I cannot log in anymore...

I've been trying for 2 days now to log in and I keep having the message: "Login Failed. The system is logging you out right now. Your Account will not be available until bla-bla-bla" It's been like this for 2 days!!! What am I suppose to do; helpppp!!!

This used to be a comon problem. Recent changes seem to have brought it back. There are work arounds.

The problem is usually caused by your avatar ghosting. A crash or failed logout leaves a region thinking you are still logged in. If you can get in by logging into a different region, you can travel to the region where your ghost is and admire it... for about a second. When you enter the region with your ghost, the region sort of wakes up to the fact that one of you is a ghost. Then it corrects things and the problem is solved.

See this article: I Can’t Login. Some are saying the old tricks are not working. I have received a couple of emails saying something in the article worked for them. One didn;t say what worked, the other siad the 60 second window that pops up every 15 minutes let them get in.

The Lindens are aware of the problem. It made it onto the grid status page. They thought they had it fixed Friday. Oops. If nothing else works, call support. They'll eject your ghost avatar and that will let you back in.

Yes, I too am getting IMs inworld saying the old way of repeatedly trying to log in will eventually lead an avatar to be able to log in. But it is much rarer than before. The "ghosts" are sitting tighter than before. Therefore, I do advise we all keep urging everyone to go through Support, as Alexa Linden has advised on one of the JIRAs. Let's face it, Nalates, no one should be locked out of SL, and if we find a workaround for it, then LL won't realise there is a problem that needs fixing, so we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

Having said that, I have ghosted a couple of my avatars and been testing all the old methods of freeing them, along with trying some new ones. Current state of play is I have one of my ghosted avatars back in world again, and another is still stuck at Velox sim.

And remember how there used to be a pattern - a ghosted avatar would show as being online for 14 minutes and offline for one minute, and it was during that seeming offline minute that someone could log in?  This pattern does not seem to be happening at the moment, so it really is doubly lucky if a person manages to log in.  And, of course, unless they can take their avatar to where their ghostly presence is stuck, when they log out again, they will find themselves still having great difficulties logging back in again. 

As Second Life is as evolutionary as real life, you might want to update your blog too.

I have tried for two days now to login to my second life program.  I just get quit.  It almost connects and then the screen shows my usual scene as grey and black and I get the Quit message.

 

Please help.
