  1. Pretty much rules can be made on the fly. I'd play a real first-person shooter than to waste my time in combat zones with their bajillion rules. It's like a poor re-hash of a web-forum RP, except stricter.
  2. Bryce, that is one of the unfortunate down-cast about Second-Life. Land-Barons are given golden-ties by LL, and unfortunately some have become piggish with power about it. There is no fairness or accountability Land-Owners are governed by unless it violates their terms of service with Linden Labs or/and Real-Life laws. They can make rules, and they can break them, they can ban for the little things or no reason at all. That does not mean one has to be a rug just because someone owns land. They are not infinite power, and those who have behaved this way continously have earned sooner or later, some sort of retribution from those whom they've poorly handled by either loosing their customers due to their own poor management skills or a bad rep because their clients(whom they forget, bring them traffics/lindens in the first place) have become tired of being treated like horse manure. You are not obligated to give them your traffic or lindens, just as they are not obligated to keep their virtual lands open to the public. Try to speak to the owner of the land if u can about your situation, but don't be surprise if your handed a sloppy or no response at all. Best is to find other places(which are plenty in the nude section) and not waste anymore of your time on places that have treated you unfairly. In the end, it's their lost and your under no condition to contribute to those places by giving them your traffic or lindens.
  3. Second-Life can be daunting at first. I had the same problem when i first joined SL due to the amount of unfriendlyness/lack of help that was shown to new residents by older ones(who didn't mind bragging about their 1+ year of SL "status") i nearly quit twice (not just limited on hubs but also public parcels as well) as well as trying to figure out the menu and how things worked at the same time. As it is the owner's land there's really nothing that can be ''done'' no matter how ridicolous the rules are unless there's TOS violations. Other than that, don't bother giving these lands traffic(by being there)/tips if they cannot treat all their visitors equal. Their not worth ruining your SL experience as there's other lands out there that can be explored that aren't as riggid as others. Second-Life users tend to be protective due to the amount of RL money invested, and owning land sadly in SL is not "cheap" and can be pricey if you actually want to build/have anything on it . Serious residents do not view SL as a "game" in general(like an mmorpg), even though there are game implimentions in second-life and it is a virtual world where virtual things exsist, and often times RL is mixed in with SL( real-life businesses, events, etc), but things can get out of hand. If you feel that Second-Life is somehow hassling or censoring you from expressing yourself to what you feel comfortable as your online avie then there's other social-chat clients avaible. These social-chats don't offer all the customization features SL does, but are "lighter" in a sense in a mmorpg fashion. Sorry you had to encounter rotten experiences from vicious members. There are still fun residents(and lands) out there who come to enjoy SL and it's features. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me in-world. I'll be glad to help. :smileytongue:
  4. From the recent merge it is known that teens now exsist in G/PG rated areas. I had the unfortunate experience of encountering a adult-material avatar standing in a McDonalds suit inside of Ahern. The avatar clearly had a A-rated piece on in the form of a male reproductive gentelia that was clearly in view that anyone could see. Upon confronting the nudity i received verbal harassment from the avatar, and dialouge that clearly decipated that the avatar had no interest in abiding to the "no nudity" policy governing all G/PG related areas, particularly in a teen-friendly area. The fact that teens come to ahern to play and talk on SL can still see material like this is disturbing. The reason why the TOS exsist and is not some meaningless rule is to protect youth from having or seeing acess to content that they should not see or have acess to to began with. There were some boder-line avatars before but this is the first time i witnessed an avatar arrogantly stood in ahern with their "junk" in broad-view then tried to briddle me about paying them "lindens" for their own disruptive and poor conduct. I hope Ahern continues to be G/PG friendly as possible to all adults, child avies, and teens alike.
  5. For those who have crafted a kid avvie, what tips do you have for customizing the Second Life avatar mesh into a decent looking child? Quality of both shape, hair, and clothing. From my experience i've seen many child avies who simply didn't have the right look because their clothes looked too old, or way to young for their height( including skin, child body but face of an adult...). What type of theme are you looking for your child avie? General cutness or a specific style?
  6. "Considering the fact zFire has threatened to make the alt list viewable on a website separate from Linden Lab, for payment via Paypal instead of L$, it's all the more reason to keep your IP out of his corrupt database." That in itself is an open-door for legal violations. Red-Zone is inappropriate due to both it's privacy issues and the fact that every-day, non-linden lab employees can go to this 3rd party website and have acess to IP adresses and alts of users using Second Life. Someone out there collecting/harvesting data about others and linking them back to their account-holder is abosolutely disgusting. It can result in abusive behavior like stalking and other harmful activities, and god-forbid if it goes into RL. Whoever owns their alts, "griefers" or not its no-one elses business to know who owns what account unless they are the company linden-lab itself. Don't want certain people on your land? There's these things called an "acess list" and a system called "abuse report".There's also these functions that can disable scripts and rezzing too. RedZone a direct violation of TOS for invading the privacy of every-resident that comes upon a red-zone infected land and its saddening to see land-barons(and land owners) abusive their privileges of service by using a device that violates the rights of every SL resident. A device(or "hud") that is gathering information and hosting it on a 3rd party website that anyone can acess once free now requiring easy payment. The fight is not over. Big Red has been officially adressed(and hopefully removed from LL all together) but there are still "mini-reds" located wide throughout the grid in use by their paranoid land-owners who violate the virtual experience of others by using these inappropriate devices. You have tried to protect your "lands" from griefers yet sadly, you have become the griefers yourselves. We are the consumers and your customers, the residents of Second Life much as you are and we will not tolerate this act of privacy invasion. I encourage those who care and are concern of their privacy to AR Red-Zone lands and the Red-Zone devices that violate TOS standards. To any owner that is sensible enough to remove this "spyware" my hat off to you.
