled with eazy-rez boxes containing amusement arcades, mega-prim rotating adboards, and rental boxes, shouting...

     "Madlands! Madlands!

Yes, and 95% of the time it's the same people...

    People who want to...

    • Ban skyboxes and private estates and exile the "anti-social people" who use them to Project Stupid.
    • Force the survivors to move from greenbelt Madlands sims into "Urban RP Cityscapes" like Kama City.
    • Cover as much of the Madlands as possible with copies of Kama City.
    • Place bike rezzers outside Adult rated Zindra Infohubs, in the belief that this will somehow convince the occupants to stop asking for 'poseball sex' in IM's and "explore the beauties of Kama City".
    • Legalise copybotting of any MP item that hasn't been updated in the last 12 months, so they can steal other peoples IP, and "improve it".
    • Legalise copybotting of entire sims, with a special "entire sim" export format so it can easily be transfered to Project Stupid, or the OpenSim Empty Grid.
    • Ban "bots and alts".
    • Lag the grid to death with thousands of AI scripted animesh store clerk NPC's.
    • Discourage teleporting so as to force the survivors of their other "sl improvements" to drive between the endless empty copies of Kama City along the expanded road network, on motor cycles from their shop in Kama City...

All of the above suggestions were taken from forum posts by Madlanders, right here on the SL Forum, over the last year or so...

Skyboxes are a thing in SL only because the land pricing is so bad.

That makes no sense at all...

The price for the parcel is the same regardless if you build your Ideal Prim Hovel at ground level so as to be annoyed by wandering noobs, or 3000 m up where you can have some privacy...

    ...

SL has skyboxes because, people don't want clueless console trash gamer noobs wandering in and asking the inhabitants if they are "dummy avatars and npcs" before whining about "bots  and alts"...

It's sickening that *some* people can only complain that other people don't want their homes to be public infohubs, filled with passing strangers...

    <madlander asshat mode>

How dare people live in a skybox, or put a house on a high altitude platform, or put up banlines...

EVERYONE should be forced to live at ground level in the Madlands, preferably in one of those empty useless fugly 10 year old prim-waste urban zones, with their homes & furniture set to welcome passing urban rp trash...

    Do you have RLV activated?

RLV doesn't stop you offering teleports except under very specific restrictions, which would be pretty obvious, such as not being able to start IM's, not being able to see your current location, etc.

Contrary to uninformed rumour, simply having rlva enabled in a viewer does NOT cause most bugs.

Wear the collar, and in local chat type "/1*runaway", then click the collar and go to the rlv submenu where you should find a "clear restrictions" option, for good measure chec k the leash menu too and see if "strict" is ticked.

    if so, how?

(sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum to post this)

Ok, if it's your land, and the destination parcel is adjacent...

You should be able to use the objects tab in "about land" to highlight and select all your rezzed items, failing that, opening the edit window and using a drag box can do this, or shift-leftclick on each item...

Regardless, once you have all the objects you wish to move, selected, simply drag them by the edit-move-arrows, across the line to the other parcel.

If the other parcel is NOT adjacent then instead of dragging the items around by the edit-move-arrows, you RIGHT click and "take" the whole lot back into inventory as a grouped object, which you can rez at the new place.

Insofar as success with women - yes!  I have been with my 'woman' for 28 years. Uninterrupted years. Monogamous years!

So, not Alpha behavior... The Alpha goes out seeking conquest, to spread his "superior genes", that's how alpha's work in nature, that is the nature of alphas,

Kill or drive off the weak and the independent, shag many chicks, leave many sons, who will grow up to stab you in the back and turn on each other to replace you as the LEADER!

This is where a lot of the "toxic masculinity" comes from, the father who Majored in Football, who will not accept that his son would rather play chess. The father who humped his way through 387 co-eds in Uni, who cannot accept that his son prefers guys.

    It's fairly common.

    ...

Here's an interesting historical fact for you, from the days when "alphas" didn't face the "challenges of the modern world".

In Athens, 2500 years ago, one of the greatest social problems of the day was...

"Father Beating" - Young alpha-wannabe males who decided they didn't want to wait for the old man to roll over and die before they inherited, so they would beat him up and throw him out of the house, and thus establish their "alpha dominance"...

    ...

Perhaps thats at the root of the "men not liking men" thing...

Too many are assuming that the Cult of the alpha is the be all and end all, and under that dogma, OTHER men are not "friends" because they are plotting against you, to steal your share of the mammoth steak, shag your females and kick you out of the cave!

Problem isn't who has their name on the mesh, it's if the SuperEntitlement clown honours the pay-them-to-upload-for-you deal, and doesn't sell your mesh as if it was theirs.

24 minutes ago, JJack Montreal said:

What kill Rome is the ratio roman/slave that was 1:1

Actually, no, first of all the ratio of free citizens to slaves didn't kill off Rome, cheap slave labour made Rome extremely prosperous, and allowed it to field massive tax funded professional armies...

And the reason Rome switched over to professional full time soldiers rather than part time citizen militia, around 105 b.c.e by order of the Consul Marius, was because they couldn't get enough volunteers from those prosperous enough to pay for their own war gear, to fill the ranks.

Mainly because the "real roman men" were too busy sitting on their butts watching gladiators and boasting about how manly it was to eat snack food while watching slaves die...

Salaried professionals recruited from the poorest part of the population were far more reliable than the "concerned right thinking citizens".

There's no evidence of "feminazism" in rome, Roman women had almost no privilege, many didn't even have a proper first name, being simply referred to by a feminised version of the family name. Women didn't vote, arranged marriages were common. I don't know where you are seeing "feminazism" in Roman history, been watching American Actresses spout un-historical lines on HBO mini series again?

What is absurd is women and beta males talking about men like if you were specialists. You are the end of a civilization while this current degeneration think they are progress. Roman had all those social symptoms as well,  at the end.

Actually, the problem with Rome was...

Arrogant Alpha-male wannabes who thought sitting on their lardy backsides in the Flavian amphitheater, eating free food, while watching slaves kill each other made them "real men" but who wouldn't DREAM of enlisting in the damn legions to keep the "real alpha males" from the Steppes out of Roman territory...

So the provinces peeled away, the economy went down the toilet, and the "alpha male wannabe braggarts" who went on and on about how macho they were for watching gladiators die, and sat on their lardy backsides complaining that the provincials in the Legions hadn't stopped the enemy yet.

If you are going to claim Rome, as an argument in favour of your Misogynistic and Homophobic Web-Hero Alpha-Wannabe posturing, might I suggest you actually go away and LEARN something about Rome first...

Did you read ANY of the threads about the return of Lastnames?

You pick your new user name when you create your account, it adds Resident on the end, then you join Entitlement Club, then you CHANGE your name to whatever for a fee, that's the system they have described, only thing that hasn't been made clear yet is how much the fee will be, just that it's probably going to be a US$ fee, and only for Entitlement Club members.

You won't GET a choice of last name unless you are Entitlement Club and pay the fee, non entitlement club accounts will still be created as "Residents", unless theres been some new (last month or so) unannounced change in the plans, available only on some blog of a friend of some Linden.

Or maybe go into the experience itself and de select the permissions you do not wish it to have.

Usually it's just a cube with the retailers store logo on, containing the BOSH script for receiving texture hud info. But it can easyily be something like unrigged antlers, it just means that the finished linked item has to be attached to the point where you want the unrigged parts attached,
