  1. An advertisement for this web service just popped-up on Facebook's Second Life Group - I suspect it is a scam to obtain SL account information. Does Linden Labs KNOW anything about this? I have seen no notices of it posted. Hello there 👋 After long time of research, development and negotiations with Linden Lab our famous SmartBots team can proudly introduce the beta version of first-ever 100% web & mobile-friendly Viewer: https://speedlight.me 🙏 SpeedLight is a professional commercial Second Life viewer: 100% browser-based, no downloads required 100% mobile and tablet ready Allows switching between devices without logging out Allows keeping avatar online 24/7 IM history always available (even offline) We've launched just recently, so more functions will be added overtime, such as 3D World View (Yes, you will be able to see SL from a browser!) and much more. Check it out & try it out 😊
  2. 64 here, artist, designer, builder and business owner - keeping very busy. I'm always looking for new exploring, adventure, surfing, diving and sailing peeps to hang out with.I am married but my partner no longer spends much time online with me so I've been feeling a bit lonely. Give me a shout out if you'd like. I'm easy going, 420 friendly and very drama-averse. -Danny (The Mysterious Mechanic) danielwolfsong
  3. Hi - A customer bought a $1500L bike from my Market Place Store on the 27th - yet I have not received any money from the sale - today is the 29th. Is there some sort of delay in how the system works?
  4. Hi - I am looking at hiring an advanced script writer for a rather complex product. I will pay up to $10,000 L ($41.00 USD) for a successful outcome. Please respond here or contact me via IM and I will give you the details. Thanks Here's a little about me: https://danielwolfsong2018.wixsite.com/wolfsongs
  5. Hi Gang - I am looking for help with surf board building. I have the models - but need scripts and poses. I have a basic hoverboard script - but I would like to have one that includes poses for sitting, paddling and surfing. I see that others are selling boards with all this - yet I cannot find anything full perm on MP. - Would love some help with this! Thanks!
  6. I'm in my favorite place in all of Second Life. The Library in Angle Manor.
  7. Ahhh - Gotcha. I'll leave you all to your business then. Bye!
  8. Yes, thanks for your input. I am aware of that opinion.
  9. Yes, I understand that, thanks. I am a professional artist in RL. This particular avatar is an art project - it is not used for daily SL activities or social interactions - it is a soulless avatar, an art object and an experiment. I'll be writing an article about my experience designing and building this av, The Golden Ratio and it's effect on people in social situations involving the Uncanny Valley effect. In aesthetics, the uncanny valley is a hypothesized relationship between the degree of an object's resemblance to a human being and the emotional response to such an object. The concept of the uncanny valley suggests that humanoid objects which appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit uncanny, or strangely familiar, feelings of eeriness and revulsion in observers.[2] Valley denotes a dip in the human observer's affinity for the replica, a relation that otherwise increases with the replica's human likeness.[3] Examples can be found in robotics, 3D computer animations, and lifelike dolls among others. With the increasing prevalence of virtual reality, augmented reality, and photorealistic computer animation, the 'valley' has been cited in the popular press in reaction to the verisimilitude of the creation as it approaches indistinguishability from reality. The uncanny valley hypothesis predicts that an entity appearing almost human risks eliciting cold, eerie feelings in viewers.
  10. Alwin Alcott -Well - my av's don't run around SL with their shirts off. Here's a pic of what it looks like.
  11. Hi shota - I just built 2 mesh male av's from the Aesthetics NIRAMYTH folks and have been happy with how they turned-out. They do not have to look overly muscle-bound like the model in the advertisements. They scale easily, have a nice Alpha Hud and can be used in parts or whole. Also the folks over at EDDESIGN have some high quality facial modifiers that can really give a unique look. Also - Skell Dagger on this forum has a lot of good info on mesh avatars.
  12. I appreciate your comment Skell - I've been in SL 9 years and, although I admit to having a visceral relationship to my main avatar, I choose not to with these art project avatars for various emotional and psychological reasons.
  13. Ok - to clear-up a couple things here that have already been misconstrued from my initial query. - I didn't create these av's to "attract" anyone. I'm happily married. My sexuality or gender has nothing to do with the avatars I create. I have a giant Toilet Paper Roll avatar among many others, whose gender is never questioned. But what I think I am seeing here - and the feedback I am getting from other Social Media sites where I posted this same inquiry, is that people tend to personify and project personality assumptions onto human looking art - aka Avatars.
  14. Thank you Annika Velde for your honesty. It was recently pointed out to me that I see my avatars as art objects - while the general population in SL sees them as people.
  15. Thanks for the warning Alwin - I'm just an artist using SL as a creative tool.
  16. Thanks for the input LittleMe Jewel - no I never talk about my avatars at all in public.
  17. Thanks for the comment Alwin - no they have modifications beyond the huge muscular shape - I slimmed them down quite a bit. They look "fit" but not overly muscular and usually wear clothes that do not accentuate the musculature.
  18. Hi Cindy - thanks for the feedback. The reason I've gotten from 3 female friends is that women in SL feel a male avatar that is muscular or excessively good looking is just "into himself" and therefore not worth interacting with. It's an interesting observation - but I was wondering if there is some other reason.
  19. I modified 2 of my male avatars with Aesthetic Mesh and other facial adjustments and now no one will interact with them when I take them out into public areas and clubs. - I've heard differing reasons for this wanted to get more feedback. Are people really put-off by attractively modified male avatars? And why? As an artist I felt very proud of my work creating these two.
  20. I have an established bar in SL but am really struggling with bringing-in people. We advertise as the friendliest bar in SL – the place where everyone is welcome. We have live DJ’s and dancing plus tons of freebies and are always helpful to newbies. I currently post event nights when there is a DJ there to 3 different Facebook Second Life groups as well as my group inworld. But have had zero traffic. So I need some help from someone who is experienced with SL marketing. Please contact me if you are interested in this job. IM me inworld. Thanks
