DrFran Babcock
Hello all. I will try to give you as much information as possible, so that maybe someone can figure out what is going on. Thanks.MY PROBLEM:I was having no problem with shadows, and was able to take some great pics, etc. http://drfranbabcock.wordpress.com/2011/07/30/judy-judy-judy/ For the last few weeks, maybe since the last viewer update, I am unable to invoke shadows. I can change all the settings in preferences, and shadows is checked, but I don't see any shadows any more. Any ideas?MY COMPUTER: Model Name:MacBook Pro Model Identifier:MacBookPro6,2 Processor Name:Intel Core i7 Processor Speed:2.66 GHz Number Of Processors:1 Total Number Of Cores:2 L2 Cache (per core):256 KB L3 Cache:4 MB Memory:4 GB Processor Interconnect Speed:4.8 GT/s Boot ROM Version:MBP61.0057.B0CMY GRAPHICS CARD:NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M: Chipset Model:NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M Type:GPU Bus:PCIe PCIe Lane Width:x16 VRAM (Total):512 MBMY VIEWER:Second Life 3.2.8 (248931) Feb 9 2012 09:07:27 (Second Life Release)Thanks for any ideas anyone might have. Luc Starsider
Yupp. The last viewer is a bit messed up when it comes to shadows on the Mac. So they don't work on (some) macs with Nvidia cards. Shadows work on Macs with AMD cards, though. Not that it helps you, of course... Hopefully it is fixed in the next version. - Luc -
valerie Inshan
@ Luc, I can enable shadows but when I do, parts of the landscape go away (flower fields, plants in pot, etc) Any idea for a fix? I have a quadricore iMac, AMD Radeon HD 6770M. Thanks in advance! :smileyhappy:
WolfBaginski Bearsfoot
I reckon it's always a good idea to have an alternative viewer, if only to eliminate some possible causes. There's been some problems with Mac systems. You have missed what might be the critical detail: the OS version

Luc Starsider
I'm not sure. I don't really know anything about this. Really not! But this sounds like an alpha thing. In the develop menu (LL viewer) under rendering I think, there is a couple of choices for alpha... I'm not at the Mac ATM, so I don't remember exactly. Try to change these and see if it makes a difference. I'll post better instructions when I have the viewer at hand. - Luc -

Sherlock Aedipo
I noticed the same thing. I hope this will be rectified. Anyone hear anything else about this? I like to have shadows when I do photos.
