So they investigated themselves and found no wrong doing. This is my shocked face 😐
At my RL business we did an investigation or 2. One of them nothing happened. Other was one of the vendors who did an illegal install of a proggy on one of office computers and our daughter noticed it right away. We investigated and sent the vendor packing.

Unpopular opinion:
Once this is all sorted out, child avatars can become "OK" again!! I may be bold and even say, some of "us" may get our first child avatars!
Last time I saw a child avatar was one that was part of a virtual band in world. The band leader explained that the virtual band has an RL counterpart which has a 12 year old playing the drums --- so they made an avatar of him to match up with the RL band. The RL 12yo knows of the avatar but does not play it - his pop logs it in just for the shows.

Think it's Linden Lab just covering their you-know-what. A lot of people are so sensitive on things nowadays. As a business owner (a bar) I've noticed how the clientele has changed over the years. I've seen some patrons joking and one threatened a lawsuit on the other. Old times they would laugh it off. Same thing here. The Lab has to deal with much more regulation stuff then when Philip started the Lab eons ago.

Usually when I see a topic that ran off the rails I'll move on. Sometimes it's stuff that best handled in PMs or on another board.
Many of the derailed threads usually get a lock installed on them or even moved to the Bin in the Mod area out of public view.

I mean I am not against Zuck, but also not with him. But then again, I am more against what corpos are doing today. Than the actual companies themselves. IE data farming and selling it to other companies. I wish Canada would adopt a bill, that would stop that from happening.
At least Brad's company instead of Zuck's company got the Lab. Meta would've destroyed us and the Tilia/Thunes payment systems --- plus remove the legs off our toons!

When I recently had my laptop in the shop, the owner mentioned that a large portion of his business is repairing hinges on laptops. He made the same comment as the OP. Use 2 hands, one holding the base in the center and the other opening the top from the center. Just like most anything made, things are pretty much designed to fail. Why is it that there are still refrigerators from the 60s working while we've had to buy 2 in less than 20 years?
I still have an old 60s fridge, non-smart TVs, old school stereos and other goodies. My house is as dumb as it can get and I had family telling me I should get smart speakers and such. Don't want a spy speaker anywhere in the house plus it can't handle SL! Recently a cousin who lives in another country come over and saw my old stereo stuff and said "my phone can do that!" My system sounds better, plus I even have hooked up to the computer so if I'm listening to a performer in world, I tap into his stream and sounds loud and proud!

I don't think I have ever opened a laptop before. But I did have a flip phone at one time.
I still have my flip phone. So when the Lab opens up the app for mobile after all the testing --- it will still not run on the flipper! 😂🤣

This is a game? YT classifies it as one in their category. SL does have some gaming - think Greedy Greedy! 🤣

I meant to say acquired in my post --- but that was before 3 cups of joe!

Also when Linden Lab/Second Life came into being back in 1944, there wasn't all the regulations on the web like we do now. The old wild west of the WWW is long gone.

I reread it on the acquired thing. I forgot forum rules prohibit replying to messages unless one had 3 cups of coffee in them first!

Chatting with one of my relatives who works in the digital business is familiar with Thunes and she said it's good they're teaming up which is needed in this day and age to survive --- especially with financial micro-transactions across many platforms.

On an amateur radio board I'm on --- we have a banned word list posted in the Moderator room. Some of the words are in the mboard's blacklist thing where the words get replaced by *****, and others are handled on a case by case basis. Although unlike this board which belongs to the Lab, ours doesn't not belong to a corporation.

The bonus could be a gift card --- so the person buying it can use it for any item of their choice.

There's probably some back stories on how names are picked.

Would've been funny if we saw this... "10 lucky residents will become Linden staff and will get a long list of items to take care of in world. The list is contained in the 1069 full notecards we sent you. Thank you." haha

I remember that movie a few years back --- People living via surrogates until the main computer got shut down.
I also trust anything from Musk as far I can toss a steamship.

Sl did have verification back then. Other places I had to use my social media but as others had to use cards and Id with it just how it was.
I had a few sites ask for social media --- but I moved since I don't do any of those. Twitch and mboards is as close I get to socials.

Blind random prize variation is no longer allowed. Now it’s basically a vending machine with just one slot of candy available to you. That chocolate bar you crave might happen to be in front and first for sale. But usually it’s 3,5,7 or more deep behind breath mints & gum. Or maybe not even visible. So you might feed the machine hoping the flavor you want eventually comes up. With the hud you won’t get sniped by a fellow shopper watching the same machine for X prize. So mechanically the same but method of operation is different. & as mentioned- many creators just put the entire set out as a fat pack at one price.
Thanks for explaining that!
