I'd like to know if anyone has ever felt that there comes a time when we are just "too old" for something.  I am pondering a dilemma in real life regarding a fashion I'd like to wear because I feel I just may be too old and other's would laugh at me.  So, to put it simply, I'm bothered because I don't want to be laughed at.  So, are we ever too old for something?  Is carpe diem for one and all no matter what age?  Is the world not my oyster too?  Or, at a certain age, does that oyster and carpe diem extend only to youth?  I also feel stupid for pondering carpe diem as I'm not going to be here forever for one thing.  Yet, I hesitate.

The fact, as you have said, that you are "not going to be here forever", is exactly why you should ponder carpe diem.

As for people laughing, it's something that they tend to do to others for many many reasons. You could wear something that you consider to be 'age appropriate' and some may still laugh... possibly because they think it is something that a person older than you appear to be, would wear in their mind.

You cannot worry what others will think, because you cannot cover all eventualities. Wear what YOU want to wear, and what makes you happy... express your individuality.... it's not harming anyone else after all.

Strangers could also be doing unspeakable things to your avatar which you can't see.  I suppose some might welcome such an opportunity for textual satisfaction.

That's certainly the case for the existing text only viewers, but the mobile app that LL has mentioned won't have the avatar using it actually inworld.... which is a blessing indeed for those of us that love to drive the mainland roads and have to dodge those avs that love to stand in the middle of it. :P

Aha, I can hand over ownership? That is safe, my alts are me. 😋

I could not find it in the group profile?

I did this a while back, I think it’s just a matter of giving one of your alts the owner role. You’ll get a warning before doing so but should then be able to leave the group after another warning.

How does one make a suggestion on names? Do LL still accept name suggestions?

Thanks for all the replies. It is really appreciated.

A competition was run when they announced that the names would be coming back last year. Some of the initial names were taken away and replaced by some other new ones back in June.

Just keep an eye on the LL blogs and forums, if they run any more competitions you should learn about it there.

You still don't HAVE to use the new viewer.  I'm not.

I’ve always had both FS and the LL viewer installed, it’s handy for logging on an alt to place furniture. FS has been my viewer of preference for years (particularly when travelling) and having seen that so many haven’t been happy with the latest version (I always wait to see feedback before updating), I’m intending to keep to the previous version for as long as possible. However... when staying at my various parcels I find that I’m increasingly using the LL viewer in order to enjoy EEP. My ‘old house’ main parcel is now fogbound and I love it! My space station has a Milky Way instead of the sun, and my LH parcel is set to mimic my own RL daylight hours. It’s good to find the strengths in alternatives and play them to your advantage :)

Weirdly, I've never had anyone give me a difficult time about looking at them.

And I've certainly never snapped at anyone I caught looking at me. Why would I? I expend a great deal of effort to look fabulous, dahling. The poor dears deserve an occasional treat.

If I see crosshairs lingering on me at any time, I just hit my hud and give a smile and a wink 😉

  7. I’ve been travelling quite a lot over the holidays in various vehicles on both road and water and haven’t had my enjoyment spoiled by the bug. I keep the script error box as small as possible and just leave it in the corner of my screen so just see the icon appear over the vehicle if the crossing throws up the error. It certainly hasn’t ‘borked’ any of my vehicles.

if i'm right, it's also if you ever buy land again.. your fee date is fixed at the first time you were charged the first time ..

Totally correct. My land holdings monthly billing date is different to my premium renewal. The ‘Next bill date’ is the one to look at before making any land purchases, I recently was going to add to my land, but the due date was only 2 days away. I was happy to wait those 2 days before purchasing in order to save an increased amount for that current month’s bill.

The charges would be for the full month then? Not prorated for the portion of the month it was actually owned for?

Yes, you incur the full month tier payment even if you own it for only seconds within your bill cycle.

For the life of me I can not remember where I saw this place. At a builder who had many atmospheric, lovely (unfinished) buildings. Often set in woodlands or forest for the demoes, possibly wintery. This building I need to find again was a former ballet/dance studio; basically, an empty manor, plaster walls and tile floors, main floor was some small entry halls and a centre square room. Upstairs had a few rooms and then a railed area that overlooked the dance area. Perhaps with parquet flooring? Had a European feel to it.

Anyone have any idea of the builder? I have looked through my bookmarks and have done MP searches, but can not re-find it.

Help me SL hive mind! :)

Sounds like the Nomad Ballet Academy to me Katherine.

Space sky home. Looking at the moon with Rachel Stardust, who has been working on using EEP for space scenes.

It really would be a tremendous opportunity to showcase EEP too!

  12. I think that space sky homes would be popular with both sci-fi fans and some of the people that prefer to live in skyboxes. It would be an excellent opportunity to have open water or a hilly landscape on the ground level too, as there wouldn't be any need to have completely flat parcels.

As someone that has small space stations regularly over my land, I'd be very happy to see this :)

  13. With your immersion in your sailing, if you don’t actually live in any of your houseboats, then for me, the criteria would be location. It would be great to have a well placed series of ports for you to be able to sail to, with different views and territories on each journey, also being able to have journeys of various lengths too.

Have a look at the map (will be much easier once they fix it) and look to see where houseboats are located and try to get one in each of the areas you would want to sail to/from.

I love being able to travel between my properties. I have a Victorian home extremely well placed next to a rez point railway station and have a camper on the opposite side of the continent. I can drive or take a train to travel between the two, and as the camper is overlooking the ocean too, I can use the rez zone in the region to take to the water. Having amphibious cars is also fun as I’m able to get in and out of the water easily in my camper’s region. I can then make my way to my mainland property in the north east of Sansara.... fun times!

  14. You are most likely aware that all the new Linden Home house types are 1024 sqm apart from the trailers which 512. Make sure you have the full 1024 allowance available when you go looking to get your houseboat as it’s never a good thing to have an additional hurdle in the way when trying to grab a home.

    Good luck! :)

No, they are only fairly minor variations on the same basic style. But, let's be clear about this: it's not the Moles' fault! All creators have their style and they build within the framework they are familar and comfortable with. There are a few multi-stylists who can cover several - perhaps four or five - bases but no pan-stylists who can do everything. You can't do US style if you're born and raised in Europe or Japan, you can't do Japanese style if you're born and raised in USA or Europe, you can't do European style if... etc., etc. Not unless you're willing to spend ages studying and learning a foreign culture that is.

What I would have loved to see in a virtual world, is a large variety of styles created by people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and with smooth, natural transitions between them - that transition is actually far more about where people build than what they build. Just like the Real World. We still have the variety in SL although there seems to be less of it every day but we never had those smooth transitions. I suppose that was always too mcuh to ask for but I can dream, can't I?

Apologies, the term 'theme' is used for each of the different types of home, and that's how they are referred in the Linden Homes sub forum, including by the Linden that's running the project. It would be more accurate if I had stated that the theme is Bellisseria, and that there are currently 5 house choices available, with a 6th pending release and a 7th just revealed. But using the term 'house' makes it seem that there is only 1 design available, when there are in fact 4 - 8 different styles of each house. On the Linden Home page you select the theme of Bellisseria, then select your house choice, and then once you have your parcel you can choose which particular style of that house you wish to rez from the house rezzer. You can change your house style at any point without having to move parcels, unless you want a different house choice. Gets confusing... I can see why the term 'theme' is used 😕

Regardless, the project has been an immense success, and it took me quite a while to get this screen shot to show the terminology, as Bellisseria theme homes are snapped up pretty much as soon as they appear. Abandoned land is only ever there for a handful of minutes.

Perhaps there will be further themes in the future, of the kind you mention. Whether they will be in Bellisseria or their own continent, remains to be seen.
