First, check your inventory one more time using the search function.  Enter "Zoobys" (use that exact spelling) in the search term box at the top of your inventory, making sure the "Inventory" tab is active (not Recent or Worn).  If there is no dog anywhere, then send an IM and/or a notecard to the merchant and explain the problem.  Second Life can sometimes have delivery problems, and most merchants will be happy to help you.

Note:  When receiving items, be sure you are not in Busy mode.  If you are, the item will be rejected and get lost forever.

Also make sure when you make purchases like this that you are inworld. Deliveries can get confused when you're not. Plus, there's a current JIRA that may apply to you - offline notifications, objecct deliveries, and IM's are not showing up. The work-around is to mute something - anything - or somebody. That should kickstart the deliveries.

When you contact the owner of Zoobys, make sure you include the transaction histories for BOTH purchases. You can find it under "dashboard > my acocunt > transaction history." Copy and paste that into a notecard (or IM; read the creator's profile to find out how they prefer to be contacted) along with a polite and detailed account of what happened. You might even be able to not only recieve your dog, but also get a refund of the duplicate purchase, depending on the owner's policy.

In the future, if something is not delivered, it is not advisable to purchase it again. Instead, send a notecard to the creator after the first failed delivery, requesting that it be redelivered. Some merchants do have a "no refunds" policy, and will not refund for duplicate purchases.

In addition to great previous answers, read the official Knowledge Base about Unreceived items shopping in the Marketplace:

Unreceived items

Has it been more than 24 hours since you ordered? If so, contact the merchant, explain what happened, and politely request redelivery of the item. If it has been less than 24 hours, please be patient and check again later. If the merchant doesn't respond, you can submit a support case requesting redelivery. Make sure to include the order number and the exact name of the undelivered item(s).

Slow deliveries may currently be more noticeable because you now have a cart to which you can add multiple items. (This wasn't the case with the old Xstreet, which closed for purchases in October 2010.) Unfortunately, we can only send so many items at a time.
