[New to SL...got an email to visit...but can't teleport anywhere (searched KB first)]

the answer is normally in the KB that were we look for our answers but do not like to tell new comer.

log into the game and press  Control and F that will open the SL search.

type into it the place you wish to visit.

there Star Trek here and Dr Who, lot of city's London Berlin and Russian Sims french Sims they are all here.

open the viewer and at the bottom you see a box with the words log at my last location, or some thing like that.

click on the words and type into it pooley or a sim you know, then check you avatar name is right and type in the pass word again and log in

[Ok if someone transfers you something you never asked for]

Unless it was a gift, that you thank him for so as to let him know you believe it so, and he did not tell you different.

its a grift.

however if you keep it, things can roll over and people you like may find they have to take side.

and soon or later it will trun to grifting.

I would give it back as this will show my frients that I am alright, and tell your friends he give things and take them back.

you may find him giving it back to you again, so as to shown to people that he is OK and we all make misstake.

[Are computers at hacking risk when we are on SL?]

hey once they land on a sim its easy to find people using the map or mini map and that how they can teleport to you. they can also cam you from one sim to the next and by clicking on the ground next to you they can teleport to you.

its how I was able to keep a eye on the grifer at help island.

the system can be used for good or bad, but most ARs about grifing by me were done bye people calling me and telling me they were being grifed and I just cam into the sim and reported it and told the grifer that he or she was reported.

this normally stop them grifeing the kid and they just started on me.

however lots were sorted by the ARs I send, so if he is following you, this can be harassment and is reportable.

so just AR him each time, and the ARs will add up and Lindens will act.

a key logger can only like a hacker get in to your computer by giving you a object in game or you clicking on a link to a unsafe web site, also friend ship offer are a way to get into you computer, lots of people do not take friends ship offer from new comer in game.

[how do i put my close back on?]

Hi

Press once in game  Control and I, this will open the inventroy.

you see Outfits in there and at the bottom there library and in there you find lots more avatar outfits to pick from.

open the folder that you like to wear and click on each item in it and pick wear from the menu.

this will load the outfit

if you have just been shopping, and have it in the inventroy, again open the folder and you see the icons

click on it and pick wear, its that easy.

but best to read the Knowledge base top of this page.

open the Knowledge base Tab and check out the section

[when i use voice chat it spams the text talk.]

Hi

if you are using voice, normally its set so you press the centre mouse button and speck into the mic and releases to stop and listen.

press contorl and P for the preferances options and check that the voice is set up that way or change it to suit you.

you do not type, if this is happening go to a new sim and try again, if its ok and working fine, someone is using a scripte to mess with voice.

if that so best to stay off that sim until lindens have sorted it out.

[Unable to test/preview mesh texture]

hi

you may need to up load the textures to SL before you can use it.

personlly I do my textures on the computer and once finish, then its ready for upload.

but check out the blender classes in SL

or ask in the blender group.

to find them use the SL seacrh   ( control and F )

the people in the blender groups are always working with the new mesh and the classes are great.

lots of support for blender in game last time I was on-line

[I can not log in with any of my accounts. The log in gets stuck at waiting for region handshake.]

secondlife need a good connections, some times if my internet slow i use a wire from my computer to the hub.

but normally a shut down of the hub and wait 5 mins before restart clear the hub and the connection is improve.

also you could log into a different sim, open the viewer and look for the box that say log on at last location.

click on the words and type Pooley or London, or even Paris.

then log into the game, it maybe that the sim is down that you trying to log into.

[What will be the changes in second life 2015 ?]

hi

yes there will be change

but it will be the graphics side of SL

and may even move to a 3D SL, this will mean that lots of people will be unable to log on, as a more powerful computer will be needed.

personally I hope SL stay on track and deal with the rules in game as so much change is needed there and the control of scripting within game.

so many people log into the game and find they do not like it due to the lag and attacks.

this is a international game, and need real time laws.

two of my computer have been burn out by attacks using scripting on me, and there no support or redress.

the last computer was so badly attack it to slow to be use for SL

over heating of hardware due the lagging of sim, need attentions

yes things have to change or Sl will die

as that hopefully will stay 2D for us less able, who live on low incomes.

Im told that lindens do not collect taxes.

so its follow you do not have to, Im buying all the time and not charge taxes.

[I just created my avatar but it will not load the body parts and clothes]

your Avatar maybe a mesh avatar, and you not set you see mesh.

you can try a new avatar, best to go to the inventory, press control and I

that will open the inventory and at the bottom you will see the library open that and search there for a new avatar there lots in there to pick from.

once you choose one just click on it to open and click on each icon and pick wear and it with load that avatar

however if you get a message saying item not downloaded or inventory not downloaded.

its your caches file not downloading to the computer, and may need more time to download it can take up to 20 mins on a slow computer.

to improve your connection you could use a wire from the hub to the computer if you are using wireless this may be to slow.

the wire will improve the connection.

or top of the page you will see the knowledge base tab click that to open it and

page 2 you find a section about improving your viewer.

read up there look for the setting for mesh.

your inventory is store at linden lab so it not all lost and can be reinstated.

top of this page is the Knowledge base tab, click to open it, and type into the search

inventory you see a drop down menu with inventory options to check out.

you need to do a clean install of the viewer.

top of this page you will see the Knowlegde base Tab open that and type into the search box,

How to install and uninstall secondlife, from the drop down menu you will see it.

just click on the word they are the link for the right page you need to read up on how to reinstall second life with a full clean install.

you can change your display name but once done you can not change it again for a set time

so you can not change it once you set it

and have to wait until you are allow to change it again.

so made sure it what you like display.

as you can only do it once and have to wait to rechange it

you need to reload your avatar.

open the inventory once you are on line, press control and I for the inventory.

at the bottom you see the library

open it and you find lots of avatars,

just open one and you see lots of icons

click on each one until they are all high lighted, or say they are wearing item.

make sure the hair base is loaded and the shape.

[How do I get a green screen]

hi

go to a sand box ( press control and F for the SL search, type into it sand box or razz area ).

now you need to razz a object, once you done that

resize it to meet your needs

and textures it the color you would like

if however you do not know how to do that

type into the search Help at Caledon

there is a tutorial there, and helper that will give you the support you need

you will also find a sand box at Caledon.

once at a sand box I normally click on the ground and pick edit, for the option to make a object, and work from that

the format of sound to use

top of the page you will see a tab, call knowledge base

click that and type into the search box, uploading assets

and from the drop down menu, pick sound, there you can read up on what you need to know and its what lindens have to say on sound uploads

remember you use a mic ( Voice) to make your avatar speak, so to record him or her you use a sound recorder, and sound software to pick the format.

same times the helper do not give all the information need to help you

if you are using linux

you need to load the Graphics driver, or the viewer will not load SL

first you need to tell us what linux you are using

if you are using window

again check the graphics driver are loaded,

or use the knowledge base top of the page.

click the knowledge base tab and type into the search

from the drop down menu pick  Graphic Card.

click on the words to open the link

and from that page you find the section to pick graphic card driver to suit your computer.
