I'd take that more seriously if I suspected you knew anything about 'image formats', what format are you a snob about? TIF, TGA, PNG, IFF, Gif 87, GIF 89, BMP, RAW, JPG/JPEG, JPEG2000?

Format doesn't actually matter much as long as it's web capable and lossless.

    The profile feeds use...

PNG, a lossless web optimised format that delivers good quality, so in fact the quality is determined by what settings people CHOOSE to use when TAKING their snaps..

    Hahahahahahahahahaha. You're funny.

If you assume the feeds only have 'tiny square images in horrible quality' it means one of two things, either you never figured out how to navigate to the full sized images or, your smartphone is crippling your web viewing...

Nobody wants to see unedited pics in poor image formats. When you upload any image file into SL, it compresses it and it loses quality. FB does that too. Which is why BOTH SL and FB users use Flickr. I have no idea why you're so hardcore against it. I mean, if anything, you've got people PROMOTING Second Life.

    Sit down.

When the profile feed is working (currently under maintenance the last week or so due to bugs resulting from them updating stuff, as you so often demand), it certainly isn't limited to "tiny square images in horrible quality", don't claim that the inworld profile pic meant to help people remember who they are talking to is SL's answer to social media sites with image galleries, that's just a ridiculous comparison.

Ok, you really need to get off your SL high horse. You may not give a damn about quality but some people actually do. Our profile feeds are utter crap and a pure laughing stock. They are NOT suited for proper photography. Get that through your head right now.

SL content belongs to SL residents. Should LL remove your content from your inventory? LL has no ability to update content either. That's a job for the content creators (who are likely long gone in the case of old items). If you want new & shiny, Sansar's for you (eventually).

There's tons of scripters saying the LSL needs to be badly updated.

In terms of typical daily population, everything from the start of the 2nd Wave Lastnamer influx to the beginning of the 'Rise of the Resident' era, might as well have not happened.

Now, some of SL's bigger problems are Farcebook, "smartfone un-viewers", and 'leet power gamerz' who think of SL as some corporate produced MMO..

Every damn color hud for every hair or clothing item encourages users to close or minimise the sl window and visit Farcebook, Splatter, Fluckr, and all those other "to ignorant and impatient to use a forum" smartfone app websites, where you 'friend' people you have nothing in common with and never speak to.

And when they do log into SL, they do it on an un-viewer designed to run on a phone, that makes SL come across worse than it actually is, and who can't get their heads around the fact that phones just are not up to running things like SL properly.

Then the MMO PowerGamerz (tm) who can't understand why the install for SL is so TINY, wheres the 30 gb of content, why don't the 'devs' update the content, why does it constantly stream stuff. instead of installing to their 128 bit 16 core i11 "in-hell in-side"Berkium CPU Gaming PC with the half terabyte graphics card, and the 150 terabyte SSD! The Gamerz (tm) who can't understand that SL isn't their classic MMOFPS Deathmatch game, and that most of the 'content' is made by players, and that there is too damn much of it to download onto ANY PC ever built.

If you dislike our 'dated content' and ancient scripting system, and the whole 'made for dead people over 30' concept, feel free to depart for a smartfone interface 20 something friendly Farcebook integrated MMOFPS elsewhere.

If SL is sooooooooo 'Last  Decade' LAME, why are you still here?

You do realize that people utilize outside programs because there's nothing of the sort integrated into SL, right? What's the point of taking beautiful images if you're confined to a freaking tiny square with HORRIBLE image quality? Yeah, people gonna use better programs to share their stuff.

Ever been in a busy department store in Oxford St, in London during the Boxing Day Sale?

Then go back in oh, early March...

"Oh Noe! Harridges Department Store, Establisehed 1910, is DYING! Woe! Woe! Wait... HOW much profit did they report last financial year? OMFG! Where can I buy shares!"

Most of the "SL is dying" claims are based almost exclusivly on the fact that during the 2nd Wave Lastnamer influx, 20 odd million people all rushed in, mostly for the wrong reasons, ran around like mad things for a couple of years, then disappointed, rushed out again...

So youre saying that there was zero growth lol

SL has come a very long way in 10 years. A lot of bugs have been fixed. Some that crop up now are because of hidden bombs in the code. The original coders are long gone and there was no documentation left for what they did. When the current coders change something, sometimes it reacts with something they didn't know was buried in the code. It wasn't that long ago when you suddenly couldn't upload anything. The coders found that the code set up to assign UUID's was maxed out on the number it could assign. The original coders had put, what they thought was, an astronomical number that they never thought would be reached...it was. That had to be fixed, which they did quickly.

I personally think that the coders for SL are doing a phenomenal job updating since they are having to work with a base code that is so old that they can't get rid of without breaking a LOT of SL content.

Much of that SL content needs to be either taken out or dramatically updated. Like the LSL...older than dirt that is.

Not completely free.  I don't know what upload charges are, if any, but if you cannot create then you will have to buy whatever is needed to set up your home.

Better to say that everyone can have some land for free at this time.

Home? In sansar? Theres no such thing as a home in sansar. Theres zero object interaction so you can't even sit on a chair.

I am well aware what this forum looks like when accessed on a mobile device as I see exactly that when enlarging the page. A truly responsive design would not shift to that interface on a normal computer, period.

It does not take a genius to figure such a thing out nor does it take one to understand how one's settings should be set for optimum viewing across more than one page.

Have a good day, your attitude will get you nowhere.

@Arkanus Andel just stop using settings and get these...Cj0KCQjwtpDMBRC4ARIsADhz5O4rvBd4joqMhxp5ZuYNhR0PB3i7kc0043O3vfz6ey1OsS5FdgeuU6caAtlsEALw_wcB

If you're using accessibility then yes it will and it's working as intended BECAUSE you're EXPANDING the page. Deal with it. As I said, you have zero understanding of how it works.

Yes, let's enlarge the font size using the in web browser settings. Oh wait, that is a global setting and should be set based on an average of the pages one visits. Care to guess which one is the oddball there?

"Desktop View" does not exist. The forum does not have separate viewing modes which respond to the device accessing the page.

To close this: I am quite well aware of what options exist and how to use them. As I said in my last response, if the forum really was designed to be "responsive" then it would be redirecting mobile users to a setup that is designed for their device.

    That's responsive design, genius.

On second thought. I don't have any personal experience with this of course, but in theory, if I was ever to get involved in couple animations of the more intimate kind, I would probably prefer if there were some balls in it somewhere. Not Bento ones though.

Can you just stay on topic ONCE? lmao

It seems to have gone right over your head that I am in fact using a normal computer to access and use this forum. A truly responsive design would notice that a user is not using a mobile device and cease swapping to such an interface when the user enlarges/zooms.

What is your reasoning for placing Log In/Out, Notifications and Messages in the hamburger menu as opposed to somewhere on the main areas? If it is for no reason beyond what you call reducing clutter then honestly all I can say to that is that such is your opinion.

Then what in the bloody hell are you complaining about then if you're using desktop view? Unless you're using accessibility in windows...just enlarge the font size then not the whole page. If you want help with that, I'll help ya.

And the reason for not placing the login/logout button is that with this design, there's no room and adding a simple text option...well, YOU probably wouldn't be able to see it lol

  14. 17 minutes ago, Arkanus Andel said:

Enlarging the page/zooming in is second nature at this point as it is something I have to do even for pages with a larger font size. It is a secondary gripe.

Device responsiveness is a wordier way of saying that web designers are catering to those who almost never view web content on anything other than a smartphone or tablet. If I wanted to see a mobile interface while using this forum I would use a smartphone or tablet.

As for hamburger menus vs. drop down boxes: A drop down box would have been preferable as there is this trend where page designers try and cram everything they can into the hamburger. This does not reduce clutter at all, it simply shifts it to a pop in menu.

Log in/Log Out, Mark Forum Read, Account options, Notifications and Messages really shouldn't be in there as an example though your mileage may vary.

Responsive design simply scales the site to match the screen size of whatever device you're using. The solution to your problem would be desktop so just use that.

And sign in/log out should def go in the hamburger menu for responsive forums along with activity. I get notifications and it's easy for me to keep track of everything. Don't know why you're having difficult honestly. Simply tap the menu. It's not hard.

Again I have no idea what stores you've been visiting nor what items you've been running a search for but I have yet to run into such a thing. No building, clothing item, avatar modification/part or complete avatar could contain enough variations for over 50 pages of 'the same thing' at 96 items a page.

Tagging an item with several terms also has little effect outside of making that item appear in searches that include those terms. It does not cause the items to show up more than once in the same search.

What is wrong with how the forum looks you ask? It is designed for mobile devices and requires anyone with sight issues to enlarge the page/zoom in to even begin to read it, all the while the interface elements are shifted around or removed and placed into one of those awful hamburger menus.

Almost every site on the internet is designed for device responsiveness and nearly all of them use the same font size so I have no idea why you're complaining. If it's that much of an issue for you then don't get on the internet. And hamburger menus are designed for less clutter. I suppose they could have used a drop down menu but a hamburger menu is literally the same thing.

Btw, I'm sure most people spotted the flaws in my description right away. Terribly sorry about that, I guess I wasn't trying hard enough either. This is how a *proper* SL delivery system should be:

    1. Buy item on MP
    2. Wear the HUD you get delivered
    3. Click on the "Your HUD is likely to affect your performance negatively" alert
    4. Click on HUD
    5. Accept the folder it gives you
    6. Wear the box in the folder
    7. Try to click on it through the cloud of funny particles it emits
    8. Discover that you can't transfer no copy items from a worn object to inventory
    9. Detach box
    10. Rez box
    11. Discover that the box is scripted to autodelete when rezzed
    12. Repeat #1-5
    13. Go to a no script sandbox
    14. Rez the new box there
    15. Move the updater to your inventory
    16. Go back to a place where you can run scripts
    17. Rez the updater
    18. Wait two minutes while the updater does ... something
    19. Click on the link the updater eventually posts in local chat
    20. Copy the order confirmation code and the product activation code on the web page you are taken to and click on the SLURL to the store there
    21. Go to the store
    22. Click on the landmark giver by the "We have moved" sign to get a landmark to the big plaza outside the new store
    23. Use landmark
    24. Figure out which of the four buidlings around the plaza is the one you are looking for
    25. Walk to that store (it's a no flying zone with a fixed tp entry point so walking is the only option)
    26. Find the Product Delivery Terminal (it's on the sixth floor, in the notertheast corner, as far away from the staircase as possible and behind that cool fully transparent wall)
    27. Click on Product Delivery Terminal
    28. Type order confirmation code on channel /666
    29. Accept the box the terminal gives you
    30. Go home
    31. Rez box
    32. Try to click on the box through the cloud of funny particles it emits
    33. Accept the folder with the piece of clothing and the activator
    34. Wear the (untextured) piece of clothing
    35. Rez activator
    36. Wait three minutes while the activator does ... something
    37. Type the activation code on channel /666
    38. Watch as the activator adds a texture to the piece of clothing.

Did I get it all this time or did I still miss a few steps?

If the activator fails, repeat steps 1-38

  17. Now I want to be a gacha reseller of the most ultra rares that nobody can find anymore and make it as annoying as possible for people to obtain the product.

a HUD you have to wear to get a box you have to open to get a folder with an updater you have to rez to get the URL to the website where you can enter a code to get a box with another code and landmark to the inworld store where you can get the outfit by entering the other code into the delivery thingy.

I would call my store SuperRawr Prankster.

That's because they're not trying hard enough.

And theres probably a store that does that.
