I understand. It's the content creators and the adult platforms that supported them have been removed/banned from payment processing because VISA et al do not want to be seen as supporting the creation and dissemination of adult content.

VISA doesn't care if you buy something from Lovense online, they do care if they are acting as a payment gateway for people who make or facilitate the distribution of adult content like porn such as videos, fan subscriptions, etc. My point has always been that when anyone actually looks in here and sees what can go on, that's when the flags might go up.

Tips in Lindens to sex workers and for access to the harder edged stuff that is available (even virtual ones in SL) are bought through payment processors who may (may) decide they want nothing to do with that.

I'm waiting and seeing. Who knows what some corporate PR/legal/C-level team will decide.

This is a surprise, I was only aware of "illegal" things like drugs, being blocked from banks and payment processors.

What I remember hearing is that he tries to do like a trade off with things.. where they may have to charge more for one thing, he tries to decrease somewhere else..

I think it was something like when they gave an increase in memberships, but a decrease in land or something like that..

It's the part where he was talking about charging a dollar for five dollars of value.. Around that area.. hehehe

I'm still processing a lot of it so it's a bit scattered still in my head.. I'll probably have to watch it again.. But I will say, I wish they would have did this with the other lab gab or instead of the other, because I feel much more relaxed about things now..

They should let us in on something like this, before we hear it from the streets first.. hehehe

I gave up some sweet Beliss spots!! \o/

    lol

I'll go back and "close listen" more again and even transcribe if I get curious enough. I just liked his attitude. I am mostly soothed and reassured.

Those who are still negative Nellies just weren't listening!!!!1!111!

I had been thinking earlier how LL has kind of had a string of those where they try to branch out, Patterns game under Rod and I vaguely recall a gaming platform and a couple other little things they sold/let go of that LL were working on, then Sansar of course under Ebbe too (could probably count Philip's side projects as well, fairly or not)

Sometimes, people (and companies) give up instead of "fully committing".

There's one point with which I once would have agreed: "2) It protects the creation from getting broken". When I was just starting out scripting, I couldn't figure out how to let customers adjust the size and shape of a prim assembly (yeah, all prims back then) while preserving geometric invariants to keep the assembly looking reasonable while the script was running. I think I'd know what to do now, so I could give that object Modify permission, but for other objects and for less experienced scripters, I could excuse having to resort to no-mod objects.

I made that point (#2) too!

  5. Some transcript for you:

Strawberry, ending at 0:54: "..We've already had lots of questions from the community. I've looked through several platforms to pull out some of the most common ones, and as of this recording there were about 16 pages on our official Forums alone.."

    Yay! That's us!!!

Oberwolf, ending at 4:31: "..Well Tilia is pretty expensive to run, and if we could distribute that expense across multiple companies, that would make it less expensive for us to run it at a time where it was costing us millions and millions of dollars to run it.

That didn't work. Tilia wasn't overly successful in bringing on these other clients, and so effectively while it brought some on, they're not doing a ton of business and so Tilia was back to having Second Life as its only customer.  Back, thinking about that again, that detracts from Second Life because money that Linden makes was going to go into Tilia.

And so, I was left with this decision: Do I want to control Tilia and have a lot of money that could otherwise go into Second Life, or could we find someone to acquire Tilia under some guidelines and take on that expense, because they would be able to make it profitable.."

  6. I suppose I heard Oberwolf's statement - paraphrased, that the cost of the product / exchange should not "go up" just like, if the place you buy your coffee changes their credit card processor (from "square" in the example), the cost of your coffee would not go up.

And when I heard that, to me it meant "costs will not go up just because of the change".

I GOTTA start using more than 2 brain cells to listen.

I am not surprised.  You might want to look at Qie's rough transcription of what Oberwolf said, above.  Seems we both heard the same thing.  I was not quoting Oberwolf exactly, of course.  Summarizing  comments is something reporters also do.

Sid already confirmed, so I believe you. I was probably listening more to his overall "attitude" and "tone" and missed some actual "words". Funny how that happens.

Restarted: He seemed "positive" overall and it just seemed a negative statement at odds with how I perceived what was said. 🙂

Yeah, I'd have to watch again to catch this part. Not sure I care that much, since I'm barely impacted. Plus, "it could change".

He was pretty much beating around the bush when Strawberry asked about possible increasing costs and fees IMHO.
The next years will give the answers.

That's a shame, because they could have "baked into the deal" some stable costs which LL could use as a sweetener with users.

I thought I DID see something in the summary, or elsewhere in/around the video related to either "lower costs" or something..maybe I need to use more than 2 brain cells when listening.

    1. Earlier in this thread we were reminded that VRChat signed up as a Tilia customer, but per Oberwolf, Tilia was apparently back down to just SL as its sole customer. Some messy transcription:

(Could just be rhetorical rounding error though, because VRChat still talks about Tilia in its ToS.)

    2. About Oberwolf's "doubling-down" on SL. I think it's helpful to hear him present the hopeful side of M&A. In the case of Tilia, it turns a big liability on the Linden balance sheet into, for Thunes, a real asset: money transmitter licensing in the US.

The thing is, if ever there's a Thunes-equivalent for Second Life—another venture that can make SL more valuable for their business than it is as a standalone company—that would likely be for the best, even though it would mean change. I'm not arguing they should sell the place and it's just a nice vibe that he's so enthusiastic about extending its success, I'm just saying businesses don't do M&A to screw over customers.

    3. Did I miss mention of Adult content? (I was multi-tasking so I could have spaced it off.)

It took me minute to figure out, "M&A"="Merges and Acquisitions".

Agree on #3. Although I listened with only 1 ear and 2 brain cells, I didn't hear it either.

If you want to use autoreturn, you'll need to make sure that your alt and you are in a land group together, that everything on the parcel is set to the land group, and then the parcel itself can be set to the land group as well.

54 minutes ago, Sylvia Tamalyn said:

(You can also deed or sell the land to the land group if you first donate sufficient land allowance to the group, and you'll get use of a 10% group bonus, but that's a bit beyond what you are asking about here.)

I was thinking of these steps too, basically form a land group, set all objects to the group, deed the land to the group, make sure the Alt is a "Group Owner".  (Maybe not in that owner.)  Then there's no reason to "sell" the land, and all the objects stay even if otherwise they could cause issues..   Then there is no reason to "sell" the land to the Alt, and the objects "stay" with the land.

    Me talk good one day.
