  1. *Ahem* I am old enough to remember that the "Internet" began as ARPANet, and in fact I first used it during the transition when Universities had BITNet for communicating between each other's mainframes. What a long way we have come from a NATIONAL DEFENSE DEVELOPED NETWORK (lookup ARPA or ARPANet) system to something we use every day for every purpose.

In the use, matters of health, education and welfare are left to the prerogative of the states, not the federal government, due to widely differing levels of affluence and political views in every state. And so the issue of "the Internet" might get the same treatment, despite calls for it (improperly) being viewed as "like" a federal highway system.

Does this mean "in the U.S./USA"?

/me pokes her finger in the circle.

I remember this game from my brothers.

"Kanchō (カンチョー) is a prank performed by clasping the hands together in the shape of an imaginary gun and attempting to poke an unsuspecting victim's anus, often while exclaiming "Kan-CHO!".[1] It is common prank among children in East Asian countries such as Japan,[2] Korea, and Taiwan."

Rule of thumb, both RL and SL:  Any question of this kind that you ask yourself with the words, "Is it cheating....", the answer is always "Yes."

It is not cheating if you are in an "open relationship" with an agreement to not tell each other about your adventures outside the relationship. Lot of "ifs" and preconditions.

Second life is one of the most creative social platforms ever created, of course with the exception of sansar, a project that promises to be better than the old one although it is still very restricted, due to the fact that it has not yet been supported by all!

Is this the opening of a book report, or a Wikipedia entry?

I feel as if the sl for being very old, and have several creators, it has kind of gotten into conflict, for lack of general updating!

I feel as mayhaps the internal conflict for you is due to the writing of the sentences non-English!  Perchance to attempt using software the translation in future.  Thanks you.

We ought to start a convention where op means the original post, and OP means the original poster. The poster being capitalised because it refers to a name, and names are capitalised.

No. If you cannot make your meaning clear, and the OP takes it personally when you really are talking about the post and not the OP, then either your communication skills are sub-par, or they are a snowflake.

  9. Just in case your problem is literally with "touching" your HUD:  Unless you have a touchscreen computer, use your mouse to click your HUD, you don't actually "touch" the screen with your finger.

  10. The "black square box" you see popup may actually be part of YOUR anti-virus software.

YOUR anti-virus software may THINK that SL (or some part of SL) is a virus.  That does not mean that SL actually is, however.

Many of us had to add Second Life to the "white list" (ok to run) for our anti-virus software.  This is especially true because Second Life installs a new version automatically when you run it sometimes - and the anti-virus software detects this.

Perhaps someone else would be able to help calm your fears, if they have the same anti-virus software and same experience as you - before they added Second Life as a "safe" program to their anti-virus software.

there would be no *private* ownership of ISP's at all anymore. Internet and telephone would all be nationalized and tax-paid - ergo available to everyone, and free of extra charge.

Good luck getting innovation with Gummint-run services and no competition.
