Lag, rez time

Log in fine, but without doing anything  loose hundreds of packets. Lag and rez times unbelievable. Have had internet conection speed and connection checked. Computer is in perfect working order. All settings in game appear to be right. Whats next to relieve problem?

Visit an empty Region to test if your system will stabilize. 

Discover what has changed to effect your performance.

An auto-update of your Viewer could cause performance issues, as solution is to revert to an older Viewer or an Alternate viewer.

Hello Sprual and welcome to SL Forums. The first you have to do is to decrease your maximum bandwidth to 500, as the default setting under preferences --> setup in viewer 3. If you fix your problem this way you can increase it a bit gradually till to find the best setting for your system. If you use wireless connection just avoid it. It is not suggested for SL. Reboot also your modem / router leting it closed for at least 2-3 mins. Usually it helps also.

Something is not in perfectworking order if you are loosing hundreds of packets.  You have a big problem somewhere in the pipeline between your machine and LL's servers.  You can test online with a number of different diagnostic tools.  For example, try >>> http://www.dslreports.com/linequality  ..   Most of the time when this problem shows up, your router is the culprit.  Use a direct cable connection (not wireless) and reboot your router periodically to clear its RAM  and assure a good hold on an IP address.
