0 LoveAngeL Lyre
Hello Seren1ty1990 and welcome to SL Forums. It's a known problem especially for users with Macs and it is already reported. See: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-25627? You can add your comment there if you wish. A solution for your problem described also at the following link and it is worth to give a try: http://neilrobinson.wordpress.com/2008/05/19/a-fix-for-dns-errors/ You need to add the following additional DNS servers to your DNS settings in Network settings under System Preferences: 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 If it doesn't work for you, download again an older version of Viewer 2 and set your your software updates no to be installed automatically. (Preferences --> Setup --> Hardware) Good luck.
0 Rolig Loon
A lot of people are having DNS problems with the V3 viewer, so it's not just you. You can use the wonderfully well-written instructions at http://neilrobinson.wordpress.com/2008/05/19/a-fix-for-dns-errors/ that LoveAngel referred to, and apply the addresses for Google's free public DNS too (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). That's a good, stable DNS service.
0 Dante Tucker
In reply to these other fine posters, I wouldn't use dns ips randomly posted on some blog. It's a common tactic for phishing. A malicious person could very easily redirect all your login data to their own servers. Only use well known trusted dns servers, such as Google's free dns. It's a very serious situation, you are essentualy giving control of every url you access to whoever owns the ips.
