I did not say that I wasn't from Mars.

We must remember that the opposition and the Media always spread lies about the opponent's.

After all, Bill Clinton "did not have sex with that woman.'

I can only hope it will be reversed in time. I think last names were an important step in creating your own unique avatar... mine means a lot to me. I know many people in the day who would create alt just to save a cool last name. Seeing people running around with Resident for a last name just makes the world feel more cold.

Yes it does. I have discussed this with a few of my close friends who have last names. In the minds of some people It almost creates a class distinction, to others it is of no great import.

For myself the whole signing up process was poorly explained, finding my RL name was impossible, so I had to compromise. If you sign up for flickr for example, it is explained in big bold writing that the name you choose is permanent. This might have been corrected by LL subsequent to my sign up, but I am not sure, having not used it in some time.

I am quite happy with the display name feature, most people call me by my display name, and being able to change it is an advantage. While I would be prepared to pay to change it, I can live with it as it stands. My friends all know my RL name anyway and life is too short to worry what the haters think, so its a bit of a moot point.

Nice thread, learned a bit, thanks :)

  5. /me puts my marketing hat on

Hard to give advice about marketing when the product(s) is not on the table as it were. Unless your product has a USP that would drive people within SL to your store, a normal website would probably achieve better results. The audience footprint of the navigable internet is far larger than SL ever will be. Your marketing RL should be focused in a budget sensitive way to lift your profile. There are various methods to do this quite cheaply with various search engines. If your effort to market within SL is just augmenting your existing marketing drives then it may be worth pursuing,  You might get a few sales, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Good luck :)

  6. Sorry If I got your name wrong, happens

As far as my reply to you is concerned, read what I said...carefully. Did I not tell you that your generalization of all females as being as you described wrong?..thats my point...period

  7. Like I ended my last post, good luck, It was not an attack, but a correction. You have issues, well you are not alone.  And don't assume or generalize, it will only get you in trouble eventually. Hope you have fun and this will be my last post, don't want to derail this thread.

Oh yes and I spelt your name as it is shown here

Here is how I wrote it

    How is that wrong?

    Have fun :)

  8. Kaiden, when you are too close to something, you lack perspective. Step back and think for a while. Are all woman like you say?..no they aren't. You have a personal problem and what you need is real support and help. While you might find some support for your problem in SL, ultimately the answer lies in RL.

And as for geeky guys not being understood, well who is? Do you understand completely how anyone else feels? Probably not, its about perceptions and reality and how when you confuse them you can make bad choices. Good luck to you, I hope it all turns out ok

i also aim to start a dating service that doesn't tthrive off of the sex life or the use of hormones for attention.... i've been through it enough rl and sl to just honestly be over it all, females are getting to have their fun do what they want and still want to blame the guy for the stuff that happens out of his control... guys are getting fed up with being the pawn and having to deal with the girly emotional drama..... sooooo i figure it's time to use intellegence to really bring people together

You need to be objective and write about your own situation. Generalizations don't help. They never do. I know both men and women that are too emotional and dramatic.  I do not know you, however your statement is biased because it takes two to tango. You think that women have it easy?

still want to blame the guy for the stuff that happens out of his control...

This is a a cop out, some men love to tell us how important and in control they are, but when the wheels fall off, they point everywhere else but at themselves. You want to know what she was really saying? She was asking you what are you going to do to fix it with her and yourself  how you would have done things if you had another chance, you see that's her opening to engaging you. You throwing up your hands is the exact wrong answer, she is looking for strength of character not surrender. The strongest men I know will freely admit when they are wrong and will no feel less about themselves for admitting it, and do what's necessary to fix it. We are, after all, just people with human frailties, nobody is perfect, not you, not me and no-one on these forums.

  10. Staring at the blinking cursor, I have nothing to say.

    Maybe it was my mistake
Could it be that I'm the one to blame?
    You've broken all the pieces
Why don't you throw the rest away?
And you cry like a baby
Fly like a bird, I'll shoot you down
And yet no one can save me
    Cause I only disappear here

Wait I'm in the wrong house
    I'm in the wrong room
Some place in someone else's shoes
    I wanna turn back
    I wanna shut down
I'll blow away if I breathe out
    Save me from sleeping now
    Save me from flying out
    And disappear here
    Disappear here

I have been your guilty pleasure
I've been your lack of restraint
    Apply the perfect pressure
    To your sweet subordinate
    So go into your spiral
    Gently you're winding me down
    So I figure I'm falling
    Into the fallout

Wait I'm in the wrong house
    I'm in the wrong room
Some place in someone else's shoes
    I wanna turn back
    I wanna shut down
You'll blow away if I breathe out
    Save me from sleeping now
    Save me from flying out
    And disappear here
    Disappear here

    Broken, torn, insincere

    Can I watch
    As you disappear here?

  11. Perhaps a bit flashy in gold, I like the black and white and the the fall and length. The cowl neck is a nice-to-have but I understand its probably difficult to make, even with mesh.

The Maitreya is sexy, I like the detailing and the length again, colours are gorgeous as well.

The ISON is simple and elegant, graceful lines, lovely colour. The neckline its just what I had in mind.

    Thank you Charolotte you're a star :)

  12. I am looking for something similar to this dress with good detialing, a cowl neck collar and simple fall right down to the floor. I think it might have to be mesh but perhaps not. Any ideas? cant seem to find anything on MP that I like.

  13. You're welcome to your opinions, certainly. However, before you burst a blood vessel, consider those of us who have zero experience with games and tried SL first. That first name choice seems so arbitrary when faced with it for the first time.

As a good friend of mine who has a last name told me it seems on some levels to have created two classes of resident.

  14. *points at the name to the left. I remember sitting at the entry portal and trying endless variations of my name before settling on mine, 36 refers to my birthdate. I am pretty sure their others out their that have had similar experiences.

Given the chance I would happily pay to change it.

But stuck with it I guess, close enough to my RL *shrugs

Thank God for display names :)

    ETA

    Month/day not year Lol

  15. Perhaps Jean, I take your point. However mainstream Gor SL is pretty much medieval in nature, and design, in fact a lot of the builds are interchangeable with other medieval themes. The point is, The OP was commenting on Artistic content and sim design falls into that category by its very nature. Like I said I found the sims beautiful and authentic, such as the books describe everyday life in Gor.

My point is go look and see the beautiful sims for yourself and perhaps appreciate the wonder that is SL sim design. It really is an artform all its own.

You might be surprised by what you find in Gor, some of the most esthetically pleasing and beautiful sims in SL are in Gor. I know a few who spend most of their free time and an awful amount of money creating sims that are very realistic and authenticity medieval. That's not even starting on the fashion and other items that have been created to make it as authentic and beautiful as possible.

Most of the people who own sims pay full tier for a sim that stands empty most of the time yet they still derive a lot of joy from their work in creating. There are something like 350 Gor sims so you can begin to appreciate the amount of creative beauty you are tossing away. Give it a try, you can go anywhere as an observer you dont have to participate and most sim owners would be more than happy to share with you. Gorean SLers are people to :)

  17. Yes, hard as rock, as deep as the ocean, and I don't take BS from anyone You know I had some sympathy for your post about the ships, but your behavior is like the little boy that cried wolf too many times. When you finally had a real post I wasn't bothered to read it. And um seriously guy, you need to go get your meds checked.

  18. You know I was holding back, telling myself, don't, don't don't comment, but seriously? I mean for real? The person who created it has posted this kind of conspiricy theory stuff before. I wonder what will be next, we have had the end ot the world, death by asteroid if you will, and now world war..next week it will probably be the aliens landing or something. SL is fantastic, but lets not lose touch with reality here.

Post away by all means :)  , have fun.
