Today's pet peeve:  Creators that give demos textured in just a plain pattern with the words demo on it.

Not quite as bad, but similar... when they add mesh attachment demos with complex curly letters. No idea of complexity! Or a circle that goes around your whole head and blocks the view of the hair you are trying.

What can I do to stop the attack?

First of all don't panic. Nothing can hurt you no matter what happens to your pixels, ultimately they are just pixels.

If the owner of the object is the owner of the land, then it's time to find a new region to enjoy. If not, then waiting 4-5 hours should clear you from the object's memory, especially if there is auto return. Even so, you might decide to find a new place anyway! There is a lot to see and do in SL.

While you wait, take a look at some pretty christmas regions :)

  3. You did well :)

    • 8:1 body
    • shoulders same as head
    • Your hips are a little narrow - although this is an ideal for Aesthetic - and they are not overly narrow. It's artistic.
    • Your arms are really short, I'd say 1 head too short in fact, but it needs a proper prim measurement.
    • Your hands and feet look like they could be correctly sized too, although I can't see 100% to be sure.

I guess, he is ~240 centimeters (7'11") measured with a prim?

    Abcity, definitely :D

I can't even express how terribly I feel for that girl, both because she's going to be teased by others her entire life(not excusing it, just a fact), and she's saddled with a pretty crappy mom.

    It's a thing though...

    Quote

There are, at minimum 373 women and girls named Abcde in the US.

    ...

Abcde first entered the federal records in 1990, when five newborn girls were given the name.

    ...

The Bush administration was the golden age of Abcde, jumping from just a handful of Abcdes at the beginning to more than two dozen a year by the end. The high-water mark for Abcde was 2009, when 32 babies were named the first five letters of the alphabet.

Angled head down makes it too hard to see. If you throw it on a pose stand with the camera straight ahead, head to toe visible, arms at the side then proportions can be seen properly.

I won't offend you with a critique, as it's what you like.

I am sure the people making them enjoyed it, the rest of us just went meh and didnt bother visiting

Some of us visit them. Load, look around for 2 minutes, leave. Meh.

A creative person might well be spurred into making their own, but at this point, there isn't much of a compelling purpose for the audience.

From what I know of building clubs in SL, it's no fun if you build it and nobody comes. The novelty wears off. And as much as you say "I am just building it for myself, for my fun" the visitor counter is still a huge dompamine hit.

They just did Project Pewpew which will apparently allow people to make shooting type games. Will these turn into something that gets an audience? That will be an interesting thing to watch in a few months.

    Well, I don't get it?  It's modifiable, isn't it?

Modifyable to a point. Both the Aesthetic and Gianni to an extent have very large biceps.

This means that even if you set the torso thickness sliders to 0 there is still a remnant shape. And of course this means you need a certain shoulder width to balance it. And a certain shoulder width means you need a certain height.

The Aesthetic shape is mod, but the proprtions of the mesh means it really doesn't work unless you aim for the look towards what is in that drawing. It needs to be close to 3 meters tall to balance the biceps, and this means that the head ends up too small, even at 100 size it's going to be a pea-sized head.

When I looked that person up - THEY DID NOT EXIST!

Yes, either self deletion or ban, as I said back here:

Or are they no longer in search? If so there are two reasons: One is they have deleted their avatar.

If it is a ban, you will never know what it was for (unless they sneak back in and tell you), but there are not so many activities that lead to permament bans. Stuff like extreme threats, ongoing harrasment do, and a few abhorent sexual practices will as well. Fraud is another, as is trying to cash out lindens, and not being able to verify your identity.

I prefer to think the people self-delete then to think bad of them.

I like this suggestion. Too bad this isn't what the lab decided to do rather than making a gacha category.

I think this was back on page 1 or 2. It's been mentioned a lot in other threads too.

The Gatcha category is just weird. In a way it's just as weird as the Furry category. I don't get the prupose of either of these.

I know there's lots of stuff out there with much lower LI but most of them have LOD issues. :)

I think that's the big one. This cabin is pretty good for madlands and doesn't break up into a pile of triangles.

The LODs have been properly made with a view distance of more then 500metres at the FS 2.0 and over 300 metres at the LL 1,5.

There are a lot of details that decay to lower LODs real nice.

90LI and breaks up or 100LI and doesn't?

For the simple reason that a few years ago (about 5) the services being used to translate went from free to pay. That pretty much killed the FS translation because most people weren't willing to pay for something that had been free for years and years.

Shrug?  Just because it went pay doesn't invalidate my wish that it hooked into IMs.

And yes, I understand the devs have better things... but you will see my statement was...

    Highlighting a critical word there.

As far as cost.. it's worked out to US$8.00 a month for me, and I have $400 of credit to play with. When that $400 free money runs out I will just start another email address for another $400 and keep going.

Oh and naked guys wandering around deserted sims.......that's just irritating.

The naked girls wandering around regions are just as annoying, and just as common. Just the naked girls will hang around beaches, while the naked guys will hang around infohubs.

Worse are the naked girls who come into my club - clearly tagged as "Male avatars only please". They clearly think this doesn't include their oversized boobs.

The little-world virtual world systems have failed. It's not just Sansar. They all have concurrent user counts in 2 digits. Second Life has about 40,000 users. So, on the evidence, big world wins.

But, are there other factors at play here?

Back in 2006 there was huge press about Anshe making millions. So many people invaded SL with dollar signs in their eyes. It was a gold rush. A lot left from the peak when they worked out that they wouldn't strike it rich, but out of those, a large number stayed, and still remains.

Ask youself this simple question to likely invalidate your "big world" hypothesis: If SL released today, would we be at 40K user concurrency (20K of those being bots)?

There needs to be a critical number of people in a game, or it feels empty. Without the Anshe goldrush SL would have never reached it.

The Lab still doesn't have a viable PR team.

Sitting on things randomly, at random places, mostly things one wouldn't normally sit on. In my early days, this was particularly fun to do with groups of friends, zoos and aquariums were some of our favorite places.

I do that, it can be a lot of fun!

See a nice photo sim, check if any of the animals, houses, trees are sittable. Sometimes a little chicken or weasel or crab can be sat on, mostly not.

On the other side, I tend to put hidden poses inside weird things (especially statues) on my own land just in case people ever try sitting on them.

  15. Someone is using this place as a bot home, or in the list of home points that their bots can use.

There are applications like Corrade that you can run on your computer that let you log in an alt as a bot. The bot isn't driven by a person at a keyboard, it's driven by a program.

They are used as 24/7 group invitors, or to see who is on a particular region, or maybe to gather statistics on what regions have been bought and sold by people. Some are used improperly to increase traffic, or make a club look busy. Some are used to try and earn money from vault games.

When they are not actively teleporting to gather their statistics they normally go to a set home position. Or if that position is offline a secondary one.

They are mostly benign. They cannot take photos or see, as there is no screen attached to the bot. But they do capture and log chat and can record the names of people around them and what those people are wearing.

    Hello everyone,

I have a friend speaking different language than me. We use translator when we are near by in near-by chats but its a great pain when we have a long conversation in IMs without in-world translator. Any suggestion for translator I can use for IMs too? What I do for now is copy her text, paste it in google translator and copy-paste back in my IMs.

    Thank you

I do the same, slow and painful.

As far as I know copy/paste is the only way for IMs. HUDs would never be able to see the contents of IM's it's impossible, and the inbuilt translation system of Firestorm has not been extended into IMs or Group chat.

I really wish the Firestorm Translation API was coded to work in IMs too!

I hate that. Even at 1,82metres one is still accused of being a child by the 3 meter people
